Fully agree with the tips. If you don't want to forget what you learn you have two options. 1) you get a lot exposure or immersion; when you do this it is less probable you won't encounter a word you learned again. If you learned the expression "rush hour" and you live in a city in the US you will probably retain that. Of course you can also create an environment at home 2) You figure out your own best way to counteract the natural 'forgetting curve.' Answer the question "How am I making sure I don't forget "rush hour" in 3 days, in 7 days, in 30 days?" There are apps that help with this.
I enjoyed watching the video. I learned a lot from it. I also have to work hard to grow one step further. I hope everyone here can grow together. I’ll cheer for you.
Great information, I am enthusiastic about language learning, too. Since I am working on my Ph.D. program, I kept telling myself, "Oh no, I don't have sufficient time to push myself through the learning journey", which led me to a situation where I thought I have learned a lot, but I ended up with knowing very little in all of those concepts. I think your method is quite informative.

@user-rt7gc4tj7k I mean yeah it's not as cake as Spanish would be probably but it's doable for sure. I'd say focus on the sounds, and take things one at a time in pieces (learn 1 or 2 cases, one conjugation etc. Then don't be afraid to move on to another before 100% perfecting what you learned). Don't just learn long lists of words - learn phrases that are useful to you and u can use right away pretty much even if you don't fully understand the cases yet. The phrases will become muscle memory but you'll learn why certain things are said a particular way later.

I really love how you think. Not many people think this way even if you tell them the truth of what works it all depends on the willpower. We are exposed to many things and invaluable information. Mostly about spending and desiring things we don’t need. What we need is knowledge and knowledge comes from God. Unfortunately when we continue in our ways because it’s “easy” and “everyone is doing it so why not me?” We become comfortable instead of seeking more about our life and purpose. Proverbs 1:5 (CJB) “5 Someone who is already wise will hear and learn still more; someone who already understands will gain the ability to counsel well;”
Excellent video! I agree with most of your points, I think we really learn from our mistakes because they stay at the forefront of our mind, as we feel embarrassed or upset that we got something wrong... But being able to accept that mistakes teach us something, and trying no matter what is how we improve!
Some of my rutines to keep me in touch with the english (becouse it's not my native language) is always singng. Singing makes my brain memorize words , their pronuntiation and find new words. Other way is reading books and making resumes of what i've red. Possibilites are infinite.

@@Derverruckte03-sz3xo hi, follow the advice Ruri was giving in this video. I agree with Beacrox advice regarding pinyin, it is an essential part to figure out the sounds and tones. Don’t stress too much about getting it 100% correct all the time in the beginning, it will take some time to get used to but with practice you’ll get the hang of it eventually. Plus watch tv series in the language, even better if you can find youtube content in a subject you already are interested in the language you're studying (in the beginning you probably need some subtitles in a language you already know). Rewatching the tv-shows/youtube videos helps you catch more words and sentences and familiarizes you with common expressions. I've learned so much from this it's insane and another plus is that it doesn't cost a bunch of money (there are tv series in mandarin on ex viki for free). I don't recommend movies in general for language practice b/c a lot of everyday conversation gets cut out (inorder to focus on the plot, which is understandable lol) and for me that's the most important base of the language. Reading is fantastic, even if it's just simple sentences b/c context makes it much easier to remember new words etc. Reaching the level where you can read in books Mandarin is not unreachable but it will require effort, reading blog posts/articles etc online is a good place to start b/c of how easy it is to copy words in order to look up the translation. Later on re-reading books you've already read and know the plot of is a fun way to practise. My best advice is to find material in the language you want to study that you find fun or interesting. It will help if/when you don't feel like studying :) But in general examine what has worked in the other two languages you've learned and try to apply those things to Mandarin. I’m far from fluent in Mandarin yet, but I think I can eventually reach my goal of being able to read books and watch movies without subtitles comfortably. It hasn’t been high up on my priority list b/c life has come in between, but all the advice I’ve written here are things that have worked when I was learning English and helped my Mandarin immensely.

As a native Arabic speaker, I speak English and am still learning, also two years ago I started learning French but I did not finish learning, I think it was because I was not using it much. But I really want to go back and learn it again, thanks Ruri for the tips!

Keep going! Very impressive... 3 languages!
I’m learning Japanese right now, so far 9months in and I think I am somewhere between jlpt3-4, I will study for another year, and then start with Korean
Proverbs 1:5 (CJB)
“5 Someone who is already wise
will hear and learn still more;
someone who already understands
will gain the ability to counsel well;”
You're amazing, thankyou. I maybe will try the aplication that you suggest

Exposure to the language is something I need to work on
Incredibble, thank you very much
Excellent video! I agree with most of your points, I think we really learn from our mistakes because they stay at the forefront of our mind, as we feel embarrassed or upset that we got something wrong... But being able to accept that mistakes teach us something, and trying no matter what is how we improve!
Thanks a lot The video was very Helpful and it protected me from wasting my years on lesarning a language❤❤❤
Some of my rutines to keep me in touch with the english (becouse it's not my native language) is always singng. Singing makes my brain memorize words , their pronuntiation and find new words. Other way is reading books and making resumes of what i've red. Possibilites are infinite.

Hola!

hi, follow the advice Ruri was giving in this video.
It will help if/when you don't feel like studying :)
But in general examine what has worked in the other two languages you've learned and try to apply those things to Mandarin.
Learning a new language is no child's play, and learning of Mandarin is quite an uphill climb on Hamaliya, for sure.
I would love to learn at least one language interesting video you are bi lingual that is cute and awesome
I really enjoyed your video. Ty for your tips!
