Great review. My issue is the investment in the upgrade. Have you noticed any noticeable difference in typical shot quality between the RS2 and RS3? I'm trying to understand what DJI means by saying "Improved stabilization algorithms" and how that translates to actual improvements in captured footage.
Yea like I mention in the video probably not worth upgrading if you already have the rs2. Especially rs2 have a bigger payload. I don’t think you will notice a big difference in stability. However I did experiences issues where gimbal will collapse due to extreme movement the new gimbal was able to recover to center position and continue shooting whereas the old one could not and you had to reset. Hope that helps

Do you think this RS3 (non pro) can handle a Sony A7siii with Tamron 35-150? Technically it should be able to because the weight of the setup is less that the max payload of the gimbal (6lbs i believe)....but idk if the setup would be so big that it would hit certain parts of the gimbal
I was thinking about this too. (I have an A7c + Tamron 35-150 setup) The overall weight shouldn't be a problem, but getting it balanced is pretty tricky. A friend of mine could barely balance his A7iii + Tamron 35-150 on an DJI Ronin S. Dunno how the RS2 or RS3 can handle it.

I just bought the RSC2 last month. I'm considering upgrading to the RS3 but what's more important to me than anything else is portability. Being able to remove the battery/grip on the RS3 helps with that but it seems that the arms are larger on the RS3?
yea it is longer actually. slightly and also thicker. so the top portion will be bigger than your RSC2. but I guess battery grip being removed helps a little when in storage.

The new features seem like great "nice to haves" but I'm really only interested in how well it can pack into a backpack/sling/etc. Without a major improvement there or in other features, there's no point to bother with changing (for my purposes anyways)

I tested RS2 and it used to wander left or right while moving forward. I had to use lock mode to move straight ahead, Same problem was there in Ronin S. Is it still there. No one on youtube talks about it.
My RSC 2 is showing its age only one year on. The locks do not lock tightly even if you try your hardest to tighten them. And it always thinks in briefcase mode even when it isn't.
Question: What are the features that are on the gimbal without the raven-eye? Can you still do timelapse control, and controlled pans without it? In other words: Does the raven-eye ONLY give you access to active track and focus changing?
I have an rsc2. Don't have the active track but I managed to connect my phone with my camera body via Bluetooth using an app... it works brilliantly. Just something worth noting from a monitor point of view. However, I always wished I got the active track just to keep focus on a subject as I move. I do a lot of car shots and this is something that bugs me.

It’s not too bad and it’s lockable. But I don’t shoot TikTok so I don’t use it. But from my test it’s ok but not as smooth as portrait. I highly recommend a L bracket if you tend to shoot long term portrait

Hey guys, id like to ask for help. Im considering to buy between a secondhand RSC2 Pro combo (with focus motor and raveneye) and brand new rs3 combo. The former doesnt have warranty anymore but costs about 370 USD while the latter is for sale at SRP here at about 600 USD and has warranty. It is to be noted however that I'm in a location that has no official service center.

I'm looking to get my first gymbal and was looking forward to hearing the review for the RS3. I'm kinda disappointed the RS3 combo doesn't come with the transmitter like the RSC 2 combo. Also the bluetooth feature doesn't seem to be compatible with a lot of cameras according to their website so that feature would not apply to my camera. So for more features It'll come down to the removable battery, autolocking, and touchscreen features it seems like with the RS3. Guess I have some thinking to do lol

The big problem with any of these gimbals for me is weight. My arms can handle them but my shoulders cannot for more than a few minutes. I have the RSC2 and it's one of the lighter gimbals.
I've used my Sony FX3 on my RSC2 at 15 weddings practically all day long. Sure, by the end of the day my shoulders and back are a bit soar but that's after hours of holding it. I'm 150lbs and not what you'd consider muscular at all. What kind of camera do you have mounted on it?
@@ShawnCHeron A Z7 with the 14-30 f4. But I'm older and my shoulders have seen a lot of damage over the years. If I add the Raveneye and mount my phone the setup gets ridiculously heavy for me. But I love the technology and capabilities.

because dji made an upgrade rs3pro that's meant for the the pro or rs2 users. it has a bigger payload like the rs2. to be honest if you can get the price of the rs2 low enough I would go that route. heavier payload and better resale since you are buying it second hand, less depreciation down the road.

Still thinking about returning it and buy the RS3 combo which is maybe a downgrade but has the automatic locks ... So frustrating!

Not possible, bluetoorh dont have enough bandwith. But, if you get the new focus+tracking module, you only need one usbc cable to connect it with your gimbal to have active track, and no need for raven eye.
@@AM-wi6gw The new module can be mount on your camera hotshoe, its basically the existing 3D focus module with another camera. So, you will get both lidar autofocus and active track 4.0. The built in camera has less latency compare to hdmi signal from camera, so tracking performance and reliability is improved. The downside is price, it cost around 500$.

Removing the battery is great, but how often is one ever going to need to do that on a fully charged battery in one days worth of shooting?

You can still do it in the app but yes you lose the monitor side of things.

There is a super smooth mode , if you shoot portrait with little angle movement then it should be ok. Clearance will be an issue at that size.

rs3 is a good choice but if you want bang for buck rs2 is good too cos it can withstand more payload with some less features.

Definitely shoot it on. Post correction takes time and also using Sony own program with gyro data is time consuming

I want active track without the need of wires! To connect through Bluetooth. Wires are a thing of the past. Common dji!!!
Not possible, bluetoorh dont have enough bandwith. But, if you get the new focus+tracking module, you only need one usbc cable to connect it with your gimbal to have active track, and no need for raven eye.

@@AM-wi6gw The new module can be mount on your camera hotshoe, its basically the existing 3D focus module with another camera. So, you will get both lidar autofocus and active track 4.0. The built in camera has less latency compare to hdmi signal from camera, so tracking performance and reliability is improved. The downside is price, it cost around 500$.
