@ghost mall James is one of the few original youtubers that are still around. Channels like Smosh, Jenna Marbles, =3, Pewdiepie all decided to go to other direction. Either for personal reasons or just right idiocy (Anthony leaving Smosh because he wanted to be more open, and Ray ending =3 because he wanted do more projects). I hope this new style of AVGN which combines a lot of what we loved about the old style but with the updated looks of the new style will continue going forward as the feel of this episode has taken me right back to 2010 when I started watching AVGN.
I’m honestly so impressed with James’ self awareness - “When you knock them down, they get up all over again, so you gotta fight them all over again” I remember some video when James calls himself out on repeating words or phrases in his dialogue. So to see him bring that to light again makes me really happy. It’s minor - but I noticed hahahah!

Ernie was the one who did the “Rubber Duckie” song which was the B-side to “Sesame Street”. I remember seeing the 45 of “Sesame Street” and “Rubber Duckie” on the flip.

I'm speechless, this episode brought me so much joy, every joke lands perfectly, watched it after a 10 hour day of work and gotta say it's my favorite out of your last 50, cheers nerd!
The Ernie skit at the end was well done, something about Ernies patrionizing tone was hilarious, a nice breath of fresh air to the episodes, look forward to more funny skits.

LAST NINJA was originally designed for the Commodore 64, Amiga and MSDOS. It was meant to use a joystick for those difficult diagonal moves (not a joypad) .
Now all we need is AVGN killing Bert (and strangling his pet pigeon Bernice), beating up Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble (and killing Dino), then digging up the graves of Laurel and Hardy and blasting their ghosts with a proton pack).
It’s honestly amazing how James is able to continue releasing fresh Nerd content after all these years. This felt like a pre-movie episode in so many ways.
Legit thought that opening was a real lost Nerd episode for a moment! The way game footage was slightly fuzzy, the lighting, the old shirt, the way he spoke (repeating all over again), and of course the Mike artwork! You recreated the style and feeling of your old episodes to a T! Amazing episode. So excited for this season!
Having it return to a James/Mike feel was incredible. I grew to like the screenwave media guys, but this episode really drove home how hard I missed the old formula. Good job man.
Ah, it's beautiful. This is one of the best Nerd episodes to date. The slow return of vulgarity felt less forced like in the Megaman Games episode, it felt more like the Nerd was losing his patience before finally snapping and murdering that Ernie puppet. The jokes all throughout were splendid and genuinely humorous, and the return of the old explosion effect from '06 made me so wistful for those schooldays back in 2015 where I'd watch old Nerd episodes. I'm looking forward to more AVGN if it's written like this.
The fact AVGN is still going on strong after almost twenty years is a testament to everyone who worked on the show, especially the Nerd himself James Rolfe

I think it’s time to let Mike’s Title Cards be the thumbnail for the first 100 episodes.
Yaw
yee
haw
Agree.
Waw
The last episode made it feel like the AVGN was over.
Too many shitty games left
I thought Episode 200 is the grand finale of the AVGN series
I hope not
It was more like paying homage to the journey; But yeah he may have made it feel that way on purpose.
That's what I thought too.
The ending with Ernie was probably one of the best things I've seen in years!
Ernie was the one who did the “Rubber Duckie” song which was the B-side to “Sesame Street”. I remember seeing the 45 of “Sesame Street” and “Rubber Duckie” on the flip.
Couldn't agree more! Great episode!
Muppets aren't usually that conductive.
I couldn't help but feel a little hurt by that as an ending.
The more something means something to you, the more insulted you may feel when you see him attacked in a brutal way. At least that's what I think.
Easily one of the best modern AVGN episodes, vintage, classic AVGN feel here, and not gonna lie, if there ever is a future AVGN game, please let Ernie (maybe even in a ninja garb) be a boss in there!!
Ninjernie!
I love the old school nerd vibe. Also this made me laugh out loud uncontrollably. The boat scene killed me. Simply amazing :D
they absolutely were trolling with this game
Wooah hey cool to see you here
I don’t know, there were some terrible broken games back then
Bad port. Same for dark castle
I'm speechless, this episode brought me so much joy, every joke lands perfectly, watched it after a 10 hour day of work and gotta say it's my favorite out of your last 50, cheers nerd!
Same circumstances (10 hour workday), same opinion. This episode was incredible and I haven't laughed this much at AVGN in at least 2 years.
Agree, I’m loving it. I enjoy this more than 99% of what’s on tv these days
The 4:3 aspect ratio, the lighting, the atmosphere, everything! He took us back to the past
What a perfect way to kickoff the new season of AVGN
The Ernie skit at the end was well done, something about Ernies patrionizing tone was hilarious, a nice breath of fresh air to the episodes, look forward to more funny skits.
evil passive aggressive ernie is best ernie
The skit at the end is what gave it an old school AVGN episode IMO.
Ernie was on some other stuff! Haha!
This really makes you feel like the last ninja.
yoo proto love to see you here
That feeling where a youtuber you like watch the same video as you
where am I?
The exaggerated swagger of a ninja
He can't touch grass, dies in water, and hoards burgers...
Yep, he's a genshin impact player
When Ernie did his signature laugh I spit out my drink of water 😂
Ending him in the bathtub was brilliant. I got Pepsi man vibes ; just laugh after laugh 👩🏽🎤
Oh you think it's funny? -Ernie
LAST NINJA was originally designed for the Commodore 64, Amiga and MSDOS. It was meant to use a joystick for those difficult diagonal moves (not a joypad)
.
Now all we need is AVGN killing Bert (and strangling his pet pigeon Bernice), beating up Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble (and killing Dino), then digging up the graves of Laurel and Hardy and blasting their ghosts with a proton pack).
13:45 actually made me laugh really loud. Highly reminiscent of older AVGN videos. 🤣🤣🤣
26:05 😂
I very much agree with you.
13:47
It’s honestly amazing how James is able to continue releasing fresh Nerd content after all these years. This felt like a pre-movie episode in so many ways.
I haven’t laughed this hard to a avgn episode in years. Welcome back Mike!
This game used to drive me nuts on the C64!!
He does look a few years younger. just like, maybe 5 years younger. not 16
Fantastic episode!!!! Definitely felt like the older ones! I laughed so hard! 😂👏🏾👏🏾❤️
Beat box man loves angry nerd?
VERBALASE WATCHES AVGN?!?!?!? YOOOOO
Almost guaranteed it was less scripted, or, not scripted by hacks. This episode is why we hang on.
Cool you watch avgn
🐐 watching 🐐 •́ ‿ ,•̀
Having it return to a James/Mike feel was incredible. I grew to like the screenwave media guys, but this episode really drove home how hard I missed the old formula. Good job man.
Right now this is a patreon to give out the Screensaver guys address to veteran Franke Hassle

Finally, *a classic, 2006-styled AVGN episode.*
Man Ernie had it coming. This whole thing was disturbing. You should get an award for too much patience.
It's great to see Mike's drawings again. They were the most inspiring through out my teenhood
This is now an essential AVGN episode for any rewatches
The fact AVGN is still going on strong after almost twenty years is a testament to everyone who worked on the show, especially the Nerd himself James Rolfe
That ending with Ernie was hilarious
Well this was a treat: a new episode in the style of the old. It really was like finding a lost episode. More of this please!
Can't touch grass? Dies from water? Only eats fast food? Maybe I'm a ninja too 😳
This man is still going soooo strong. A legend of UA-cam.
This episode looks like James got his passion back! I hope you're able to keep it burning for many more years to come James.
I love that James's skits often head toward horror. They never get old, I hope he never changes. 😆
And grade 5 level of editing is awesome. Still holds up today lol
Wow. Such a fantastic episode! All-around brilliant
It’s great to know that AVGN still goes strong for 15 years
Nerd is 41 years old
@@TheKiller92272 He's referring to his channel.
@@TheKiller92272 Cosmo is not talking about James' age...
@@TheKiller92272 we're all gonna grow old and die some day
Right I thought the 200th episode was the last one I’m happy
Loved loved LOVED this episode. Felt just like the good old days of AVGN. Nothing complicated, just marvelously simple and game-focused.
I really miss this version of James, I need watching him since 06 and this is awesome
