Wonderful reaction. Elvis was a champion of civil rights and loved all people he had so much passion. He sold more gospel recording than any singer of all time. You need to hear his recording when he was younger called "Crying in the Chapel". Also the one where his daughter and only child Lisa voices over " Stand by Me". He also sang "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" in Vegas in 1970. Thank you, Be Blessed
Watching from England. It was a great reaction video. Your faces were so expressive and really engrossed in watching and listening to Elvis’s iconic performance 55 years ago. Elvis loved gospel music very much so do listen to How Great thou art and you’ll never walk alone. For another statement song, listen to In the Ghetto as well. Elvis always sang with his heart and soul. Have fun finding out about him. 🙏👌💕🕺
Elvis never wrote his music.. but he felt the music he performed.. so much passion and truth to the songs he decided to sing. he picked what meant something to him and sang it like no one else. And this song was about MLK
… There are many good singers... but ELVIS is the „💎“ Diamond among them!! His charisma is still unsurpassed to this day!! … He is a Singer for eternity !! 🕺🏻🕯 Thank you
Yes AMAZING SONG. Should be played today Everything he sung about is happening today and this was in 1968. It was in honor of Martin Luther King, Bobby Kennedy and I think a couple more
Elvis Presley still is one of the most talented, humble and giving artists of all times. I subbed, because of your respectful reaction, i really enjoyed it!💚☀️
Very good reaction indeed thank you guys. 👏 If you had to concentrate on any artist music from the past, Then certainly Elvis would be the one to stick with. You will not be disappointed. I'd say he was the best for giving things to every kind of person. Houses, cars, jewellery, money, visits. paying bills. everything really. He also really helped the black community. All this is on UA-cam here.
Attend the A.I. hologram Elvis Presley concert tour where they play this song! It started in England and will be in America soon. It'll be like seeing him live.
Wonderful reaction from all of you. A beautiful, meaningful song delivered with such passion and sincerity by this beautiful man. Thank you for this one. ❤❤❤
Elvis brought me to your channel. Big fan! He is the GOAT in music! He is still loved worldwide and will never be forgotten. Very nice reaction. More Elvis please! ⚡👍(🇿🇦🌍)

@@Robin.2226 Shake Rag was a unique African-American neighborhood in an underserved but culturally thriving section of Tupelo, the birthplace of Elvis. Tupelo and Shake Rag were where the seeds of Elvis’ personal sound took root.
@@seandunne696 Elvis was born and raised in East Tupelo a white neighbourhood. Though when he was eleven and ahalf, he did live in Mulberry Ally a white neighbourhood, for about eleven ahalf months, which was very close to Shake Rag!.
Elvis came from tupelo Mississippi. And at the time we all lived out there that's when there was extreme racial discrimination. My family was part white and part Shoshone Indian who were also discriminated against during that time. There was a ghetto part of Mississippi that was just as bad as any ghetto in Chicago or New York or anything like that. Those of us that lived in or around that part. Had to find WHATEVER kind of even demeaning work we could find. Whether you were white , black or half-breed we didn't care we stuck together. Elvis's dad was able to be a sharecropper for a while but when he lost his job Elvis's mother Gladys wash clothes and stuff for people. My family we picked cotton or whatever other kind of job we could find. We ( ALL all of us ) would also set traps or try to hunt for food or either we would go out into the woods and pick wild nuts and fruits and berries. Some of it was to sell but the majority of it we had to keep for ourselves to eat. Also all of us believed in God and we would go to church together. WE BELIEVED that there shouldn't be any such thing as a divided race if you know what I mean. Most of us sooner or later got a chance to move away from there but s***it was a huge shock to realize there was people that was prejudiced against the color of somebody's skin or back then that even if you were white you were looked down on because you had black friends that you cared about. I mean you know your skin color doesn't matter if you get cut you still all bleed red. I mean there's no black blood there's no white blood there's no blue blood or whatever.so it is absolutely stupid to be prejudiced just because of somebody's skin color. AND as for religion every religion has a belief in a Creator in a supreme being. I don't know if it makes sense but to me God is just God. But anyhow this is how Elvis was raised in his early years. So he grew up as we did that you didn't look at somebody's skin color to be their friend. We learn to love one another you know. Maybe someday the stupid world will grow up and look at life the way we did in our little community we had back then. All through his years once he got famous Elvis was known for all kinds of things. What I mean by this is if he saw somebody that needed food he would buy them food give her or give him money. You wouldn't believe how many cars he bought for a total strangers because he saw that they needed a vehicle to get around with weather for them getting to work or to get their kids to a doctor or something. He was great friends with Martin Luther King and really and truly admire the man. When he heard that Martin Luther King had been assassinated it was 5 or 6 mi from his house in Memphis Elvis broke down and just cried. if you really want to hear the heart and soul of Elvis he did put out a gospel album , oh Lord he put his heart and soul into that you can hear it when he sings if you really want to hear him listen to that gospel album he did. From me and mine and the Elvis that I knew God Bless ya'll and sending you and yours much love and I hope you all have a safe , healthy , and happy life. Love y'all's review on my sweet friend Elvis. ❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰🥰
Great reactions, guys. Love it. So true. I am a fan for 45 years and this man is the GOAT. Elvis did so many great songs. Start your Elvis journey. Please react to Elvis rendition of BRIGE OVER TROUBLED WATER, live 1970 and Elvis WHAT NOW MY LOVE, live 1973.
Woodswomen stated it correctly; It was written in honor of MLK. Elvis may have added Kennedy, and/or others to the Tribute at different performance’s 🤷🏻♀️ Not sure. But the song was written for Elvis in tribute to MLK (assassinated 4/4/68) - prior to Kennedy being assassinated June 68. - So I’m not sure why people will sometimes say - the song was “written” for Kennedy & MLK. Since the song was written between April/May 1968 while Kennedy was still alive.
Well, I think I know why. Well, my theory anyway; Is that during that time, with such extreme racial tension, and a very controversial song (clearly made for MLK) “they” told Elvis he could NOT preform this song. I think “they” were trying to appease and reduce tempers by saying, “The song was also in tribute to a white man as well.” 🤷🏻♀️ Not far fetched at all. I could hear “them” brain storming on what to say to the public (with all the racial tension) - “Tell them it was in tribute to Kennedy.”
As per producer-director Steve Binder's lengthy conversation w-Elvis when Binder & Elvis watched the TV news when Kennedy was assassinated & there were very last minute changes, almost practically moments before which culminated into a song for general world peace & harmony.
His white suit represents peace and the red tie, for the blood spilled in Vietnam and the race riots...this is his tribute to the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
@@FunkyVibes-e4t It was an honor, but the sad thing is that it is so relevant today..Elvis and Mr King looking down, knowing that Some headway has been made, but not nearly enough. Hopes and Dreams for a better future seem futile in times like these, but don't give up on those hopes and dreams, ever...they're what keep us going🥰!
Sad that Elvis died before this song wouldn’t be an issue to sing. The exact reason MLK was assassinated in the first place is same reason they didn’t want Elvis performing this song.
Another fact about the story:(elvis was in a horrible contract with his manager) Elvis was supposed to go out in a Christmas sweater and sing a Christmas song after previously humiliating himself earlier in the night with hound dog performance with a real life dog , again not his idea and it went horrible. He heard about the death of MLK earlier weeks and wrote with song and decided to perform at in spite of his manager, and to help protest and promote the Dream of MLK, he wanted to do something meaningful and make a big statement with something he felt passionate about! Great video!!
Some of your info is WRONG. Elvis only sang with a dog once (on a comedy show) and that was at the beginning of his career - twelve years before he did this show. Elvis’ manager Tom Parker was highly respected by everyone in the music business at the time. Any other big star would have loved to have him as their manager. You are right about this: The Colonel did want Elvis to sing his Christmas songs in the show, and didn’t want to add this song. He wanted a previous ‘hit’ for the closing number, not a new song. The stories about Col. Parker being a bad manager are revisionist garbage - by people who weren’t actually there at that time. The recent movie is full of inaccuracies.
Sad that Elvis died before this song wouldn’t be an issue to sing. The exact reason MLK was assassinated is same reason they didn’t want Elvis performing this song - racism.
I don't care what anyone says, this was Elvis' finest performance on many levels.
when i was a boy i wanted to be elvis.
Sung like no other song Elvis ever sang.
There'll never be another like him ... God rest his sweet soul ! TCB forever !
