Got addicted to watching your videos for about a month before finally pulling the trigger and playing DCS, now six months later it's pretty much all I play, and the addiction has set in.
I love watching your dogfights. To me maneuver kills are like playing chess. If you know what you're doing, then you force your opponent into checkmate or make them quit (resign).
The one standout in any Hornet dogfight is that howl i keep hearing from its 2 F404 engines, like in 7:29 and 8:26! It just stands out, like the buzz of a real hornet! As for manuever kills, i can indeed say i enjoy watching them occur. Gun and missile kills are always preferable but a bandit plowing themselves into the ground reminds me of boxing matches where the opponent is just completely out of it.
I used to be an AC at NAS Lemoore for five years (tower and radar room) so I got the pleasure of working with F-18s every day during that time. They're incredible birds. Watching their training sessions and the things they could do... mind-blowing. I must say, though, that I was most impressed by the F-16 pilots, who would come by once in a while. Those guys would come in for a low pass at what seemed like 20-40 feet off the runway and just shoot off completely vertically like rockets... what a sight (they tried to show off in front of Navy guys all the time ;) ).
Maneuver kills are satisfying. You can create an atmosphere of panic in your opponent, you can create one of overconfidence, you can create one of tunnel vision focus all in one fight at times.
Looked like in the last fight the Mirage just pulled up into a full stall... see how slowly he's falling with his plane pointed straight down and GS is still manuvering yet the same vertical speed. The mirage just pancaked into the ground with better than 60-70 AoA as he fell.
I think of maneuver kills as a compliment: they were so heavily focused on you pressuring them that they weren't paying attention to flying anymore due to panic
Maneuver kills are just as valid as other kills. I fly R/C gliders in combat slope soaring, and if you force your opponent into the ground... then that counts just as much as hitting him and then he ends up on the ground. Excellent flying as always GS. Love your vids.
It's good to see the hornet get some redemption! I would like to see you challenge yourself with a series against some more capable rival aircraft. Thanks for another great video!
@@wurfyy That's fair, though it wouldn't be hard to find a capable player every now and then or Collab with one of the many capable youtubers. If he doesn't then he doesn't no big deal, just my two cents lol.
@@iohn8688 Thing is, it's kind of nice that he does it the way he does. He usually finds opponents from his Discord group, meaning that you can join and might get lucky and end up in one of his videos.
Pilot over G'd(8.5Gs I think) in a Lot 10 18C back in 1996 during the Bosnian conflict. Maintenance crews had to pull all the strain gauges placed throughout the aircraft to determine if the aircraft was air worthy. It was.
Since we're getting a lot of you playing some good 2-circle fighter (well, F-18 isn't a part of them, but you still use 2-circle tactics here because he's better at this than the M2K). I would like to see you playing a really good 1-circle fighter (Flanker, M2K, F18 ...) against a really good 2-circle fighter like the F16 or the F14 (or anything better than your actual plane in a 2-circle), because 2-circle seems like ''godtier easy tactic'' to win when it's your strengh. But I think it's because you've pretty much mastered it haha ! Would be cool. Appart of that, very good videos as always ! ♥
Unbelievable videos mate, I live to see these every morning.... I'd love to see you fly the superhornet off a carrier into a massive dogfight, sort of like the video you did with the F-14!
We don't drive our opponents into the ground. We just get to watch in vulgar satisfaction while we witness the consequences of our actions causing our opponent to drive themselves into the ground. ;D
Attempt 17! Could you please show us ground strafes with different weapon setups from ground perspective? We all know how A10 Brrrt sounds from the ground and looks on target, some even know that for Viper's 20mm, but I really wonder how a 37 mm, 6 x 50 cal., 23 mm MiG-21 and 30 mm MiG-29 long strafes would look and sound on target! Also, could you please bring out *the flying lol machine I-16 against the F-22?*
Good evening. First of all, thank you for the many videos you make. I admire your driving skills. I'm not as good at dogfighting. I don't know if you've seen any of my videos, but currently I can't defeat the su-33. With the Hornet...I got it by letting it chase me and it ended up hitting the ground...It's not really a win. I think I have better luck with the Mirage against the su-33. I had two duels and managed to hit the su-33. And your last video motivated me even more! Thanks! Predator1726 from France
I would say maneuver kill is totally legit skill because it implies you put some pressure on the bandit and he is forced into a mistake or miscalculation.
To answer your question, the maneuver kill is the best. You didn't have to kill your opponent. Better. You out flew him. You won because you made him screw up. That's outstanding.
I work in the Defense industry. Some of my colleagues and I were discussing maneuver kills yesterday, consensus being they occur for two reason. 1) Adrenaline filled target fixation by the aggressor in the fight. 2) Too much attention given to the dominate aircraft by the defensive pilot who is in pure desperation mode.
Clear use of Jedi Mind trick in that last round resulting in opponent hitting the ground. Pretty sure the Geneva Conventions prohibit that kind of bullshittery.

Please do F-35A vs F-22 BVR i think itd be a close fight and I would also like to see the F-35A do a SEAD mission. Been binge watching your channel and its really good stuff keep it up man.
Kinda like Hunt for Red October when the Russian submariners watch the USS Dallas do an emergency surface and they cheer. "Captain Sidewinder scared them out of the sky!"
Would it be possible to see a fight between the A4 Skyhawk vs the F-18 Hornet? The A4 was used as an aggressor for Top Gun against the f-18 and is still used to this day in aggressor roles with certain companies, notably Top Aces, a Canadian contractor that operates the A4N, amongst the Alpha Jet A model and A/B F-16s.
Love the maneuver kills. They're forced errors, even if only because you manage to induce panic in your opponent. Although that last round was not a maneuver kill, that was just pilot error!
There's been quite a few opponents lately that try going into the vertical when they've lost the two circle, and then get punished for that mistake. But what would the options be in that situation though?
Not reversing when the opponent is not fast enough to overshoot, and offset the circle so you can gain speed and then force the opponent to take a higher aspect shot which you can then reverse or gain time to gain speed
I don't play, I don't fly, but a maneuver kill seems like a flyers kill. Both pilots fought to the deck and the better pilot survived regardless of the weapons.
One of my most memorable and enjoyable kills was a maneuver kill. Two enemies on my six, seemed like they were not coordinating at all. Just as I saw them come side by side, I pulled hard to one side, hoping that their fixation would blind them to the danger. It did, they collided, and I got out of a nearly impossible situation.
I really enjoy your videos, and always click the "like," except for when you're flying Soviet Block aircraft against one of our Yankee Air Pirates. Meanwhile, I'll stick to the sedate live of flying A2A aircraft in P3D. Very cool, man - Sierra Hotel!
can you explain the split S for me and when it would be useful. For some reason, in a lot of your videos whenever you merge with someone i don't think I've ever seen you use it?

Something magical about how the Mirage looks when it jinks
