    I'm going to start a campaign to stop calling cheap cameras "cameras for beginners". While there is some relationship between complex/expensive cameras and advanced users, that is a very imperfect relationship. A talented advanced user can win an Oscar by making a documentary with an a6000, an a6000 which, in that case, was not for a beginner. (end of campaign).

    They really put some magic into the A6000 I swear the color science and autofocus is somehow better than the other Sony apsc cameras. I mainly shoot on an FX9 and I'm still impressed with the A6000

    I’m using the a6000 for black and white street photography. I paired it with some good quality manual lenses. I love how the a6000 returned me to the basics. No stabilization, no problem… increase the speed. Low light… no problem…. using tripod. I use the camera in manual mode all the time. In B&W photography the high iso noise is not a big deal, it adds some “magic” to the photo. And as an extra advantage of using manual lenses is that batteries last a lot. I got the silver/black version of the a6000 with metal buttons and I have it attached to a leather neck strap. I like the general look of the camera. It looks very retro.
    With the other camera I have, an A7R4, I am so used to get the photo in all conditions, that sometimes I have the feeling that I only click the shoot button. No worries about focusing, keeping things steady, low lights, eyes, and the like. Which is perfect for getting the job done, btw. With the a6000 and manual lenses if I got the photo it was cause I did the things right and I can feel proud of that photo. In my case the a6000 is for a thing I call “photography art photos”, for personal pleasure.

    Still using my A6000 and numerous lenses. Still a great camera. It’s pretty much all I need. Lots of really good affordable lenses too. Sigma 30mm 1.4 is amazing and affordable. Even the 16-50mm kit lens is great for travel, it’s not as bad as the reviewers say it is.

    I highly recommend! A6000 with any of the sigma lenses you'll get superb quality! Only "negative" is the max quality on video being 1080p, so if you want the best of both worlds I believe the A6600 or any of the A7's would be better

    • @anonymousl5150
      @anonymousl5150 Рік тому +1

      1080p is so bad on Sony apsc that it is not usable even on the later generation, so it's definitely worth it to pay extra for 4K 24 fps if you ever plan to shoot any video. Sony 4K is very sharp and sharper than Fuji's without the artificial sharpening. In comparison, the 1080p on Fuji looks much better and goes to show not every 1080p and 4k are equal.
      The reason I don't recommend the Sony A6000 is if it is used there will be durability issues. Moisture related corrosion is always a thing with Sony bodies and I would pay the extra for a a6400 which is better sealed. Or look into Fuji apsc which tends to be cheaper for the quality you get. Fuji gets the exact same Sigma primes for budget users with even more options in primes and zooms.

    Im actually planning on selling my A6000. Its a hard decision because it was my beginner camera, I've learnt a lot about photography and videography while using it. But there are some major drawbacks for me which I'll list here
    - no Mic input (also the camera mic isnt great)
    - meak app connection (I've heard it gets better once you get to the A6300)
    - not being able to shoot in log (at the beginning, its definitely not a dealbreaker, but once you get into videography and esp. colour grading it gets a little annoying)
    Those three only apply to videography so for photography it definitely is a great camera, but when it comes to connectivity and audio quality it definitely lacks.
    Nevertheless it will always hold a special place in my heart! Got it ~6/7 years ago and I basically "grew up" with it.
    (just ignore any mistakes, English isn't my first language)

  • @apicbaekon

    Very nice video. My A6000 is my first mirrorless camera to purchase. I got into shooting DSLR photoG stuff in 2012 with my Nikon D5100 with a 300mm lens for action photography. I still pull it out for shoots. When I saw the abilities of using vintage lens on mirrorless, I was excited. The A6000 was my start due to my budget at the time. I purchases the Sony 18-135mm lens with it too so I could see how action shots would be in comparison. Let's say I am still trying to get my setting figured out. Not only was I wanting the camera to shoot photos, but I want it to serve for other content creation too. I wanted something I could use a an improved "web cam" for my streaming on twitch/YT. Also some videoG stuff too. The A6000 looks to be very versatile for everything.
    Being a guy know for "jack of all trades" - the camera really is the same as my personality. If you are a beginner and looking to make content, I highly recommend. I still need to get to some motorsports shoots with the camera, but I am feeling the comparison of my old DSLR with 300mm lens to the Sony and 135mm and the carrying weight is night and day.
    Glad I found you content, going to go check out your other vids on the A6000 series camera and see if I can narrow down some settings. Cheers man!

      @TomsJurjaks  Рік тому

      Hey Apic, that was a great read. Thanks for taking your time to put this out there, really enjoyed it. When it comes to the recommendations for Full Frame body, if you wanna stick with Sony and dont wanna give your arm and a leg for the camera, then I guess the A7R series you will pass. How about the A7C or A7III? Those are full frames and have decent low light performance although I have not tested it myself. I had the A7II but never really used in low light. Now I have the A7IV and do shoot in high ISOs mainly for the wildlife with the Sigma 100-400mm (during daytime) and there is noise above ISO 1250 but its totally usable and im not too picky. I guess I would say the same with the A7C lol

Astrophotography with the default 16-50 lens is great, and that is pretty nice for a 2014 camera with base lens I think. Also I'm a begginer photographer and using the manual mode is fantastic really. Can't really say any negatives about it. I don't mind it not having a touchscreen, because I'm used to old stuff, and It's a very nice camera overall still in 2023.

    It's taken hundreds of thousands of pictures and I use it daily as my dealership camera as well. Dropped, rained on... it just won't stop. Period. I love it and it has NEVER malfunctioned. You can program lots of the buttons and work around its oddball drawbacks quite easily.

    I think there are better camera body options on the market for apsc, mainly the Fuji XT-2 for $400 used and some other versions. I think Sony A6100 for $500 and a6400 are a better deal if you need the eye tracking and 4k video (1080 p on Sony is awful and I never use it).
