Fun fact. Bismuth is actually a metal. When bismuth crystals oxidize, they become an alluring, magical rainbow color. This is because the oxide layer that forms in the crystal surfaces varies in thickness, which causes different wavelengths of light to combine.
Between Pearl’s exposition to Bismuth and Garnet’s story in the Answer, we now know the Gem War started around 5,750 years ago and lasted for like a thousand. There was written history by that point. The Egyptians were just getting started, but the Sumerians were going strong around that time, and they had Ziggurats, like Pearl said there was a battle over. So, Gems are, like, a regular part of human history. That explains why the humans in Steven’s world are so uninterested in Gem stuff.
This is so interesting there's probably classes and theories on gem tech in the su world. The gems must've been a huge influence on culture at the time
Bismuth is such a complex character. Especially in terms of rewatching this show. It's a shame she doesn't have much screentime or become a main character. I mean we kinda knew she wasn't before the episode even aired because it was revealed Uzo Aduba is her VA, and like Nikki Minaj, she isn't cheap, she is more reasonable then Nikki but still. Also in the context of the show. Also I seen people say that Bismuth is a racist stereotype for black women. I don't see it, but then again, I'm whiter than snow.
I have criticisms of the Bismuth episode, but i'll save them for the end of the series (before the movie & spinoff) as I still love watching unspoiled reactions of the show as is. I don't think my critiques are as overly harsh as some other fans who decided to drop the show after this point (tho I also don't think they should be ridiculed for wishing things had gone differently). Again this is probably still one of the top 10 best episodes of the series, but its definitely the most controversial for how it portrays Bismuth by the end, considering what she went through, and what's revealed by the season finale. That's all I'll say.
@@SaltheslabI’m more about how she (spoiler) did go with it in the end and all of Earth ended up corrupted. Killing the bad things is all well and good but you really got to have a *chance* first. Mind control rays just ain’t gonna let you carry out that sentence.

Bismuth’s voice is Uzo Aduba! The women who played Crazy Eyes in Orange is the New Black.
Fun fact. When Lapis showed herself getting poofed, it was done by a suspiciously large gem with a familiar set of rainbow dreadlocks.

where we start to learn rose quartz wasn’t all she was cracked up to be. Get it, cracked up, bc she’s a gem……..

This foreshadowing is insane

9:13 At this part bismuth pants disappear
I love this episode so much!! Bismuth is amazing ❤
just a reminder (not spoiler), Rose and Bismuth had a "thing", which makes Roses betrayal even worse
That really just makes the lines before the sword poofed her hurt more
About how little she thought she mattered
And Rose didn't tell their friends
Ow
I thought Bismuth had a crush on Pearl
@@SilverScribe85 Rebecca recently posted some early drawings were Rose and Bismuth are making out
@SilverScribe85 their thing is more so after Rose is gone. It's seen more in future, tho this episode does have some moments
Based on a few scribbles from years before the show got there?
Haha, your singing is so cute. It's always such a joy to watch your videos :)
1:16 ❤❤❤yw
Crazy eyes from orange is the new black
Bismuth is a She not a he 😊
ngl I'm with Bismuth. The Diamonds are genocidal titans that have done what they did for centuries, they gotta go, they just do
Have you seen the whole show?
Yeah. Have you seen the whole show? Because you should realize why Rose was so hesitant with that idea.
