Brandon Hegedus' fourth build, a Mazda rotary powered 1929 Ford speedster dubbed the Paper Bag Princess, is a joy to look at and drive. I hope you enjoy this video.
Awesome build that's what hotrodding is all about , building it yourself using the tools you have and the parts you find on the trail and making them work together 👍
I'm glad it makes you happy! You can see Brandon's own channel where he's building his second Ferrari tribute here: ua-cam.com/channels/LyWBPv1LELNW3g6FQkgl4A.html
There is a magazine in the UK, Custom Car, whose one time editor had very specific requirements of what was a hot rod. It had to run period parts, flat head motor, a generator, not an alternator, cross-ply tires and drum brakes. However, hot rodding was always supposed to be about making the best of what was available. So why not run a rotary motor and disc brakes.
Glad to hear it! You should check out the tribute he just finished to the 1962 Ferrari F-156 Sharknose on his Instagram - instagram.com/howisthatstreetlegal/?hl=en
Great man cave, great car project, great perspective with your time and don't let anybody tell you different regardless of the nitpicking. This is what men should do instead of video games
It is what MEN DO instead of video games ... x father in law called it mental masturbation but He whacked off to golf and read books after a drunken note with his snooty fucking friends ... I'd rather skip golf an get a little drunkey , sleep as needed.and continue on with a daydream ... work gets in the way but back at it as allowed ... That's life , too much fun ... Fuck Golf but I do have shitty old clubs and hit the ball as good as those dbags ... And I could bury them in the drink
I just effing love this !!!! I'd love to see some more about this car . Is the bastard love child of a T bucket and a lotus 7 . With just a touch of steam punk
The mazda rotary is as unique as the model T in my books, no other company has made it, only mazda, mass producing it. I would say a perfect match for a lightweight racer, its so nimble just like the euro racers of the 1920s and 1930s

Sorry I missed this, Andy. The rear end is a stock 1929 Model A banjo rear end. The gearing is stock 3.78:1 with welded spider gears for a “Lincoln locker” spool. Brandon built a custom yoke conversion to use a drive shaft in place of the ‘torque tube’.

this style is called a 'speedster'. in America they were an affordable "race car" option for people looking to build a racing style car back in the 20s and 30s. one would take the old family car, strip off everything that they didn't need and do as much engine work as they could afford, then they would often race on the dirt roads and dirt tracks of the day. this "style" of car has a very long and deep history through America and especially Europe, where it eventually led to what we now know as modern Formula-1. Europe refined the sport much quicker than in America where it remained a much more home based hobby like hot-rodding, while in Europe it took off from the earliest days of automobiles with names like Bugatti.
