The reason Steven could get through the cells was because Gems are made of light, and the tech is designed to keep their bodies in, but since his body is human, he can walk through just fine.
6:44 Fun Fact: Rebecca Sugar, the Creator, explained it as such: It's kinda like with a kid. A kid will know so much about anything as much as you tell them. So, Malachite, and by so Jasper, couldn't have know what Lapis Lazuli was planning, unless she herself wanted them/her to.
Gems are just hard holograms being run by the sapient crystal supercomputer embedded in the hologram. Steven is squishy but mostly real. Something else that’s real: Garnet’s BARS. Jasper is TOTALLY just pised to be single.
I think Christine is starting to get an idea of what the answer is to her question from episode 1: "were people crying because it was over, or were people crying because of emotions?"
In terms of shared knowledge, the shows creator describes fusions as the children of the gems that compose them. They only know what their parents are willing to tell them.
Garnet is the embodiment of Ruby and Sapphire’s love for each other and her own person Malachite represents a toxic relationship which is why Malachite doesn’t have her own identity an is just Lapis and Jasper
God I always tear up when I see Ruby and Sapphire fusing into Garnet. They are my first exposure to same-sex relationships, their relationship is beautiful and I cannot wait for you to see more of them. This show has really pushed queer rep in not just animation but as a whole in media. I'm pretty sure this episode aired before same sex marriage was legalized in the US.
By about three months! This episode aired in March 2015, and full equal marriage rights came in June 2015. Nobody was doing it like Steven Universe, and it continues to inspire and pave the way for queer shows today~
@@Saltheslab oh! No, it's in June because June 28th is the anniversary of the Stonewall riots but I never realized that coincidence before that's so awesome actually
6:47 when you are in harmony like Garnet the fusion became more than the people who fuse they create a completely different person but when your fusion is not like that its just like 2 people sharing a one body like Malachite (Lapis and Jasper's fusion name) also even if the fusion is in harmony the other people can be still apparent again when the harmony is starting to loose
Do u remember watching the song Stronger Than You with Undertale animations? Well, it's ok if u don't, it has been years since ur reactions of Garnet's song in Undertale Animations

Well, "just fine"

“Stronger Than You” remains one of the franchise’s biggest bangers

That’s a burn in more ways than one.
HONEY WAKE THE KIDS CHRISTINE JUST POSTED!!

Love this episode. This episode is so iconic, especially the song.
Awesome video as always!
This is one of the best episodes. Garnet's song by Estelle was so awesome. Lapis and Jasper's fusion was scary

Even though I’ve seen the schedule I’m always pleasantly surprised when I see a Steven reaction ❤❤
This is where Steven Universe shows itself as the Dragonball/Sailormoon crossover we've always needed
Fun fact:malachite is toxic in water.
