Heartbreaking!! I feel like in most African states, especially Nigeria, we have to scratch everything and start from stable ground - from birth registration to id registration, census etc...it's staggering that in 2021 we can't manage basic social services - curiously everyone is REGISTERED TO VOTE! Go figure!
What I find shocking is that it appears as though a man can get 10 children and walk away from his wife and small children, and be free of obligations like child support. I don't know what the law stipulates, but from viewing broadcast from TB Josha's, Emmanuel TV, I saw this issue occuring over and over again, and it seemed to me that Nigera has not addressed this issue at a legal level. It gave me a dim view of the whole country. Am I wrong in concluding that no provision has been made for the support of children by absentee fathers?
@@Matira269 not just in Nigeria, but across Africa.I mean, when 75%+ of the population is 'self-employed', the government will spend more money tracking them down than recouping anything at all... Thankfully, "absentee fathers" are not a prevalent thing across Africa as compared to say, Black America.Two-person households are by-and-large still intact...and moreso, there's a solid extended-family support system across many Black African families. So, it's not unusual for one to look after his/her brother's children (so-called black tax)... The Nigerian, indeed African problem is an economy largely dependent on primary resource exports and minimum value addition (where the jobs and tax revenues are generated!)
I’ve always heard and known about this terrifying atrocious situation. Every time I think about it, I’m terrified and groan in sheer despair. When you are old, you become utterly helpless and desperately vulnerable. Access to pension benefits should be one of the only major shields against such danger. Why are we doing this to the people who cared for us when we couldn't do anything for ourselves, why are we so selfish? God plz help us.
Over 25 years ago, I met an old colleague that we served in the army asked if I started receiving my pension and I said no. He said there is a man who can do it if I pay 100,000 naira and I will be receiving 40,000 naira monthly. I said they can go to Hell. Africans problems are African civil servants and politicians.

Go figure!
And indeed, the vote means nothing. It’s manipulated at every level.
