On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

I am a YUUUGE fan of the F-15 S/MTD and its evolution, the F-15 A.C.T.I.V.E. , which had 3D TVC, Canards, and some sort of ducted airflow control system that allowed the pilot to temporarily increase the wing's lift no matter the flight attitude in which the jet was flying. The F-15 A.C.T.I.V.E. could fly like a Simone Biles Olympic tumbling routine, meaning in any direction within a 360° spherical zone around the jet!

I’d like to see a scenario where a mission is intercepted, and have a bvr fight transition into a dog fight. No gentleman’s agreements, just straight up combat. It’s hard for me to understand how the bvr fight becomes a turning fight with missiles still on the wing.

I’m not certain that the first fight would’ve ended that way, although it is nearly impossible to say based off of the millions of combinations of events that could possibly happen. The only reason I’m doubtful though, is that where that missile hit would’ve caused catastrophic damage to the entirety of the avionics suite in the aircraft, including the fly by wire. That’s not to say that it would’ve totally destroyed the jet, but it likely would’ve caused many wiring harnesses to sever or burn, which very well could’ve rendered the guns inoperable as well, depending on how the system is set up. All in all, it was extremely fun to watch, and a good fight between two very capable pilots
Fly by wire is usually redundant. Commercial aircraft have the command inputs handled by different buses, and cross checked by different flight computers.
@@ChucksSEADnDEAD while that is true with commercial aircraft, weight in military aviation is survival. It may have mechanical redundancy, however it would likely be at a huge performance handicap
GS and LS are absolutely, without a doubt, some of the best entertainment on the entire Interwebs.

I wonder how the new F-16 would fair in a FOX-2 fight, saying how you almost have to always go one-circle to jam the WEZ. I'm curious to see if it could last in a realistic dogfighting scenario and I hope we can see that in the future.
The real block 52 does well against the SU-35, if DCS is at all accurate it should be a fair matchup.
I have tremendous respect for any fighter that can survive a missile hit, even more when they can still win.

Off-topic question: when you play DCS not for content production, do you typically use VR? Also I might have to qualify -- do you use VR when you fly missions that are a bit more "heads down" in your avionics more typical of BVR and A-G engagements?
