Very informative on setting everyone’s expectations right on rental scenario in London. My favorite snippet was “We specialize in crushing your dreams of living in London”.
Appreciate the effort you put into researching these options! When we moved to London 3 years, I had originally budgeted £1500 for a 2 bedroom flat. We quickly realized it would drastically limit our choices and when we found a flat we really wanted at £1700, we caved in and decided to go for it.
Ahhhh!!! You chose my comment! Thank you! My husband and I are actually moving to London in a matter of weeks and I love your input. We will definitely check out that area.
Laughed out loud at your comment about bringing up you being the "box room kid" at Christmas. Hopefully bringing it up every year works to your advantage in the gift haul!
I got mine for £650/month, flatshare with the other 3, in west kensington. But ofc you need to compromise with the room size. Awesome deal for international student :)
Considering that I regularly look at the price of homes for sale in London (for fun), if I was surprised by anything, it's that rents are as "affordable" as they are, compared to the price of purchasing flats & houses in London.
£800 living alone in central London, no way 🙈🙈🙈 London is so so pricey, I think sometimes people have no idea how expensive but is, until they actually live here - and I was honestly like that too. The prices are just ridiculous here 🙈 I admire all of the research you did! It's so much work and so stressful looking for a house in London!! 🙈🙈

Yes that's doable! And the fact that you're housed for the first three months by your company is a HUGE stress reliever and money-saver. Good luck with your search!
I live in NYC where the apartment--hunting situation seems very similar to London, and I'm laughing at the expectations of a lot of the people you mentioned. It might be cruel to laugh in the faces of people who ask if they can live in a spacious apartment alone in Manhattan for less than a grand a month, but I'm probably doing them a favor in the long run.
Not sure we need to laugh or mock because remember that many people from more affordable places are just not aware of how expensive it is here :) And some people shared numbers just to compare what they pay at home vs what they'd get in London. Thanks for watching Tia!

I just moved in Hamburg for 1100€/month. Not that close to the city centre of Hamburg. Moved about a month ago, didn't even expect to find a new place in 2021 at all. It is not the greatest of all areas in Hamburg, mostly due to it being quite far aways from the city centre... Asked Hamburg born people if that area was okay, which they say it is. And one month here I have no complains (so far). But on an S-Bahn ride I am in 10 or 20 Minutes right in the city centre which is totally fine for me. And even served hourly on a rail replacement bus in the night. I grew up in Cologne, which is by comparision a cheaper area, espacially the suburb I grew up. For my move I set myself a limit of 1000€/month for 60 sqm unfurnished (only kitchen included) ended up with almost 80 qm. a balcony.... But that 1135 is including heating...
I live in Southern California, and honestly, these prices that are quite common here (except most apartments and houses tend to have a little more space). In my area, you probably can't even find a tiny studio apartment for less than $1000.

CRAZY! But we're not selling. We're fixing it up and staying a while. 😊 But SUPER interesting to see how things compare! Thanks for all the research.

Quite interesting. In Lisbon an average aged (no more than 20years) 1 bedroom apartment is around 700-900€ in the city center. Newer are more expensive.
Hi Jess you did make me smile about the box room. I remember being so happy that my sisters were both moving out when I was a kid so I didn't have to share a room with my brother anymore ;-) London Fields sounded great only 3 miles from Tower Hill but I think you did well to find a room at that price, Im guessing its just the kitchen/lounge/bathroom you have to share not the bedroom right? No not the bedroom! I mean that's an option for those who want it too, and reallyyyyy want to save money (common for students.) Thanks so much for watching Richard.
I pay 400€ (around 340£) for my 34 square meter flat right next to the city centre in one of Finland's biggest cities. It will be tough to triple that price when I finally decide to make the move to London.
So for a decent studio or one bed flat for one person it would pretty much need to be two grand. Thats cool. Now is water or other utilities included in any of them? Are there other fees that would cost? Thanks.

Its impossible to find en-suite without sharing apartment in Zone 1 under £900. I ended up getting small room with shared, kitchen and bathoom among 3 people in total.

Hello there. I have got a budget of GBP 1400 PCM. Can you please suggest to me (for a family of 3) a 1BR+ apartment to rent preferably with the best modern amenities that I can get nearest to central London? As of now, I have Wembley Park Boulevard as my best option.
Nothing better than finding the tricky cheap rent for students which happens only after living in London for months or years and overpaying at first thinking official student accommodation offered by unis is a good deal (: you're American, you probably pronounce that as 's/trae/raem/' (but that's not how the lady says it on the tube) :P
What if your company here in the US just told you that you never have to come back to the office and can work anywhere, and you just want to try London out for one month ? How can I find a one month rental that's fully furnished ? I don't even care about location as long as it is safe and I have high-speed internet.

A fireplace, even if sealed shut, is mandatory. Willing to share the property with others (because, let's face it, they're very likely to die soon), providing the Secret Keeper is reliable. Must accept payment in Galleons and Knuts." Thanks, Jess!
lol! Next time ;) Thanks for watching Hugh!
Great video as always Jess!
Thanks so much for watching, I appreciate it!
Oh dang, wish I had seen you post this question.
Maybe next time!
It's very similar to Toronto, but London has much better transit. There's no council tax here, but cell and internet are higher than the UK.
Ah yes I've heard this from my TO friends. Thanks for watching!
Wow! this was amazing... if you are ever doing a second part, can you suggest places for me... GBP 1200, 1 bedroom flat for a couple, outdoor space with patio, close to a public park and walking distance to a tube station... not in central London but also not very far, may be like zone 2/3
Thanks Prachi! Yes if I ever do another one. Although I will tell you right now that it'll be tricky at that budget so I'd probably have to go zone 3/4...
@@loveandlondon works for me, in fact if its a nice find in zone 2 I can pump the budget to 1500..... I am planning to move to the city in couple of months
Also, I love your vlogs!!
Good series
Thanks so much!
This is insane I live in a house with a patio, 3 rooms, garage, bathtub, two outside balconies one inside to the patio and even some storage space, all in a very busy chic part of town and I pay the equivalent of 430 pounds... Currency really changes everything
Yup, and location! Thanks for watching Lucila!
Great info dear
I would like to know how is the rent in zone 2 residential area apartments?
Completely depends on which part of zone two, we'll have a video out in a few weeks comparing the same rent in different areas which will help show you!
@@loveandlondon thanks a lot dear ☺️
Waiting for the next video ….
Its impossible to find en-suite without sharing apartment in Zone 1 under £900.
I ended up getting small room with shared, kitchen and bathoom among 3 people in total.
Agreed. Thanks for watching Param!
Looking for a 1 bed with balcony and hopefully communal gym in and around canary wharf for around 1700-2000 including council tax and utilities. Think it's doable? Looking for a long term lease starting Jan 2023
Check rightmove and zoopla to see if that's doable
Hello there. I have got a budget of GBP 1400 PCM. Can you please suggest to me (for a family of 3) a 1BR+ apartment to rent preferably with the best modern amenities that I can get nearest to central London? As of now, I have Wembley Park Boulevard as my best option.
awesome videos. usually how many years are the mortgages are? is it possible if a person above 40 years, buy a property.
I think they go up to 35 years!
Nothing better than finding the tricky cheap rent for students which happens only after living in London for months or years and overpaying at first thinking official student accommodation offered by unis is a good deal (:
you're American, you probably pronounce that as 's/trae/raem/' (but that's not how the lady says it on the tube) :P
:) Thanks for watching Jose!
This is so fun to watch. I live in Watford and considering to move to London but the rent is holding me back 😅
Haha I totally get it!
What if your company here in the US just told you that you never have to come back to the office and can work anywhere, and you just want to try London out for one month ? How can I find a one month rental that's fully furnished ? I don't even care about location as long as it is safe and I have high-speed internet.
You can try to sublease on Spareroom, or you can book one of these aparthotels that I recommend: loveandlondon.com/18-london-apart-hotels-better-than-airbnb/
@@loveandlondon Thank you so much for this !
You make really wonderful videos.
Thank you Annette, appreciate it!
London prices are crazy for 1k you can get a new apartment with a pool, sauna, gym and private dining areas to host friends in the apartment block 😫
You forgot to mention where that is ;) but yes they absolutely are crazy!
@@loveandlondon Leicester! I live in London but will be moving back to Leicester where I lived for 3 years for uni
Do you have recommendations on websites where to check flats? I know rightmove but maybe there are better ones :-)
Rightmove, Zoopla, Openrent!
My budget is 5-10k £ per month but everything that I’ve seen seems to be high rise buildings and I’m deathly afraid of heights 😭 I want lots of space and 3 bedrooms 2 baths and I’m willing to pay for it
It's probably the areas you're looking in. Look beyond central to zone 2 and you'll find crazy nice houses for that budget.
I’m moving out of my parent’s house in Croydon to move closer to central with my friend. Any help?
I pay 2000 for a 1 bed in Kensington with a huge garden! I got lucky I think because my neighbours pay a lot more
Wow that's definitely the high end for a one-bed! But as long as you enjoy it and have that lovely outdoor space that's all that matters :)
@@loveandlondon the garden is literally huge, and it backs onto train tracks so there’s a little woods behind my garden, doesn’t feel like London at all. my chow just killed my neighbours cat so it’s kinda awkward now. Might be moving soon!
Dump question but: what is the 2nd cost in the red box for? I am assuming it is after adding tax council but can anyone confirm?
Euros conversion
Lol having lived in the SF Bay Area, these rents seem "normal".
haha I bet! Thanks for watching
I won't to live in London. I am India I want situationship in London. What should I do

What is the cheapest areas of England to live in I’m planning to move there single
Well it's definitely not London! Lol
Thanks for sharing! I'm keen to move back to London/UK, but just waiting to see if this Indian variant screws up everything or not!
Good luck!!
Are you from India?
Does anyone know some good Towns/places outside London that is affordable and Flats that are decent or above average inside? From US considering moving to England
Check popular train lines and the hop on rightmove to see what your money can get you. Remember that "affordable" is relative.
@@loveandlondon In all reality I want to move to England BUT know nothing about Towns or anything. And so I just really don’t know exactly where to move in England. Guess I’ll just have to research places, but I’m excited and eager to see England.
try another area im in lincoln and my 1 bed flat is a good size and the rent is ......... get ready for it ..........£405 a month
Lol yep! Thanks for watching
Yeh but it's cold up there
can you do below 500 near central london?
That won't even get you a parking spot these days
@@loveandlondon oh
I knew someone else would want step free access sooner or later.
Yes, of course lots of people ask for it. Hopefully you saw the improvements we've made to include wheelchair accessibility information.
Love from india ❤️
Now london rent map requires a password, do you know it?
I don't see that when I view it!
you should be a real estate agent for people relocating to London
Haha thanks! and thanks for watching
