It's crazy how much precious knowledge you can get from UA-cam videos. If UA-cam ever goes down we're all screwed, mechanics are going to rip us off for everything.
There's almost nothing that you can't learn on the internet, either youtube or google, or online forums, everything you could ever want to know is available.
@@MohawkMotors Yes, thanks to you I learnd the u-joint part and I will order it online. Otherwise Freightliner dealership would make me buy the entire steering column and steering shaft for $2500.
This was extremely helpful… I am working on a Brazilian made Toyota… in the USA…. It’s like I’m talking and the words are not coming out of my mouth….NO ONE knows anything about it. And it needs two u-joints
Great video!! I’ve ran into this issue a couple of times, and ended up at the parts store trying to figure out the right joint. I had never seen the chart before.
When measuring the inside dimension of a universal cap you measure from the outside to outside of the valley to match up with the inside of the driveshaft therefore inside inside makes you a mohawk too close to the oven kidp
That would only work on a u joint with internal clips to retain it. To accurately measure a u joint, you need to know how it is retained, and how to measure the dimensions I showed in this video based on the retention style it uses. Measuring the yoke or the driveshaft is not an accurate way to measure a u joint, but it will get you close if you don't have the joint.
What about going from plastic injected to inner clip... How do you measure the original u joint? Or do you measure the inside of the yoke? Not talking about cap size.
I'll have to find out to be honest. The only place I've seen the injected plastic retained universal joints, is in a factory application, so for those I've always known what it goes to and just ordered the factory replacement joint for the vehicle and position.
@@MohawkMotors That makes sense, I just wanted to make sure I was ordering the correct ones online according to size. Thanks for the prompt response. PS your video was very helpful, thank you for posting.
I honestly don't know off the top of my head. I'm sure you could use this video as a guide though to get the measurements and determine what size u-joint it is. You could probably find it on google or an auto parts store website as well.

Hope this helps you find the right u-joints! Definitely a unique vehicle so I can only imagine most people are clueless about the u-joints.

Thank you! Yeah, knowing how to measure them can save a lot of guess and check work, especially if you're working with aftermarket parts.
