I'm not a super handy guy, but I can usually hold my own on most projects. when it comes to cars though, I am 90% of the time clueless. I was about to leave for work and my 06 Charger HEMI wouldn't come out of park. I almost ripped the shifter off, I was so pissed. Started googling and found your vid. I was able to get the car moving again and when I got to work I called a friend who works at a Dodge wholesale parts counter. She ordered me the replacement. I was about to call a friend who is a mechanic to come help me out but then I decided it was time to nut up or shut up and do it my damn self. Using your video I was able to get the job done without any issues. My wife came into the garage and asked how it was going. I told her I got the job done and saved us about $500 in labor as well. A surprised expression , and then one of being genuinely impressed. She said well I think you earned yourself a sexy little surprise later. I fixed the car and got some action! God bless you sir!
Now thats a lot of money saved! Glad it turned out well and that you knew enough to do your research and to not say yes to that repair. Thanks for the feedback. Make sure to subscribe.
I read somewhere there is a lifetime recall on this issue. I've been bypassing the shift interlock for a couple of years now lol. It kind of gives me a sense of security though knowing that mostly any person dumb enough to try and steal it won't be smart enough to get it out of park if I decide to leave it running. But I think its time I fix it. Thanks for the informative video, it was very professional and detailed.
I have used you tube to fix at least 200 items from our motor home our cars, trucks, boat, house, barn, chicken coops I mean every thing... I want to thank you David for making the best car repair video I have ever seen on youtube ....
That comment Brian means alot. I still am taken back when I hear people say that and I am very much greatful. I am just glad that people find the channel and that the videos help them.
Well I took the Dodge Magnum I got from my Nephew who told me he had the shifter fixed.... Well I took it aprt and yes it had a new part installed but it was on the wrong side ... I put it on the left side and she shifts with on finger... Thank You
Your welcome Brian.....that is the most common item I hear about when people due the repair....they dont pay attention to what side they position it in relation to the shifter handle. Great job on fixing the fix! lol.
Thanks RIchard. I try to do what I can to give as much info and detail as possible. Its cool to hear that its helping. Thanks again and make sure to subscribe and share the videos.
@@MotorCityMechanic Thanks for good video,, hawe same problem and revers indikater dont work, so is ther a Number on this name to order or is ther one in aluminium or upgrade version, thanks from sweden.
I want to thank you for emphasizing the correct location of the shift interlock (6:50). I was about to install it incorrectly but fortunately came across your video. It saved me probably hours of rework. Much appreciated.
I have made that mistake once or twice....its easy to do. Appreciate you finding and watching the video. Make sure to subscribe and get ready for the weekend!
I just want to thank you for having this video still around! Without your video, I would've install this incorrectly and would've given up. I was so close in giving up to the point that I was about to go to the dealership, however, your video save me in the nick of time. Very well detailed and thorough through the steps👍🏾
Awesome 2 part video. Found out at 7:00 p.m. wife's car was stuck in park. Called local parts store and found a metal replacement by Dorman. Used your videos and completed job that night.
Found this video yesterday, after watching several others. Others I watched didn't mention removing the console. This turned out to be to key in getting the shifter assembly out. Very informative!
Thanks for stopping by the channel and checking the video out. Glad to see that it included everything that you needed. Sometime I think I add to much and worry I did add enough lol
Just watched this video. I’ve got this problem with my 06 charger, after watching your video I’m confident I can make this repair. Thanks for making this in my opinion a very well made how to video. Thanks
Thank You for this quick tutorial. Thursday night, got off the train and ran into the same problem at the train station parking lot. luckily had tools in my trunk and tore out the center console on my 300, which allowed me to manually manipulate things to get the car in gear. Found the Dorman replacement at Pep Boys today for $28 dollars ($16 on amazon but I didn't want to wait). Took the shifter box apart, installed the metal Dorman replacement, put everything back and all's well again. (Thank You for the emphasis on the correct location of the shift interlock as well!!!) Love my 2005 300 limited, 238K miles on it and runs like a champ. But using plastic for tension/spring parts was just dumb of Chrysler. Thanks Again. Tutorial saved me about $200-250 in labor costs for a $16 dollar piece.
Great job. You didnt end up stranded and knew exactly what to do to get it moving and back home. Glad that I could help out and appreciate you taking the time to comment. Make sure to subscribe Tony!
FYI you're the bomb. I didn't order the part. I drilled a small hole and slipped a small nail through and made a loop. Back in business in about a hour. I could NOT have done it without your great video. Thank You. (50 something female)
Maggie Anderson That's Awesome Maggie! I did a video on the Sebrings that have the same issue and I used a cotter pin and that worked great as well. Appreciate you watching and for the great feedback. Make sure to subscribe and enjoy your weekend
I was thinking of using a small eye hook and thread it into the broken plastic piece!Do you think that may also work? This just happened to my 2007 chrysler 300!
David is an amazing teacher. I had my Dodge dealer replace the shifter then submitted the bill to the SRT customer service for a full refund. I asked to keep the old shifter and following this video repaired it with ease. I now have a spare just in case.
Glad that the issue was taken care of. Once you know the cause....its a cheap fix. Hopefully you never need to use the spare. Thanks for the kind words and make sure to subscribe
Thank you for these two videos!!! Saved me a tow and repair costs. I did get an aluminum part from Amazon for $20 - Like the idea of something stronger than plastic. SRT shifting like new. Thanks much!!!
Thank you so much for the videos, my wife got stranded late last night in her 2005 300. Part 1 of your video showed me to get the car home, Part 2 showed how to fix it. AutoZone had the Dorman metal replacement part in stock, and it was a very simple fix by following your instructions. Wife thinks I am the greatest, even though I told her I watched the videos for the info. Thanks again. I would recommend anyone with one of these cars to replace it BEFORE it breaks, you never know when or where that will happen. She just recently took the car on a small road trip and I am so thankful that this part broke here and not hours away. But I suppose most people are only going to find this video after it breaks...I had no idea that this was a recall or any sort of issue.
Haha.....glad to see that your the hero! Cool to see that it worked out great in the end and that you were able to find a replacement piece. You had an issue.....and you researched and found a solution, my hats off to you. Thanks for finding my video and for letting me know how things went. Now make sure to subscribe because I have plenty more videos avail related to that vehicle as well
Subscribed. I actually saw another of your videos before, racking my brain to think what it was. It looks like you do a lot of Mopar stuff so I assume it was for the 300, but I can't remember any other issues we've had with it besides the sway bar bushings going bad, and getting the front end clunk. I've replaced those 2 times now. So if you have a video of that, maybe that was it. Only other issue she's had that I can remember is the wiring for the license plate light slipping down by the muffler and it blowing the fuse for the tail lights. I'm a Ford guy but it's a very nice car, she wanted it for a long time and loves it like I love the F100, but they are a LOT different to work on! Can you suggest any other common issues for that 300 that can be addressed before they happen? Thank you again!
Lets start with what size engine first. Some need more maintenance then others. Yeah I have right at 333 videos now so I do cover alot of things but obviously not everything so far lol. But thats good because theres always subject matter that I can film.
This just happened on my 300 this mornin and I started panicking because I was just driving the car with no issues. Watched both videos and this was 100% spot on the issue. Couldn’t believe it was just a plastic pink piece holding the spring. took maybe two hours of work. But saved me a trip to the dealer/auto repair place. Recommend if you have good beer and tools just do it yourself.
Thank you, from Australia! Your video (parts 1 and 2) is the best video on this subject that can be found. Looking forward to confidently remobilizing my 300C once the replacement interlock part arrives.
I want to thank you Mr. MotorCity Mechanic!! So, this past Saturday night my wife and I landed in Orlando and were dropped off at our vehicle at an off site airport parking location. My vehicle is a 2006 Chrysler 300C with only 41k on it. I started it up pushed on the brake pedal to put it in gear and the shiftier wouldn't move!!! UHG!! My wife and I looked at each other and were like WTF!! what a way to end our vacation.... So thank God for UA-cam and TG for your video brother!!!! Got us home and now i'm waiting on the part from Amazon and will be installing it on my own after watching your very detailed video!! So, A BIG THANK YOU AGAIN SIR...Sorta wish they had UA-cam back when I was your age...imaging all the possibilities!! LOL
Thats awesome! Not that it broke on you but that you knew to do some research and eventually ended up at my channel. Glad that I could play a small part in saving the day
Update!! Ordered the metal part from Amazon, it came in Monday evening and I installed it that same night. It took approximately 1.5 to take it apart and get it back together. Not bad for a rookie..lol. TY MotorCity Mechanic 👍😁
Best tutorial on the web for repairing this issue! I followed your instructions to the T and I now have a car I can sell. Thank you great job explaining!
Your welcome and I have to say thanks for the awesome feedback. Glad to see that the vehicle is back on the road and able to be sold. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe!
Your welcome Max! I was born in Germany and lived there for about 3 years. Been almost 30 years since the last time I saw it. One day I want to go back. Thanks for watching and for using the video. Dont forget to subscribe!
David this just happened to me today. Your instructions are great but it's easy to see God gave us each different talents. I'm a paper pusher that can direct the construction of a hi rise building but the furthest i could get was your quick start and then thankfully take it to the dealer to let an expert like you take over from a useless tool like me. Thanks. ...
You have to have more confidence in yourself. Its all based on a fundamental mechanical knowledge. The procedure isnt hard if you follow the steps. Then again I cant direct the construction of a high rise so I feel the struggle. Thanks for watching and glad that the video was able to save you a tow. Now you have a better understanding of what is needed to fix the shifter and you wont be taken by a mechanic trying to sale you parts you dont need. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos that might help you in the future as well.
I absolutely enjoyed this video!! I panicked the other day, that I somehow broke transmission. Seeing this video saved the day and will work on it as soon I got the part! I bookmarked it for future reference! You're a life saver!
Cool....take your time and you should have any issues. Go over the video a few times and pay close attention to each step. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Thank you very much for this, its amazing that a 8 dollar part can disable a 40,000 dollar SRT-8 Charger, you just saved me a lot of money, got my baby home, again thank you very much sir!
Glad you took the time to research and then fix the problem. Thanks for finding my video in that repair. I rather have a cheap repair then something major lol. Appreciate the comment and make sure to subscribe
Best how to video for this process I've found. I knew this was something I'd have to contend with eventually after I got my 06 300, and tonight the ol lady reported it wouldn't come out of park, which means she had to drive my truck :shudder: so I'll be right on this tomorrow. Thanks for the detailed instructions without alot of carrying on like the others I've seen, I didn't have to jump forward once trying to skip you talking needlessly. Job well done Sir!
Thank you!!!! Just picked up a 2007 Dodge Charger in immaculate condition - yet the silly plastic tab broke! I appreciate you posting this fix. Took my time and still had it done in under an hour. Used a metal replacement with a new spring. Thank you for the step by step instructions. From one motor city dude to another - thank you my brotha’ !!!
This video was so much help. I watched 2 other ones before this and was hesitant to tackle this job but after watching your detailed video I was more confident in doing it. Thank You!
Thank you Dave! I was just cleaning the old SXT, to take it for a smog. It's been sitting for some time. That's when I find it will not shift out of park. That part has lasted over 307,000 miles. Now I know how to fix it, once they do the smog. Then I can work on the RT. 👍
Found this video today. Best one out there. Informative, well described step by step. Thank you so much. Cost me about $40 for a new metal one by Dorman. Works like a charm.
+Ray Kelley Thanks for the feedback. Over the years I have tried to work on the quality of the videos along with the information. Appreciate the comment and make sure to subscribe
Thanks for the video. Fixed mine today for a ‘06 Chrysler 300 Limited. I purchased a new aluminum Shift Interlock Latch (Part# 924-706), also know as the pink thingy, at Autozone. They had 1 in stock, cost me $34.99. Could’ve gotten cheaper online but I didn’t want to wait. Thanks for the heads up regarding correct interlock installation positioning, I would have installed incorrectly. Took about 1.5 hours. I’m in California so I know I saved $400+ doing myself.
Awesome! Yeah that interlock instal but me once so I knew it was best to give everyone the heads up just incase. Glad to see another simple fix and money being saved. Thanks for letting me know how it went. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos.
Man, that was a good instructional video! I have a 2007 sxt 3.5 Magnum with 59k miles. No P gear sticking issues so far. When it happens I'm gonna be ready, and hopefully that part will be available. Good teaching Jeff. Ever thought about teaching? Dean Seattle
Came across your videos for my 06 SRT8 charger. She only has 40k on her and now won’t come out of park. Will be tackling this repair soon as the part comes in! Thank you thank you for a very informative video! 🙏🙏
Here it is Mid July 2021 and your 2 part video once again saved the day...It would have taken me days to figure out how to pull and fix this spring issues. What an ignorant design for such a critical part of the vehicle...and I am an engineer...high tension spring attached to a thin plastic loop...I hope they fired the morons for that one...It cost me 13 bucks for new part all metal and a better spring and 2 hours of work...thanks so much, YOUR ROCK!!
Thanks for this helpful video! Saved me a tow to the shop, and undoubtedly a bunch of money. I used my old part though, just drilled it by the broken prong side and top to make a sturdy anchor, and looped the spring on it.
Thanks Kelly. What ever it takes. Glad to see it was a simple fix and that its back on the road again. Thanks for the comment and make sure to subscribe.
I followed the great instructions in your video and found the part to be broken. We replaced it being very careful of the position like you said. Everything looked great. It's still stuck in park. It doesn't seem to react to me pressing the break at all. I know that someone else here left a similar comment and it was recommended to re-watch and double check the positioning. Everything seems to be in order but I'm still stuck in park.
While I hope I don't need to look up another 300C video, because that means I have to fix something lol. I will defiantly look for a video from Dave. Awesome job at explaining which made it easy to follow. Can't thank you enough Dave! Highly recommend his videos as they are great in detail and easy to follow.
Thanks for the great video. Had to replace this on my 2006 300 SRT8 recently. Unfortunately, occasionally now when I try to turn the key off, the key gets stuck in the acc position. I have to shift into nuetral and then back into park before I can turn the key off. I assume I may need to adjust the cable to the shifter to fix this. Any idea which way I would need to adjust it to correct this issue?
Awesome videos! It took me about 30 min start to finish with the hardest part being the stupid power port plug. Parts $17.47 at Chrysler dealer. Thanks a bunch!
Awesome! Glad to see another cheap fix. Thanks for checking out the video and following the steps. Your feed back is appreciated. Feel free to check out my other videos and subscribe. Now go enjoy the weekend.
Thanks MC M, I just spent a few hours going between the car and the computer as I referenced each step you did while I fixed this problem. Goodonya mate, cheers from Australia.
Gary Jenkins That's awesome Gary. Next time to make it easier.....just send me a round trip ticket and I will fix it for you lol. It will save you time.....but not so much the money lol. Always wanted to see the land down under! Thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe!
Glad it helped out. I appreciate you letting me know how it went. Thanks for finding the channel and for watching the video. Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the weekend.
Thanks so lot for this video. Local shop asked for $150 to get it done. I bought the metal replacement for that pinky thing for 10 bucks, broke one of 3 plastic pins during separation the halfs of the shifter, but that is totally fine as 4 bolts it mounts on are also holding the upper and lower parts together.
I wish getting likes and subscribers was that easy lol. Thanks for the kind words and for using my video to fix your issue. I do appreciate it very much! Make sure to subscribe and enjoy the weekend
David, you should be a teacher in mechanics, this video and the way you narrate it is simply excellent, every step is concessive and easy to follow, thank you so much for this help now I feel totally confident in performing the task myself thanks to you, keep up the good work.
Many thanks. I spend alot of time trying to include as much as I can as well as getting the camera in those spots to show the needed items. Thanks for noticing and for commenting as well for subscribing.
David awesome, I did all the above I couldn't believe I did this, thank you!! So after putting all together my key will not completely turn to the off position to I can pull out key. Learned a little trick to shift to R then P again and sometimes key will go to off. what did I do wrong?? Thank you so much.
Sounds like the shift interlock cable needs to be adjusted....its that white cable that hooks to the pink piece in the video. Thats where I would put my money as far as the possible cause. Thanks for watching and for commenting. Job well done !
This video is great spot on thanks bud! Had to change out my switch today. I think it might have taken me about 45 mins to do. And I know you saved me a lot of money by doing it myself! Thanks again.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful in repairing a repair that should never have been needed had Chrysler actually used quality parts in their most popular auto. The real troubling thing is that when I contacted Chrusler about my car being stuck in park and immobile, they acted like they had never heard of such a situation and it was also almost a month wait before they could schedule a time for me to bring the car in. Your videeo helped me make the repair with a monetary cost of under $20 (for am aluminum...not plastic part) so....thanks......
Glad I could help. Some vehicles had a recall for that issue but I see alot that werent included in the recall however. Glad it came out as a cheap repair. Appreciate the comment and dont forget to subscribe
2 THUMBS DOWN when I couldn't shift into reverse out of my driveway. As well because Chrysler didn't advise me the original owner of 2006 C about this safety issue. I found out about CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION K39 TRANSMISSION SHIFTER INTERLOCK LEVER on the internet today. Spoke with 2 women @ Chrysler Group Recall Assistance Center who passed the buck back to C.G.R.A. Centre Canada where the women said you really know what you are talking about. Made my day! David your 2 part videos gets 2 THUMBS up & I'll let my #1 head mechanic Horace know how helpful this was. THANKS :)im n.b. the part is about $1.00 CDN no spring which I received free from a dealer.
+MrJBeanJ You mean to tell me that someone higher up in Chrysler is actually watching my videos? Wow lol. I assume you found the video and not referred by them? Sorry you had that issue. Its an easy fix yet a big inconvenience especially when its not expected or known about. I still see wrecker drivers breaking the shifter when forcing it out of park from time to time. Thanks for the taking the time to find my channel and for watching. Make sure to subscribe if you haven't already.
+MotorCity Mechanic The higher ups in Chrysler need to be watching for comments on their products! They should of also recalled ALL vehicles with this problems. The customer service advised me that it had to due with the production date. Total B.S. this is a safety issue. I watched a video that had the same shifter which had a different console that didn't need to be removed. Sorry for taking so long too reply. :)im
MrJBeanJ I feel your pain for sure. Some consoles don't need to be removed, just depends on the shifter assembly style. The other reason I show the console removal is that it makes it easier for the viewers to see exactly what I am speaking of as far the removal of the shifter. I have seen a lot that were not under the recall that needed it as well but its above my pay scale I suppose. You never know however.....they are constantly coming out with recalls on older models almost weekly for different issues. They don't play around with recalls any more.....practically every car that comes into the shop has a recall of some sort. Thanks for the reply back.
Another shifter back to working! Awesome. Thanks Michael for using the video to take on the repair. Glad that it helped. Now make sure to check out my other videos and dont forget to subscribe!
Man I appreciate how you took me step by step in the process and the video was clear and close up. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to put it all back together on. Y own, but it wasn’t a problem at all. 😅
Thanks for the video information. It helped me this past Sunday. I took it out Saturday night. Found the part Sunday morning went and picked it up. Started looking for videos on how to install the part and found your video which I liked how you explained things step by step. Got it back together the only thing that happened and don't know why is when I put in Park and I shut the car off my foot on the Brake the ignition doesn't go to the postion to remove the key like before ? If I let off the brake it then moves in position for key removal. Did I forget something?
I wanted to save some time and make the repair without removing the console. Probably could have, but it would have been more difficult. Decided to remove the console and the job went a LOT smoother. Thanks for the video
Excellent videos. I was able to perform the repair no problem. One question. A day or so after the repair the key got stuck in the ignition. After a few minutes of moving shifter into and out of gear a few times the key came out. Did I knock something out of alignment or adjustment? Has anyone reported this problem? I did not use the plastic part. I used the upgraded aluminum part from Dorman #924-706 and used the spring that came with it. Could it be the problem? Thanks again for the great videos.
Hi question... thanks for the detail step to step... I removed it...and noticed the piece wasn't broken...however I bought the aluminum piece...which I will still replace. I've noticed the shift level that holds the shift know is a little bent...not much...but how do I replace that... and what is the correct description for that part?
Great video!! Thank you for your help. Like everyone said, made the job a LOT easier. I was actually amazed at how easy I got it all back together. Bought the replacement kit from Cueter Dodge/Chrys in Ypsilanti. MI for $21.04. The replacement is white and does seems to be quite a bit beefier. One word of caution - the Dodge replacement "kit" comes with TWO different springs. An HORRIBLE "instructions" . The guy at the parts counter advised there was actually a service bulletin on this malfunction.
Huge thank you for keeping this video up! I was able to purchase the all metal part online and replace it on my 06 chrysler 300. Tip for anyone else trying this repair, if your spring has the green ring on it it is a good one, using a weaker one may cause problems
great video bro..my question is how can this be applied to 2006 charger police package with a column shifter..i see the cable under driver dash and have only tried to fix it from inside vehicle. am i going to have to go under car and adjust the cable from there as well..thank you
Many thanks to you sir for sharing this information. Your video has points that are so important that others left out. My shifter wouldn't just pop out like other videos after removing the four bolts. Loosening up the armrest was the only way. You're a blessing! (And showing the positioning of the new part was huge too!)
Thank you for this video!! You saved me a lot of money and the video was step by step! I will say on the 2005 Chrysler 300C, I didn't have a second electrical plug to disconnect on the gearshift box. Other than that, this was spot on!
Awesome. Glad the video helped. Nothing like being able to fix your own vehicle when needed. Thanks for finding and for watching the video. Dont forget to subscribe and share the videos with others.
Thank you for this video saved me money and time. This fixed the shifter not moving out of park issue but now my car won't go into drive gear. Any idea why this might be ? It goes into reverse fine and neutral and park but when I put into drive it just stays in neutral... Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated thank you!!!
Great video. Not mechanically inclined here but sure helped get the car moving again and may or may not attempt the replacement of the part. Nice to know it is a less than twenty dollar part anyway.
If you take your time you will find its not that hard to fix. Just follow the video steps and re-watch again if need be. Thanks for checking it out and dont forget to subscribe!
Dave, did everything as you demonstrated. Worked great! The only thing is that I now can't manually shift down into lower gears (by bumping the shifter). Any idea what I might have done or missed? Thanks
I have purchased 4 replacement pieces and everyone of them will not allow to put on side like you said what can I do to get correct part. 2006 300 I am stumped
Bobo This is great. I wish I had the time to watch this before I broke my shiftier pieces inside beside the pink thing. I am gluing it right now but I know it won't hold, so I had order a used one on e-bay but is going to take a week to get here. So I am trying to remember how the lever and the shift rod come into play.. You would think I could find a exploded view of the inter works of the shiftier but I can't seem to find anything. Your video show lot, so I will trial and error it to see if I can get everything back into place so the shiftier will work properly.
Sorry it broke. It happens from time to time. Hope the video helps out with the issues your having as far as getting to see what is going on inside. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe
Awesome, glad the video helped! Thanks for taking the time to comment about it and letting me know how it turned out. Dont forget to subscribe because I have plenty more videos like it
+Adem1981 just search for Chrysler 300 shift interlock while on eBay and you will get a lot of items to choose from. You might want to check your local auto parts store as well.....Dorman makes a metal version and most parts stores carry Dorman
ANOTHER GREAT VID! MY 2010 CHARGER IS A OLD POLICE CAR WITH COLUM SHIFT. IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, DO YOU HAVE A VID TO HELP WITH THAT OR CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO?
Exactly.....you will be her hero.....for while and then have to do it all over again with something else lol. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
Thank you very much!!!!! This video saved me a hefty repair bill. I replaced the part myself with an aluminum one. Shouldn't have this problem anymore.
I like to use a cotter pin.....works great, has a loop on the end and I just bend back the two legs and done. Thanks for watching and make sure subscribe Tom
I have changed that pink part to a metal part and it still will not come out of park,so I went ahead and changed the whole shifter and it still won’t come out of park!!! Any solutions???
Was the original piece broke? I assume maybe not. There is only so much I can tell you on my end without being there to check it out. Main thing I would do is check to make sure the brake lights work when you depress the brake pedal. if it doesnt then you issue will be related to the brake switch possibly. Otherwise checking the shifter interlock cable adjustment is another. Otherwise you may need to get a mechanic to check it further.
Great video- yours are practically the standard by which all others compare. One question- where on ebay or the web can you buy the plastic interlock latch for $8? I see the pot metal Dorman one for $16 but I prefer the plastic reinforced one, I figure plastic one is going to cause less wear issues than a pot metal or aluminum one. Only plastic one I see is the factory OEM for 45-65$. Am I missing something? Some posters refer to 21$ kits from their dealer. I Contact a dealer and it $65. Am I missing something.
I'm not a super handy guy, but I can usually hold my own on most projects. when it comes to cars though, I am 90% of the time clueless. A surprised expression , and then one of being genuinely impressed. She said well I think you earned yourself a sexy little surprise later. I fixed the car and got some action! God bless you sir!
Perhaps consider picking up a family 'hobby car with ongoing repairs 🤔
SeXy surprises on Steroids 🤪
Thanks for the help! Just did this on my car and it went really smooth. Dealer quoted me $550, fixed it myself for $8
Now thats a lot of money saved!
Great job on fixing the fix! lol.
I watched 7 different videos about this problem and yours is by far the best of them all. Thanks for being so thorough .
Awesome! Glad to see that the video still keeps helping people. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Make sure to subscribe.
Awesome 2 part video. Found out at 7:00 p.m. wife's car was stuck in park. Called local parts store and found a metal replacement by Dorman. Used your videos and completed job that night.
Awesome! Hate that it happened but glad that you found this video and used it to fix the issue. Make sure to subscribe.
Another cheap fix! Appreciate the feedback on how it helped. Glad that I could share the knowledge. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe!
But thats good because theres always subject matter that I can film.
she has the 3.6 V6
being that its a 2005 300....it would come with the 2.7, 3.5, or the 5.7 hemi. I assume the 3.5?
@@chucksamek40 Great job! Thanks for the update and my hats off to you on a job well done.
Thank you Dave!!!! Best video on the net! Awesome job of explaining every detail and I do appreciate it so much.
Thats great feedback! Thanks alot Kathryn! It means alot. Dont forget to subscribe!
This is a very good instructional guide, without this video I would not have been able to have done this repair at home.
Glad it helped out. Appreciate your time for watching and for commenting. Make sure to subscribe
Thanks a lot. I have to change this thing next week on my 300C 3.0 CRD. Without your video I would be lost.
Greetings from Germany.
Your welcome Max! I was born in Germany and lived there for about 3 years. Been almost 30 years since the last time I saw it. One day I want to go back. Thanks for watching and for using the video. Dont forget to subscribe!
my car was stuck on park at work and I had to do a quick fix, then the next day I fixed it just by watching this video only, thanks a lot!
That’s a lot of miles for sure…..someone has been taking food care of the vehicle
Found this video today. Best one out there. Informative, well described step by step. Thank you so much. Cost me about $40 for a new metal one by Dorman. Works like a charm.

Awesome work, Sir! Dealership wanted over 400 dollars for what you showed me was one hour of work and a $10 plastic part. 5 stars.
Glad that you knew better then to let them. Thanks for finding and for watching my video. Don’t forget get to subscribe Clayton
Bro! You saved me 500.00 the dealer quoted me for having this service done.. thank you so much!!!

Do u know what that pick think called
@@joyce7415 I looked up the part # he showed on screen and ordered it off Amazon for like $17. It’s all metal instead of plastic!
It was a fuse. Your instructions were perfect.
@@Salderoff Glad you found the issue. Thanks for the comment and update. Make sure to subscribe and Merry Christmas
While I hope I don't need to look up another 300C video, because that means I have to fix something lol. I will defiantly look for a video from Dave. Awesome job at explaining which made it easy to follow. Can't thank you enough Dave! Highly recommend his videos as they are great in detail and easy to follow.
Many thanks Mike! Glad that I can always help. I appreciate the feedback and kind words. Make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
thanks! huge help. i was gonna call the tow truck and have the dealer fix but i am feeling confident i can get it done after watching your video
Hey Ik this is old but I been have the same problem for a year was you able to figure it out if Yhu did can Yhu pls help me
Your video saved me from expensive repairs. Thanks for the help!
Glad to help in any way that I can

Thanks so lot for this video. Local shop asked for $150 to get it done. I bought the metal replacement for that pinky thing for 10 bucks, broke one of 3 plastic pins during separation the halfs of the shifter, but that is totally fine as 4 bolts it mounts on are also holding the upper and lower parts together.
Do u know what it calkex
Great video. Thanks for posting. I was able to fix this issue in just a few hours. Replacement parts cost me $32 dollars. Saved me a ton of money!

Hello with this issue will this cause the car not to start
Thank you very much. I followed your steps and was able to fix my 2006 300. You're the man, brother.
THANKS :)im
n.b. the part is about $1.00 CDN no spring which I received free from a dealer.
Just fixed mine. You had the best instructions out of anyone. Thanks
Excellent Video David. You covered all the steps very well. Thanks so much for the help, it saved me a ton of time getting it replaced.
A really good explanation/demonstration of a fairly complex task.
Well done!
Many thanks for the great feedback.
Great video. Helped me tremendously! I had the little tab on the wrong side of the shifter and it wouldn’t work right. Thanks!
yeap! this guy is legit - this is my first time, and they way that he explained it is well done. great job buddy
Appreciate the kind words. Make sure to subscribe and check out my other videos
Hi question... thanks for the detail step to step... I removed it...and noticed the piece wasn't broken...however I bought the aluminum piece...which I will still replace. I've noticed the shift level that holds the shift know is a little bent...not much...but how do I replace that... and what is the correct description for that part?
Thank you David ! You made this repair "almost" enjoyable ! lol . I appreciate your help . How could anybody give this video a thumbs down ?
Great video!! Thank you for your help. Like everyone said, made the job a LOT easier. I was actually amazed at how easy I got it all back together.
Bought the replacement kit from Cueter Dodge/Chrys in Ypsilanti. MI for $21.04. The replacement is white and does seems to be quite a bit beefier. One word of caution - the Dodge replacement "kit" comes with TWO different springs. An HORRIBLE "instructions" .
The guy at the parts counter advised there was actually a service bulletin on this malfunction.
Glad it all went well. Thanks for letting me know about your experience and for the added tips. Subscribe and check out my other videos.
Hey man, thanks for the tech and thanks for not talking about anything else but how to fix this issue.
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the feedback. Make sure to subscribe
Great Video! I did all the steps, but it didn't work. My issue has to be something deeper. Do you have any suggestions?

What would keep the shift lever from going all the way to the left and keep me from getting the key out of the ignition

What happens if you remove the broken pink part and put it all back together without putting the replacement part in?
Most likely the ignition key will no come out the ignition.
Thank you for making this video, you saved my butt! It took me quite a bit longer than it took you but my 2007 Charger is back to normal.
IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM, DO YOU HAVE A VID TO HELP WITH THAT OR CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO?
great video Dave. very detailed . she'll be a happy camper when I fix it and she doesn't have to walk. lol
Exactly.....you will be her hero.....for while and then have to do it all over again with something else lol. Thanks for watching and make sure to subscribe if you havent already.
What is the green piece that you called the brain? I need to see how that supposed to work because I think it’s broken too.
Thank you very much!!!!! This video saved me a hefty repair bill. I replaced the part myself with an aluminum one. Shouldn't have this problem anymore.
One less thing to worry about for sure. Glad I could help and thanks for watching. Make sure to subscribe
I did as well thanks for the video.
I just filled a small hole where plastic tab was. Then used a stiff wire to make a new connection point for spring. Works great
I like to use a cotter pin.....works great, has a loop on the end and I just bend back the two legs and done.
I've always used the upgraded metal ones. Guarantee it'll never break again!
The best video on the network awesome everything detailed and organized your video is the best!
