Hi Rabbi, it is really great to hear the Jews talk this way. For me, I am a woman, a nonjew who was in complete darkness. I wanted to die because there was no good there. But I decided to live because someone told me once to believe in the Jew. Now, I am strong and can look back on that day. I never stopped believing in the Jew, that star, that the Gentiles told me about. I am thankful for that piece of advice because now I see Him. The challenge is for the Jew now to also see Him in the woman 🙏 When the Jew sees the Jew, we all will believe in Him, and Torah becomes written on our heart because we are living it. We are Torah. Torah is our love for one another.

The same deity we know for a perfect record of doing nothing, is adored & a servant for unmeasurable prayers, rather than a tool of fiction. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Getting directions from fantasyland works well for fascists, authoritarians. So, marvel not it is said, you must be born again, astounding rubbish is such that every Alex Jones in the country knows enough Jesus-lingo to put in the sales-pitch.

Once upon a time, in a small village nestled amidst rolling hills and verdant pastures, there lived a wise old rabbi. He was renowned far and wide for his sagacity and his ability to solve the most vexing of problems.

The people who lived in that time in Israel rejected Him ( the vast majority), but a few believed and wrote the New Testament, a book we as christians have in our Bible. We also have Torah as you have, which is very important in our study because it points to the person of Jesus Christ.

I don’t it interesting how many Christian’s are watching Rabbi Anava’s teachings. Speaks about the days before messiah when 10 gentiles will take hold of one Jew and ask him to teach them Torah. I understand your beliefs about who the messiah is, but Jews do not accept Jesus as Messiah for many many reasons, mostly that he does not have the correct lineage, and does not fulfill the messianic prophecies (bringing world peace the first time!). 1) Worldwide Peace

3) The resurrection of the dead

5) the third Temple
And several other important events.

Christendom has the future messiah’s role all wrong.
In order to identify the future messiah and his role as messiah, as well as the time when messiah will arrive we must pay attention to TaNaKh.
For example,
He must be Jewish
Deuteronomy 17:15
“…you may appoint a kind over you, whom YHVH your God shall choose; one from among your brethren shall you set as king over you.”
He must be a member of the tribe of Judah.
Genesis 49:10
“The staff shall not depart from Judah, nor the scepter from between his feet…”
Jesus was not from the human tribe of Judah, because according to the Christian doctrine (a Greek manuscript) Jesus was only born from a human mother and lacked the human father to make him eligible as messiah).
He must be a direct descendant of King David and King Solomon.
2 Samuel 7:12-13
“And when your (David) days are fulfilled, and you shall sleep with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will make firm the throne of his kingdom forever….”
Again, Jesus was never from the human tribe of Judah. A mother determines whether someone is Jewish or not, the father determines the tribal affiliation.
Jesus (according to the Christian doctrine) apparently never had a human father in order to trace his human tribal affiliation.
He must gather the Jewish people from exile and return them to Israel.
Isaiah 11:12
“And he shall set up a banner for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.”
He must rebuild the third temple in Jerusalem.
Ezekiel 37:26-27
“….and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forever and My tabernacle shall be with them….”
He will rule at a time of worldwide peace.
Micah 4:3
“….they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn of war anymore.”
He will rule at a time when the Jewish people will observe God’s commandments.
Ezekiel 37:24
“My servant David shall be king over them; and they shall have one shepherd (David); they shall follow My ordinances and be careful to observe My statutes.”
He will rule at a time when all people will come to acknowledge and serve one God.
Isaiah 66:23
“And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me, says YHVH.”
All of these criteria are best stated in the Book of Ezekiel chapters 37:24-28.
If an individual fails to fulfill even one of these conditions, then he cannot be “the messiah.”
A careful analysis of these criteria shows us that, to date, no one has fulfilled every condition.

I've never understood what was so wonderful about messianic prophecy. Why would anyone want to return to a monarchy, a social caste system and animal sacrifice? Plus Torah law? If anyone tried implementing Torah law, enforcing it in society today, there would be a mass revolt. Like 99% of the world's population would revolt.
What kind of just and loving god would establish such an unjust and unrighteous system? And while some of Torah law is timeless, others, not so much. Some of those punishments are way overboard. Horrific even.
I really don't get why everyone wants this so bad. It would mean the end of everything. No more learning, no more growing, no more evolving. It would be absolute stagnation.
I would expect most Jews today would rather meshiach stay wherever he's hiding. Thanks, but we've moved beyond those antiquated laws and systems.
Plus resurrection? Well that's just ridiculous. Why would we even want resurrection? Even if our bodies somehow regenerated, forever is a long time. We are mortal for a reason. We aren't built for eternity.

But messianic age as a literal thing? That's beyond ridiculous and this is one Jew who won't be holding my breath.

I don't even understand why this is still a thing. I mean, we know Tanach is an imperfect, fallible text created by men. This is a nice hopeful dream, but that's all meshiach is, a dream, a hope for the future.

Worse, everyone who died will supposedly be "resurrected" for eternity. WHICH IS HORRIFIC. That's the worst part by far.
Sure a world of peace is ok and all, but well, impossible without dictatorial control managing our every emotion and action. Like automatons.
Eternity? Every human would go absolutely mad after 10,000 years max, let alone eternity. You'll all want a way out, but there won't be a way out, because the authoritarian sky tyrant won't allow it.
And what happens when the earth explodes and the universe eventually collapses? We will al be floating in a void, unable to move, talk or do anything. That's an absolute nightmare.
Thankfully there is no messiah, there is no anthropomorphic sky tyrant that used to be a Bronze age storm and war god, called "YhWh', who the Egyptians called "Set".
Thankfully it's all a figment of man's imagination. And is never , ever , ever going to happen.
So I am not ACTUALLY worried. Because it's not going to happen. And there is no big sky tyrant watching our every move, or that cares about ANYTHING we do.
The source/essence of existence is of course the source/essence of existence, whatever that thing is.
But humans, one's who can't cope with their own ego death, have long conflated the avatars, the symbolic personifications, of our human values and natural phenomenon like Zeus, Yhwh, Baal, Osiris etc..., with the source/essence of existence. When in reality, these are two completely different things. One must exist for anything to exist, based on simple deduction. And the other is OVERTLY and blatantly, a figment of man's imagination. Just like everything written in every holy book ever created, BY MAN, who yes, created every single one.
You of course believe whatever you want to believe. It's your right. But wasting this life, "waiting, waiting, waiting" for some future world that will never ever come, is kind of sad. So many delusional people wasting the only chance at existence they will ever have, for some imagined future utopia that can't POSSIBLE exist.
Everything within existence, aside from existence itself, is finite, for a reason. Because there is no time without change. Time is an illusion we use to mark changes in matter and location through space. Aging, distance, speed, growth, erosion, etc...
And this concept that "God" is outside of time and space is inane and silly. Nothing can be outside of time and space. If something is outside of time, it simply doesn't exist. Because anywhere energy exists, time exists.
So either this "God" IS existence/eternity itself, meaning it survives for ALL Of time, or it doesn't exist.
And I don't mean time within our universe. Time is not necessarily restricted to our universe unless our universe is everything there is. Which is unlikely from the perspective of modern physics at least. But also something we can never know.
And what's sadder is the cycle abuse that passes this delusion on from one generation to the next. Filling kids minds with lies and deceit.
The God of Deuteronomy, Exodus etc.. is an absolute horrific tyrant. That is not a God that demands respect, it's a God that demands to be laughed at and scoffed. Ordering genocide, ordering the murder of those who built the golden calf, ordering all kinds of horrors. So that a completely unjust and unrighteous social caste can be forced upon a population. And to justify an unjust monarchy and social caste.
The God of Genesis isn't so bad, totally a different God than in Deuteronomy though. At least that one creates some things.
But what kind of "omnipotent" and "omniscient" "God", feels things like petty jealousy, rage, vengeance, envy, hate, love...... that is an absolute contradiction. Such an entity would not experience ANY of these human emotions. These STORIES are humans projecting their own values onto a symbolic avatar. And then confusing that symbolic avatar, with the actual esencce of creation.
When I was in Hebrew School, at least 75% of my peers understood this was just mythology. And we would ask questions that no Rabbi could answer lol. And we would point out all the horrors that "YhwH' inflicted upon his creation, and told the Israelties to carry out, and we were just answered with solipsism and sophistry.
And I've listened to hundreds of Rabbis since, and hundreds of priests, and Imams, and Brahamans, and so on. And every single one is as deluded as the next. Coming up with half-brained rationalizations as to why a human created text says one thing rather than another. Excuses, excuses, excuses, combined with intense cognitive dissonance.
Fact of the matter is, if some "God", tried enforcing Torah law, over modern society, 90% of the human population would revolt violently. Because the laws of Torah are UNJUST and UNRIGHTEOUS, relative to today's standard. This is a FACT. You can pretend otherwise if you like. But if THAT "god" ever tried imposing its will on humanity, most of humanity today would llaugh and scoff at it.
And I say "tried" because that God of Torah is CLEARLY not omnipotent nor omniscient. He competes with other "gods" over the attention of man, he loses out to other gods, iike when the King of Moab sacrificed his first born on the wall, causing Elisha's (prophecy) to completely fail, sending the Israelites scurrying home with their tails between their legs. THAT is not an omnipotent deity.
Plus, you do realize TOrah was not handed to Moses at Mt. Sinai right? It didn't even exist until around the 6th/7th century BCE. And then only the Deuteronomic laws were created. As told in kings during the Josian reforms, when the YhWH only cultists burned down all the other YhWh temples, forced people to worship in Jerusalem, so they could enrich themselves from the temples income, and inflicted destruction upon the people of the land. And then tried to GLORIFY themseves lol. Burning all the "asherah", YhwH's former wife, who was represented by a pole, or small cedar tree kept inside all the YhWh temples, aside his standing stone.
Heck, El, is just the Phoenician solar deity, Elohim jus the Phoenician pantheon, and YhWh just one of the 70 children of El. These all existed LONG befor ethere were any Israelites. Before the backwoods, hilbilly Phoenicians, who are my ancestors, decided to call themselves "Israelites"> Hebrew, is just a dialect of Phoenician. A dialect that came AFTER common Phoenician.
And truly, truly, there is NO evidence of widespread Judaism, being practiced in Judah or Samaria, until the 2nd century BCE. Yes, that's right, what we know of today as Judaism, is just one branch of Judaism, that didn't exist until the 2nd century BCE.
Heck neither the Hasmoneons or Sadducees, used the Ketuviim or Neviim, they were Torah only. They didn't believe in resurrection, in a universal savior messiah, in a conscious afterlife.... ALL of these concepts entered Judean life with Alexander and the Greeks, straight out of Greek mythology. As countless Greek heroes descended to the underworld and were "reborn". Prometheus, Orpheus and so on. And this Hero figure, this idea of a universal savior, was completely Hellenistic. And they juxtaposed the concept of "messiah", which just meant anointed, on to this universal savior concept.
"Created in OUR image", refers to the Elohim, the pantheon of gods. The Giants who were cohabitating with human women before the "flood", were minor gods. This was no different than Zeus coming down and having his way with a human woman, and her giving birth to Herracles, or Cyclops, or the Satyr, or Perseus and so on.
It's hysterical that we, Jews, think we were somehow different or special than EVERYONE else in the Mediterranean. We weren't. We literally were Phoenician/Canaanites. The YhWH only cults, began to gain power around the period of Josia, and that's when we really when "monotheism" began. Or really Henotheism. Real monotheism probably didn't exist until after the return from Babylon, when all the Ketuviim and nEviim were beign written. And then the Hsmoneons forced THIS particular version of Torah on the populations of udah and Samaria. And that is based on historical account, not just textual analysis.
THIS is why only 10% of modern Jews are Orthodox, and only about another 15-20% are "Conservative". And why something like 70% of Jews don't even believe that Torah is the direct and literal word of God. And why like 50% of modern JEws don't even believe in an anthropomorphic God figure. We are one of the MOST secular populations on the planet, and ISrael one of the most secular nations on the planet.
And truly, this isn't a personal attack. This is just the REALITY of our situation. If that upsets you, I'm very sorry. But fact is fact, and truth is truth. And the truth and religious texts rarely overlap. And I'm not suggesting there is no history in Tanach. But it's mythology, a loose historical recollection, clothed in legend and lore.
Heck, Daniel wasn't even written until the 2nd century BCE, like what, 200 years after it's supposed to have been written? Daniel was NEVER handed to Alexander, and Daniel himself never gave Cyrus a prophecy. In fact, how Cyrus treated the Jews, was not special at all. He sent EVERYONE in captivity in Babylon, back to their respective homes and rebuilt ALL their temples. Which is why NONE of these encounters are mentioned in Persian or Greek history. Nabonidus was the last King of Babylon, not Nebu, and Darius the Mede didn't even exist in reality.

The Messiah already came 2000years ago in a donkey. The Bible says a Isiah he was Pierced for our iniquities, he was rejected ,a man of sorrow acquainted with grief. Jesus is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. Without shedding of blood there's no remission of sins. Moshiach is foretold within scripture to come to us in different manners (riding a donkey's colt and coming on a cloud) and would come in differing time periods (at a set schedule and when unexpected.) Moreover, scriptures say that Moshiach can be either someone alive or someone who has passed away and comes back...The early Jewish sages addressed these "contradictions" by concluding there must be two messiahs. But this conclusion was erroneous. What the sages were actually seeing within scripture are the two separate and distinct. comings of the messiah. Yes, God's Word tells us Moshiach would be born into our world and then be "cut-off" from the land of the living and then come again. The scriptures even tell us what the messiah's name would be. Here is what the scriptures' say:
The Tanakh tells us repeatedly that God Himself will come into our world as the messiah.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel." (Isaiah 7:14)
"He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." (Daniel 3;25)
“I will also walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.” (Leviticus 26:12)
We are told to worship Moshiach
"Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him." (Psalm 2:12)
But we are also told the messiah would be rejected:
"He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not." (Isaiah 53:3)
“For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.” (Psalm 22:16)
Moreover, the Hebrew scriptures repeatedly tells us the messiah's name:
"Truly my soul finds rest in God;
my YESHUA comes from him." (Psalm 62:1)
"The Lord is my light and my YESHUA; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" ((Psalm 27:1)
"For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent,
for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet,
till her vindication shines out like the dawn,
her YESHUA like a blazing torch.
. (Isaiah 62:1)
“Let all the world look to me for YESHUA. For I am God; there is no other.” (Isaiah 45:22)
Further still, we are told that salvation only comes from the LORD.
"The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord." (Psalms 37:39)
"On God rests my salvation and my glory. (Psalms 62:7)
"I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior. (Isaiah 43:11)
"And there is no other god besides me, a righteous God and a Savior; (Isaiah 45:21)
"What I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!” (Jonah 2:9)
Do you believe the Word of Almighty God is true? Because God's Word says the Messiah will die and will come back.
"And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined." (Daniel 9:26)
"He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken." (Isaiah 53:8)
The Jewish peoples rejection of the Anointed One is also foretold within scripture.

Do NOT be deceived. The Mishnah and the Talmud are NOT Holy scripture. The oral Torah is NOT God's Word. Rabbinical teachings often contradict God's Word. Don't exalt men over our Most High God!!! Don't reject our loving, merciful God's plan for you eternal salvation in order to preserve your man-made culture and traditions. Don't allow the evil one to use your pride-of-life against you. Do not choose to love your life more than you love the Most High God. It is only by coming to faith in the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua, that we can be saved.
"Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign LORD comes escape from death." (Psalm 68:20)
Please hear this: If you haven't come to faith in Jesus as the Christ, you are rejecting God's glorious plan for your eternal life with Him. Don't let the evil one steal your salvation. Don't allow the enemy to use the pride-of-life against you!!

So many mistranslations in these passages you are quoting. If you want to be a Christian, be a Christian but this site is for Jews and people who want Jewish Torah. If you don’t believe in jewish commentaries on the Torah why are you here and not on some Christian website? Ah because deep down you known what Rabbi Anava is teaching is truth. deuteronomy clearly states that God is not a man. The first commandment prevents us from having any other Gods. There is one God. Not father and son. Jews do not need to ask anyone other than God himself for forgiveness. It’s written clearly in the psalms and Torah.. that’s never going to change.
Does Messiah also mean king?
The Messiah will also be king, though the word doesn’t translate into king.
In the Messiah religion, the Messiah is always coming.

Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world :)
@SB, if you only know the scripture better or were more honest in its interpretation, you would know that God provided the lamb right in front of Abraham (Gen. 22:13), and it was duly sacrificed as a burnt offering (which Jesus was not). So its fulfilment did not have to wait for Jesus to come. God fulfilled it there and then! If God had not provided the ram, then Christians would be all over the text, claiming that only Jesus can fulfil it. But God removed such a Christian claim.
