+ArtisanTony What does water on mars have to do with liberalism? I'm not saying he isn't a liberal, but it's a little silly to say he isn't passionate about science.
+Frynker Murr I agree..that's what I like about him,he's so passionate about science, the universe, all of that..alot of people are turned off by his passion, they take it as him being arrogant..but IMO those people don't understand his passion for science and discovering things about the world we live in and beyond, and,I think those people are also jealous of his passion because they themselves have no passion for their life or anything in it...I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Neil deGrasse Tyson,he is an AWESOME human being :D And he's SUCH a nerd, something else I love about him :)
+David Greene (Nøkkenbuer) That's understandable. Philosophy has a lot of guessing, predicting and it's very bias. He's a science guy. He likes dry facts. When he hears a philosophical idea he immediately asks ,,why?'' and if he can't get a straightforward answer it won't appeal to him.
+bored312 I was actually thinking the same thing when I saw the video. The man seems genuinely happy, like really happy with where he is in life. I envy that too...
+Norman Piper The undulations may have looked like a funny exaggeration to the audience because they're in a comedy show, but Neil Tyson really does use a lot of hand gestures when he explains things. I've seen tons of videos featuring Neil giving lectures, and the way he speaks and moves his hands looks exactly the same as they do when he's on Cobert. You can tell he's truly passionate about his work.
+Says The Big Bear you know you bring something to mind. One subculture that uses tons of handgestures are airplane pilots. I wonder if Mr. Tyson has past flight experience.
Allen Nance Well, I don't know anything about that, but now that you mention it, I do remember Tyson saying how he used to be a dancer in college. Maybe dancing was what nurtured his tendency to use hand gestures? In fact, he's still got the moves! Just Google "Neil deGrasse Tyson dancing" and you can see him for yourself. How that video DIDN'T go viral is beyond me.
I absolutely love how Prof Tyson has the ability to "dumb down" complex scientific principles for the masses. Easily the greatest living science communicator right now. I count myself fortunate to have met him in person
+Mikhail Kalashnikov That's so true. The way he explains very complex concepts to ensure the common viewer is able to grasp the fundamental ideas behind them makes him a great ambassador for science.
I'm glad you called him a communicator and not like a scientist that makes discoveries. not that he isn't a scientist, just that he's more popular science
Honestly, Neal is such a blast. He's one of the few people who know how to make science appeal to the general public, who otherwise wouldn't care about it.
@@thevannmann That's only because European already exists. Maybe us Euros are the aliens and named our continent after out home moon! Or it's just a similar name.
I love how people like Neil force everyone around them to take science seriously. There used to be that social phenomena of when a scientist speaks, comedians deliberately play stupid and do the "check out this nerd" thing. I'm glad that's going away. Having a highly scientifically literate population is hugely beneficial.
+ArtisanTony LOL you just go along every comment here and type the same stupid shit. You're right. Science is TOTALLY liberal propaganda. GET A LIFE/BRAIN!
I was at the doctor's today and reading Dr. Tyson's book "Death by Blackhole" for about the tenth time and one of the nurses recognized him and his book. Pretty cool conversation after that.
+Prasad Bankar DEMOTED* And get over it! It's still out there, it hasn't disappeared! Besides, if you call it a planet, then there's a bunch of other objects relatively close to it that you'd have to call planets too. Trust me Pluto is much happier now
Colbert has a new show? Damn, living in Europe has it's disadvantages..... like not being informed whenever a divine being like him get's a new show. I'm so happy right now.
+Alexander Smith Clearly I have some catching up to do. I watched a few episodes when he first started but stopped because of workload. I love Stephen.
I love how in the 80s they swore up and down there was no liquid water outside of Earth and how this was the bane of space travel. Now we find water on Mars, Europa, and Encellidus. And fuel on Titan.
Any Space Odyssey series fans?? When Tyson mentioned Jupiter's moon, Europa, I instantly thought of Tsien and the submarine creatures that fed on the geothermal currents under the seas.
I remember watching old science and technology programs and first seeing Neil back before he was famous and was just like, 'Damn this guys is eccentric ass fuck.' I wonder what ever happened to Michio Kaku, I havent kept up with him ever since Degrasse became the successor to Sagan.
Neil is a wonderful and witty speaker as was his mentor Carl Sagan. Being that intelligent with the ability to share in a way that is so honest and passionate is beautiful. Poetic. He even has a sense of humor!
I love Neil's uncontrollable laugh at the end, it's great.
You can tell right there how much of a nerd he is.
These two are a riot together, there's a long interview Colbert did a couple yrs back w/ Tyson that's an hour 30 just like this
+Fluffy Panda Hateration. . . . .poor little creature.
+Fluffy Panda fuck off.
+Josh McDonald That's where I lost it holy shit
Neil Tyson is so passionate about science. I love it!
+ArtisanTony What does water on mars have to do with liberalism? I'm not saying he isn't a liberal, but it's a little silly to say he isn't passionate about science.
+ArtisanTony the fuck?

I love that you can see Mr. Tyson's enthusiasm and joy for what he does for a living. I envy that.
+bored312 well taking a job that you love isn't that hard sometimes, but it may mean lower pay and not paying the bills depending on the job...
+bored312 I was actually thinking the same thing when I saw the video. The man seems genuinely happy, like really happy with where he is in life. I envy that too...

+Mikhail Kalashnikov That's so true. The way he explains very complex concepts to ensure the common viewer is able to grasp the fundamental ideas behind them makes him a great ambassador for science.
+Mikhail Kalashnikov Lucky bas***d!
+ThePharphis nye gets a lot of stuff wrong with this process. Neil is always right,
I'm glad you called him a communicator and not like a scientist that makes discoveries. not that he isn't a scientist, just that he's more popular science
Honestly, Neal is such a blast. He's one of the few people who know how to make science appeal to the general public, who otherwise wouldn't care about it.
+CMA Productions Neil and Bill, the bad asses of science.
+CMA Productions agree'd, but I'm not so sure it's working :(
+CMA Productions Yet he gets so much resistance from religious nut jobs. The man is simply trying to educate the world.
+Dax Technically Bill is an engineer, not a scientist. :P
+CMA Productions pretty sad that it takes this much for them to get people interested in science
Stephen's suit is incredible
He probably wore that for Neil
+Jonathan Roberson of course
love Neil's starry night tie as well
+Jonathan Roberson I think he stole it off Niel before the show, seen him wear it before
+Belt4in1 niel wore that on bill maher i think
Oh my god I fucking love science
+Zen Leaf I love science... loving my neighbor is conditional.
+DamoT Me too, as long as I'm not the one doing it
+DamoT Who dosent

Tender geek underbelly sounds delicious. Bit of rosemary, some mashed potatoes..
+Kabitu1 ...Ah, damnit. I was gonna make a joke about rosemary, but she's dead and that's just rude.
+Kabitu1 as long as it is not a greek underbelly, I think I would be afraid of to much hair in the potatoes in that case ;)
+Kabitu1 I prefer some fava beans and a nice chianti...
+Kabitu1 But not David Crosby's! Too much rancid sausage!
It is good. I recommend it highly.
Neil is oozing with awesomeness!!!
+Sarah Anders Awesomesauce
Neil would love that description, I guarantee it.
A video of Tyson just gesturing with his hands could make it on youporn.
*I'm digging Neil's "Starry Night" tie and Stephen's sun vest.*
Can we just take a moment to appreciate Neil's tie?
I LOVE when these two are together :D
plot twist, the europeans were the aliens all along and the natives were right!
+Shea Lupkes underrated comment
im not an alien even if i replied 2 years after your comment i am not an alien
Too bad it'd be Europan* and not European.
@@thevannmann That's only because European already exists. Maybe us Euros are the aliens and named our continent after out home moon!

ur right
stephen is my hero
I hope Stephen keeps this long as Letterman did. Stephen is absolutely killing it so far
Stephen loves having him on so much
He's giddy
The Universe After Hours.... lol I'd watch that! xD
same.
I love Tyson so much that if I ever see him I want to give him a hug. He looks like the type of person that would give the best cuddles
lol that dorky laugh at the end. love hiim
Neal Tyson is like the Steve Irwin of science!! TOO AWESOME!!
+Snuffy Smif Let's hope he doesn't get stabbed in the heart then.
Neil*
"Science is naughty with Neil Tyson. That's not a bad show, that could be your next show!"
I'd watch that show. I'd SOOO watch that show 🙌🏼
I could never get enough Neil!
The one person who disliked this must dislike life
Astrophysics And science=liberal?
+ArtisanTony LOL you just go along every comment here and type the same stupid shit. You're right. Science is TOTALLY liberal propaganda. GET A LIFE/BRAIN!
Hate to start a debate, but maybe they are Christian. Or a climate conspiracy theorist. Y'know.
As an italian I appreciate the hand-gesturing
Colbert is wearing his Neil deGrasse Tyson vest!
I was at the doctor's today and reading Dr. Tyson's book "Death by Blackhole" for about the tenth time and one of the nurses recognized him and his book. Pretty cool conversation after that.
Neil is my favorite person in the cosmos!
Okay, I've heard that one about Europeans countless times. It still gets me every single time.
I can see a meme coming out of that "Come on!"
have him on every week, he's amazing!! 😁 and I can't afford a cable package hehe, bring him to the basic cable masses!!!
I could listen to that man explain science all damn day
For those who don't know Neil Tyson is the guy who detained Pluto from planets.
He didn't detain Pluto.. He created a poll on whether or not it should be detained and the public voted Pluto out.. Know your sh*t before speaking..
+Prasad Bankar DEMOTED* And get over it! It's still out there, it hasn't disappeared! Besides, if you call it a planet, then there's a bunch of other objects relatively close to it that you'd have to call planets too. Trust me Pluto is much happier now
Subuzgreatest I don't hate him just giving some info out
Subuzgreatest Also, it wasn't a public poll, it was a vote by the International Astronomical Union. YOU should know YOUR shit before speaking.
+Jim Lawton Thank God it wasn't a public poll. Why should people with zero knowledge vote in a subject that requires some?
He is too amazing....well..both of them
WAIT JUST A DAMN MINUTE, THEY SWITCHED OUTFITS! Stephen is wearing Neil's sun/moon vest and Neil is wearing Stephen's suit!
Finally. Thanks for having a great guest.
Colbert has a new show? Damn, living in Europe has it's disadvantages..... like not being informed whenever a divine being like him get's a new show. I'm so happy right now.
Projectfreetv has all 35 episodes he's done so far on their site.
I live in Europe and I've seen his show here from the beginning
+Alexander Smith Clearly I have some catching up to do. I watched a few episodes when he first started but stopped because of workload. I love Stephen.
Vest is so appropriate. What a sign of respect...I love it....
Love how they both dressed up for this (Tyson=tie, Colbert=vest)
Colbert is wearing Niel's vest.
I love the respect and admiration Stephen has for Neil. He's wearing the same vest that Neil wore to his show a while back...
This is grate pls more Neil!
"tugging on it", brilliant.
"see what swims up to the camera lens... and licks it!" so action packed, this man!
+erica how did you meet your boyfriend?
he's so genuine, oh my god I can't stop smiling
Stephen wearing NDT's vest is the best thing I've seen today 😍
He is so enthuasiastic that he seems hilarious
I actually got to see Neil for free at my University when I was a freshman, the club I am a part of raised money and got the school to host him.
I love how Neil pronounces water "worter"
This clip is too short doggoneit. I don't have a TV, and live in Europe (in fact have become a European).
Not within conscious memory, thank you.
+Arpa de Lluna there are a ton of international websites that host full videos of the late show
+Sm ramgator Really? Give me another clue. ANd then we both erase these comments.... :-D many thanks
Arpa de Lluna eh you're an internet pleb
+Sm ramgator Internet plebeian?¿? Yes, I'm afraid so.
I absolutely LOVE Neil deGrasse Tyson!!! He is an amazing inspiration for who and what I want to be when I grow up!
sweet laugh at 2:58 wholesome
I love how in the 80s they swore up and down there was no liquid water outside of Earth and how this was the bane of space travel. Now we find water on Mars, Europa, and Encellidus. And fuel on Titan.
Enceladus* I'm really sorry it bugged me.
Dr. Tyson is funny and smart. He's the ultimate man's man.
You sound gay.
+Davin Ellicson you sound like an idiot
I learned more in this video than I did in one year is science class.
Love your Science show.
"ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS EXCEPT EUROPA. ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE." So I'm guessing no ice fishing there, eh? LOL
Any Space Odyssey series fans?? When Tyson mentioned Jupiter's moon, Europa, I instantly thought of Tsien and the submarine creatures that fed on the geothermal currents under the seas.
That Europa and "europeans!" bit just blew my mind
i love that tie
I love learning from this dude
Two awesome guys together! Yea!
big fan and truly inspired by mr Neil.stay alive and keep sharing fairs
He's always so energetic. He has the enthusiasm of small child. I think scientists are very childlike really. They never lose the sense of wonder.
Truth gives confidence.
The laugh at the end gets me every time! xD
OMG STARRY NIGHT! THAT'S WHAT MY CREDIT CARD ARTWORK IS! I LOVE THAT PAINTING X.X
This was a good interview
this aired on my birthday lol awesome
Man this guy shows how passionate people don't concern themselves with money
Tyson, you're my hero.
I wish I loved something as much as Neil loves science.
Tyson is da bomb! So entertaining and educational
Neil is so fun to watch!
He tells that European joke to literally everyone, any time he talks somewhere, lol.
+TARDIS Funny everytime
"When you're in love, you want to tell the whole world about it."
~ Carl Sagan
+Johnson Taylor Oh, I never said it was.
I'm actually glad he can still laugh about it as much as he does.
It's Europan, not European, de Grasse ... 👽
Del Parrish It ain't even official yet, he's just trying to setup a joke, let the guy be jolly
Tyson is a global treasure
ALL HAIL NEIL TYSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neil deGif Tyson
Stephen needs to be on StarTalk.
Neil was really fond of his joke at the end there... hahaha XD
His laugh gives me life
That dead sea joke though lmao
I love Colbert's shirt it beats Tyson's Tie!
that laugh at the end lol
Coincidentally I share a birthday with Neil. Don't know if this is a sign, but I enjoy that fact.
Stephen's wearing Neil's gilet! LOL
I like anything with Tys in it.
Naughty Science
~with Neil
Nobody does it better
That last "Europeans" joke was the nerdiest thing ever, i love it!! :D
Neil is so cuuuuuuuuuteeeeee!!!
I remember watching old science and technology programs and first seeing Neil back before he was famous and was just like, 'Damn this guys is eccentric ass fuck.' I wonder what ever happened to Michio Kaku, I havent kept up with him ever since Degrasse became the successor to Sagan.
I love how absolutely tickled he is by his own jokes! 😂
"I'm gonna bussoff!" - MARS
I simply love him
Stephen is wearing mr. Tysons vest from the other interview. just noticed that.
I love Neil.
Totally geeking out to that tie!!!! Aaaaaaah! Neil Tyson, Colbert, and Vincent Van Gogh! Sigh!!!!
Neil is a wonderful and witty speaker as was his mentor Carl Sagan. Being that intelligent with the ability to share in a way that is so honest and passionate is beautiful.
Poetic.
He even has a sense of humor!
I absolutely love his voice lol, he's like a super genius Seth Rogen lol
