Shortcut Chicken and Dumplings Using Canned Biscuits

- This is one of my favorite recipes. It's perfect for 2 people.
4 tbsp butter
1 chopped carrot
1 chopped celery stalk
1/4 chopped onion
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
4 cups chicken broth (thick soup)
1/2 to 3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp Italian seasonings
2 cups chicken
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/2 tsp turmeric optional
I used 3 Grand biscuits

Looks like a good and easy recipe. I’m making this tomorrow but will use half stock and half better than bouillon. Should be great. Serving it with cornbread like Cracker Barrel.

@kylerutherford-b3i It is so interesting the variations that people add to recipes. I have a friend who makes pozole soup with pinto beans. That is very untraditional. She says it's delicious. Thanks for watching!
I bet the canned biscuits are really good in it. Every dumpling I've had was kind of just gooey flour. 😅 I make spaetzle instead, but that's a lot of work! This looks much easier and tastier. 😃❤
Hi Patricia, it's kind of funny, I can make a recipe in different ways and there will always be somebody who doesn't agree with my method. lol I post my recipes in various pages. I was told by some folks that "canned biscuits are just not the same"...blah blah lol I LOVED this recipe. It is perfect for 2 people. I had to control myself, because I wanted more, more, more...lol
I was wondering if using 2% milk instead of cream would be as good?
@@jodythomas9203 You can use 2%. It just won't be as thick and rich as in this recipe. The flavor will still be there. Good luck!
You can use 2% milk, it will just be a little thinner. It will still taste great!
when I use canned biscuits its like eating raw dough, are they supposed to be slimy or should the middle be like a biscuit?
Hi Friend. They shouldn't taste like raw dough. I cut them small and cooked them for about 15 to 20 minutes until they were all the way cooked. Maybe the concept of wet dough kinda bothers you? I like dumplings. It's an acquired taste. This is one of my personal favorite recipes.
@@RosieCooks I just thought the dumplings would end up being more biscuit like inside. Other than that I LOVE chicken soup.

@@RosieCooks Well, I dont think that were raw, because they sure cooked for at least 15-20 minutes. I guess I just expected them to be more like a biscuit texture. I had some dumplings many many years ago, and I wished to this day I would have asked her how she made them, but they were so good, and the texture inside was just like a biscuit.
@@Shelzbells I think that there are different types of dumplings. I know that some people make dumplings using tortilla strips. It comes out good. Usually, dumplings are just a biscuit recipe rolled flat and cut into strips. Now I'm hungry. lol
Should be able to skip the flour if you are going to use heavy cream

😂😂😂 you didn’t say what kind of viscous what kind of biscuits a biscuit don’t work out like that. What kind did you use?
