Could you do a video on the most common types of fabrics used in upholstery and the pros & cons of each? Something else I would find helpful is maybe something that includes where certain materials are best used (like indoors, outdoors, homes with/without pet hair, fabrics that feel warm/cool). Hope this makes sense! Thanks!
For a boat. What longest lasting, stain resistant, uv rating, easy to clean fabric would you use for outdoor boat chairs? I'm looking for the best of the best so that I don't worry for years...preferred color is light beige. Th
That is a great question. In boats typically you would use a marine grade vinyl. Keyston brothers has a great one called Olympus that has great specs. You really want to pay attention to the UV rating when it comes to boat upholstery because the sun will destroy anything over time. You always want to keep it covered when not in use with a good marine rated sunbrella canvas and then keep in mind: UV rating, colorfastness, double rubs, and tear strength of the vinyl you select. Hopefully that helps!
Vinyl is the best waterproof option. There are textured marine vinyls that are waterproof and may be able to hide minor cat damage. Cat claws will generally damage any kind of fabric or upholstery material. A woven fabric will be able to hide minor cat damage better than most, but a cat can still destroy it. There are also some performance woven fabrics that are stain resistant and water may bead up and roll off but it will still absorb some. The fabric brand AVANT GARDE has a line of Splash fabrics with Alta coating that may be the best option for you!

@@createwithcraftsman Great feedback. Thanks for taking the time.
What are the best fabrics that are waterproof, and durable enough to somewhat withstand cat claws?

I would like yo know ifyou have leather imitation. What is it's name?
We have several options for faux leather. Vinyl is another name for it as well. Those are readily available and Naugahyde is one of the best.
