"do it for her" is a brilliant song musically. It's interesting to note that each character (at least each important character) has his/her own instrument or sound associated with them. For example Connie is a violin while pearl is a piano. The song brilliantly blends just those 2 instruments, the piano commands the melody throughout the song while the violin provides backup until we get to the end where they play the same melody implying that Connie is in step with pearl after training for so long. I absolutely love when the music adds subtext to the series. And SU has it's fair share of those.
Also important to note that the gems have been alive for thousands of years. Whatever traumas or love they once had has been intact for thousands of years, so it’s hard for them to shake out of it. I think it also reveals how little the gems are used to change and growth. Throughout the show they’re always in a constant process of adjustment, and it’s really because the concept of change is a new human concept to them. The show shamelessly depicts the process of experiencing and learning what it’s like to be human, and that encapsulates what makes the characters so real and relatable to me ❤️

Essentially as long as the Gem remains intact, they can just regenerate and keep fighting, they don’t need to eat or sleep or anything.
