99 percent of people who saw the DAIGO parry in this video don’t even know why it is so hard. If you don’t know it takes 6/60 frames to parry an attack in street fighter 3rd strike. With that, chum li’s super happens so fast to the point where daigo had to parry at or before Justin Wong using the super. That with him having to parry 15 attacks in a row, he also had to land a punish that did about 50 percent damage.

as someone who's born in the 80's and studying game design, this quite interesting and fascinating how fast things evolved. Few decades ago noone would have believed this, in the 80s/90s playing video games was mostly reserved to male nerds living in their caves.
I believe it’s availability to everyone is the reason most game communities are toxic.
Back then, you needed the know how, the money and the service to play the games, so you had older mature players on average and the communities didn’t get toxic, they just died out of popularity.
Now a days even a toddler has a gaming device with access to online, other players, and it’s all “free” aside from needing Internet.
Which is making games rated for adults treat it’s players like babies or kids, crappy micro-transactions for gullible people, day one “passes” and basically selling an unfinished promise that dies in popularity in like one year. It’s sad

I got disproportionately happy when MLG and such was shown, because when I was a kid in ~2007-ish my two older brothers would go to the tournaments yearly and I have a lot of fond memories!
•Beat like 2 adults at a side melee tournament, won a game case signed by pc chris (and later someone else came up and gave me the drawstring bag he won!)
•one year they were sponsored by doritos which is funnier in hindsight but I went APESHIT as a kid at the giant table full of bags of every flavor of dorito
•watching my brothers play in tournaments! I already had lots of fun watching them play at home so it was extra fun
Also one of them beat ogre 2 in an online match once, and the other one won a design contest for logo design and designed the str8 rippin logo!
I actually have little to no interest in shooters now (bar splatoon), and while my brothers were clearly pretty good, their status was probably elevated by them being my brothers, those memories always make me really sappy and I so rarely get to brag about how cool they are that I jump at the chance whenever old school mlg tournaments are mentioned haha
