Steve is an amazing singer. Some other songs to consider are two tear drops, small town girl, some fools never learn, the weekend, what I didn't do, Lynda, life's highway.
This is a fun song. I was surprised when you said the year. He rereleased this song in 1999. The instrumentation in the later version brought his guitar work to the fore. I'd suggest the following songs by him: Two Teardrops Holes In The Floor of Heaven Katie Wants A Fast One A fun reaction. Thanks for introducing me to a new version of this song. I will mention that Steve is not only a good singer, but he is also a better than average guitarist.
The version they're reacting to is indeed the original recording from 1978. It was Steve's debut single, but it only peaked at 63. Steve re-recorded the song in 1999 and released it in July of that year, which is the version most people are familiar with. The 1999 version was much more successful, peaking at number 3.
Such a sweet song. George Strait has a song called "Check Yes Or No" that reminds me of this and for more of an emotional punch, Collin Raye's "Love Me". I'll also suggest "Little Rock" by Collin Raye because his vocals are really showcased in that song. I remember in high school, there was this guy who was such a jerk to me. I mean, he was a total bully. I hated him. Flashforward six years after graduation, we run into one another, and he acts like we had been best buddies and I just sort of ended the conversation as quick as possible. Two days later, I get a call from a friend of mine that he contacted to find out if I was single. I laughed my ass off. But I was nice enough to tell the friend to just tell him I was seeing someone (I wasn't at the time) but I really wanted to call him myself and remind him of what an asshole he had been and say I would sooner chew on glass than go on a date with him.
Steve is another great singer/song writer and guitar player, and a little acting. First song I heard was "Kansas City Lights" on the way to Basic Traing, and never been out of Kansas, and "Tears in the Floor of Heaven". "Fools Never Learn". Just a couple of a long line of favs.
I love Steve Wariner. There was two country genres in the 80’s. Traditional and Pop and Steve was the best of the pop. “Small Town Girl”, “Some Fools Never Learn” and “Two Teardrops”
Keith and Dustin….Steve Wariner is up there with Chet Atkins on his guitar skills. His amazing songwriting and vocals made him an Artist that dominated the ‘80’s. Owning everything he’s ever recorded, even his hidden tracks are golden.
Also wanted to add. I wish y'all would do some Restless Heart. Man, they are wonderful. Dancy's dreams. That rock won't roll, fast moving train, when she cries. Many, many songs.
@Deborah George now I'm jealous. I wish I could've seen them. Unfortunately, we ran an animal shelter back then and had no money or time for concerts. Oh well, I still enjoy their music.
Great reaction!! I saw the name of the song and it was an INSTANT nostalgia! I got my whole house to quiet down for a moment just so I could hear the reaction lol. And let me tell ya that was a feat! Great reaction guys!
A side note about Steve, he is an outstanding guitar picker. One of the chosen by Chet Atkins to be given the moniker C.G.P. which stands for Certified Guitar Player. This was only given to a chosen few. Jerry Reed was also honored by Chet with this as was Mark Knoppler.

The story you told about saying I love you To your girl kinda reminded me of a time I had in 3rd grade where I have a girl who refused to take the word no for an answer I was more interested in racing my gokart than girls at the time so I stood up in front of the entire lunch room and asked if anybody knew how to make her stop asking me out she didn't talk to me for the rest of my time in that school a year later we moved and I was at a different school from then on but 6 years later I got a job at the local park running concessions and rides and guess who was my coworker we actually became good friends never really went out as a boyfriend girlfriend kind of thing but did hang out together all through high school and actually became part of the crew on my street stock when I was running dirt track
Oh y’all were cracking me up with the note-passing chess. I never passed a note myself-if I wanted to pass one I handed it directly to the person-because you’re 100% right! If the wrong person intercepted your note, you were so screwed. In 9th grade I wrote a short story romance with myself and my male best friend as the leads. My plan was to have him read it (he loved reading my work) and then discuss with him how I felt. I was going to give it to him myself. But something happened, I don’t exactly remember what, though,I probably had a medical emergency (I was very sick till my 20s) and the notebook with the story got left in a classroom. The next day at school I was ambushed by a girl I didn’t know about how I “need to back off another girl’s man.” For the record, my best friend had been single for months to my knowledge. This turned out to be untrue, as he had been lying to me to keep me from realizing he was dating someone who treated me like trash. We had quite a row over that, believe me. But back to the story... so all throughout the day I kept getting ambushed by girls about my feelings for him. I was called home wrecker, whore, told I was a pathetic puppy begging for attention, etc. Finally, during my last class, a girl I knew walked up to me and handed me my notebook. She said my best friend had read it and left me a note. And she walked off. Guys, that note was so cruel. He was furious and so mean. He told me he wanted nothing to do with me till he calmed down. I honored his wishes of course, and when he finally spoke to me a week later I learned that my story had been found and read by a girl that loved to make my life miserable. She passed it all around before it landed in the hands of my best friend’s secret (well, to me) girlfriend. The girlfriend gave it to my best friend along with some story about how I’d been bragging all over campus that everything in the story was true. Two things... the story was a collection of our real conversations over the year, I just rewrote the scenarios from my POV so that the reader could clearly understand what I was thinking and feeling. There was nothing naughty in the story, but it did end with a passionate kiss. Apparently every girl who passed it around lied about the contents. So I was the ugly, sick girl who wrote p-n from that day on. Anyways, what made my friend so furious was that I had shared our honest conversations about some very specific things-in hindsight, I probably should have changed some details to hide his views on a couple things-and that I had been unable to tell him how I felt “with your mouth” instead of with my writing. I promise you, I never ever left anything in classroom again. I was hyper aware of exactly where every item I owned was at all times for the rest of high school.
That was another great reaction. I have a deep cut for you to check out. Crazy as performed by Willy Nelson. He first recorded it when he was struggling to get attention.
I can relate to this song except for it was sixth grade for me , just like the song , the girl I like was with someone else, now she is married but we are still friends.
This is a combo of check yes or no,how do you like me now?,and tell me about the good old days.Keith I think the country has widened your prospective to the positive.
eh... There's plenty of positive in older rock. Nirvana and the grunge scene kinda killed that though. And I don't see a return to it on the horizon. - Keith
6:25 the “you’ll have to wait” part was always weird to me cause it meant that she wasn’t looking for something permanent. 7:00 I had a friend who dated a girl in jr high got married after high school and are still married 30 years later. I have an autistic brother and how my girlfriends reacted around and treated him was a deciding factor on staying together. Dumped many hot girls cause they were rude to my brother. I knew out of my other two brothers I would be the one taking care of him after my folks passed away so the girl I was with would have to be able to be around him.
Lol in 2nd grade a l boy in my class brought me a jump rope and candy bars to my house. Then a few months later he kissed me behind the library. In 5th grade I got called to the principal's office because a guy my class brought me some jewelry. An hour later his mother came up to the school because she noticed her favorite piece of jewelry was missing. Haha I don't remember if I ever got a "do you like me" note, thought.

Liked your story’s. 1978 I wasn’t even planned. 😂 The song was ok, maybe I’m a little to young. In elementary school I was passing paper notes but I think I got my first cellphone when I was ten years old and we started to send texts. Still a good song, liked his voice.
@@BourbonCountryReacts yeah in Germany too. At least at the beginning of my time at school. It wasn’t that much different. And we would write the same stuff on it like you did. I don’t think I wrote “I love you” on it though. And it stopped here as soon as we all got cellphones.

This is probably not something for your channel! But for myself I think they are a very good cover band! They are called Foxes and Fossils, their harmonizing is at it's best! The instrument playing is good too! I like their live versions, better than their studio version! But I'm not a music guy! I'm just a Bubba! Lol
