Come on France...No matter how much you've upgraded the Exocet missile it's still a 50 yo design platform and no amount of make up is gonna make it viable and survivable even today, let alone in the 2030s time frame. It's time to invest into clean new design and develop something that will match and overmatch newer AsMs from China and Russia. I have no doubt the the electronics are on par with competition but the size, range and speed of the Exocet anti ship missile is well bellow what somebody would call a modern and advanced AsM. Boeing tried to do something similar and upgrade the Harpoon giving it a 150 miles range plus some new electronics and entered that missile into US Navy's next gen offensive surface platform competition. Of course the Navy rejected the Harpoon and choose the really advanced and game changing LRASM. Also Kongsberg NSM is a great AsM. Although it also has shorter range and smaller warhead than LRASM, Brahmos or the Chinese variants, it's targeting capabilities are highly advanced and classified. NSM will be introduced to LCS vie on board canisters, 8 of them to be exact, while the next gen US Navy's frigate, the Constellation class, will also use NSM, at least for the year or two, but those will be fired from the Mark 41 tubes that are integrated throughout the US surface combatants. At least until the Lockheed completely develops the surface launched LRASM. Also NSM's more advanced derivative - JSM or the Joint strike missile, will be able to fit inside the F-35's internal bays giving it an unparalleled and long range strike capability on sea and on land.
Exocet is simply an old missile...
improved capabilities of the new exocet = more range, faster, more destructive. If the missile is fast enough, the old plateform does the job. Look at the M1 Browning...
