  • In this video I give you a 6 month update on my DIY Concrete Countertops project from my first video on the channel. In that video (see link below), I showed you how to skim concrete over an existing laminate countertop and today we look to see how it held up as far durability. I also show you how I apply a new coat of sealant to help keep my concrete bathroom countertops preserved.

Thank you Soooooooooo much for doing updates... I watched you do the first of the concrete countertop.. Great host, very informative, and the follow up, HECK YEAH!!.. Im doing a concrete countertop over a plywood base.. A little bondo.. I love the look of epoxy pours ANNNND I adore the look of concrete, in the raw.. So ive decided to mix the 2, into an artistic piece.. And if I dont like it, same as you..i will do something else..lol.. SO ANYWAY, haha.. Im hoping the epoxy layer eliminates the need for the sealent.. Especially since it will be encased in about 1/8 to1/4" of epoxy.. Im doing some vids.. Gonna try to post them one day...lol.. Anyway thanks or the info, and the folks that dont like it would probably like it if they were single mom raising kids living in a 1940s house that needed some classy update on a budget..lol..
Anyway, thank you, Looks great, and i would use that sink..😂
Ohhhh, and I subscribed and will remember where to go if I order from amazon..

I really want to do this in my bathroom with white feather finish. We have 2 undermount sinks and they are tiny and I hate them. Water everywhere! I keep a microfiber cloth on the counter because all I do is wipe up water. I bought two huge vessel sinks that I’m going to put over the sink openings and I think that will help with water spillage. It is hard to keep up with that. I think I might first do the two part white epoxy on the counter to see if my husband likes that. Eventually I want new countertops, but I just can’t decide on a design. My husband is all for the concrete look at least. I just want it white. Thanks for the thorough update!

Now you should lay a sheet of glass on top of the concrete.

Want to do my kitchen counter this way! How did you keep the cement from dripping off the edges? Or even making the edges? They look so good.

Thank you! So that is one area where I did sand more...right along the bottom, not so much on the sides, but right at the bottom edge...you almost have to let that dry and then sand, otherwise you rub the wet concrete off. Now along the edge (as well as the top), I just put thin coats on so it didn't really drip at all. If you end up trying it, feel free to let me know how it goes!

Personally I think it looks horrible. It might have looked better if you stamped it.
