    Thanks for being here! No updates to report yet, which i guess is a good thing!

    I appreciate someone that actually puts time into the writing and impeccable title design. Nothing extra, nothing missing, perfect audio levels. Rarely is youtube content this rarified, but this should be the standard

    Not sure if everyone is aware of this but you can increase your charge level by moving around the rock following the fault lines that show up when you're heating the rock. Which gives you a lot more control over the charge level as you have to use less laser power.

    4:00 this is easier with a Prospector than a Mole so I will use a Prospector to show the concept. A Helix I laser has a maximum range of 187.5 meters and an Optimum range of 7.5 meters.
    The power received by a rock at a range of 187 meters will be very close to 0 and at 7.5 meters will be at maximum power or 2300, the power over distance seems linear.
    While approaching a rock have laser at full power, when you see the charge level start to move, stop moving forward and continue applying full power, if the charge level is going up to fast back up a little, but use the mining throttle for fine tuning. Doing this will give you finer control of the laser power with laser throttle movement.

    That package mission marking is a good idea definitely didn’t think about that till now

      Its a good tip, although it's usually hard to remember to grab a package beforehand.
      One other thing I've noticed is that if you break the rocks first, then fly away, all the broken fragments despawn once you're outside of about 10km range.

    The mining interface has changed since my gaming PC died a while ago. Thanks for showcasing the improved interface and how to utilize it to best effect! Great video and info.

    I went through first 3 of these, and I have to say I'm impressed with the detail you go in to. I know all these things because I'm a long time miner myself but for anyone new getting in to the mining gameloop in SC, these are the best videos to watch. You explain everything with no guesswork, well done, awesome tutorials. I never mined in the Halo though because I kinda know how to avoid problems but that was useful info nevertheless.

    Every bug inside a ship I have encountered so far has been fixed by exiting and entering the seat again.

    Rocks are not round, If you are at minimum range and charge level is not moving, look for low spots, valleys, or dimples and mover your ship and or lasers to hit these low areas.
    It does not always work, but often enough to give it a try.

    I rented a prospector and I'm on 100% intensity with the stock laser. but the charge level doesnt move. Mass is 3023

    • @RedMonsterSC
      @RedMonsterSC  2 роки тому

      You should be able to crack a 3k mass rock on any laser. Make sure you're close enough that you're within optimal range.

    So, is the Good break/Bad break just luck/random? Or is it based on how optimal you break the rock?

    5:03 I had a rock after the 1st break. It didn't show any progress on the charge of the rock, even tho i powered up the laser. I noticed the rock gettting red though and before I could do anything it exploded taking out my ship of course lol. Was it a bug that it didnt show the progress on the right side? And I needed to maybe just stop and start again idk.

      In this case it's one of two things going on. First, if there are multiple rocks stacked closely together, you may have been seeing scan data from one rock, but actually putting charge level into another rock. This happens sometimes as the scan point and laser beam aren't perfectly aligned. Second option may have been the rock already being small enough to extract, so it didn't display the charge level bar. I've seen a handful of first breaks do this, especially when you're starting off with a small mass deposit.
      If you get the audio cues that the rock is heating up but you don't see the corresponding charge level, back off and try to get a clean angle on the rock.

    You should explain that if you claim your ship you lose all your adaptors/consumables. Which is irritating.

    Red, do you have any tips regarding gpu/monitor/game settings to make the display easier to see? Usually for me the mining HUD is a bright wash making it difficult to discern charge level, laser intensity, node stats, etc.

    • @RedMonsterSC
      @RedMonsterSC  2 роки тому +1

      Unfortunately there aren't many visual settings you can change on your game client to fix this. I generally try to point my prospector in a direction where the HUD has a nice dark backdrop to try and make it a little more legible. There's at least one issue council report open for this that you could help contribute to: issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-20985

      @@RedMonsterSC If mining on a sunny planet and the glare from the surface makes the interface hard to see. Position your Prospector so the most important part of your mining interface is in the shadow of the ship or the shadow of the rock that you are trying to fracture, works on asteroids also.
      And damn good videos keep up the good work
