I would actually love to see a commentary version of some of these. I find that when the players or other gamers explain the tricks used and why other tricks weren't used to achieve a greater time, it makes these runs much more interesting to watch. Plus I like knowing the history behind some of the speed run tricks.
Joseph McMurray, there is an AGDQ speedrun by Zallard1, but he's blindfolded, and kinda has to concentrate..so he doesn't seem to spill it all like in most other runs, still, did you know about it?
What you need is Summoning salt
This game seems WAY easier than Mike Tyson's Punch Out on NES. You don't even have to dodge punches, let alone wait to be able to punch without being blocked, AND it seems like you get infinite super uppercuts once your meter is full instead of having a limited amount of stars that had to be earned with frame-perfect timed strikes which still needed to be timed right in order to not be blocked and wasted.
To me this is the super mario bros 2 of punch outs. A ton of new characters and mechanics are a lot different, it is my favorite punch out game though.
I have been playing Punch Out since 1984 in the arcade and also Super Punch Out arcade. I then moved to Super Nes version. All these years I NEVER knew you could hit Bear Hugger in the gut!!!!
Only on belly pats though. He won't be able to be hit with a hook at any other point in the match.

Shoutouts to SNES speedrun Little Mac who can dumpster anyone in under 15 seconds, or at least hit them so hard they fall down three times. Imagine having that be the sort of fight you're known for, you come out to see this boxer for all of half a minute and I guess all of the other matches since you've got the ticket.

Something strange with that bear hugger fight he gets way to much special bar than normal. I've tried everything to get the bar up that quick and it never works. So he never gets dizzy before his moving animation kicks in
thats because the delayed right jab is frame perfect and gives you more super for some stupid reason

I had forgotten that you can beat Piston Hurricane faster than Gabby Jay. On my Super NES I was able to figure out how to deal with the first four fighters, but after that the strategy depends on which combination of moves the fighters choose to use.
Is there a way to contact McHazard? I thought of a way to make the TAS even faster. It is possible to knock Bear Hugger out in the 1st phase. The in-game time is about 17 seconds (instead of 12.92), but in real time, it's about 8 seconds faster than having to knock him down twice. And isn't the TAS time taken in real time? I would leave this comment on the video of his TAS run of this game, but WebNations disabled comments.

The Dragon Chan, Heike Kagero and Mad Clown ILs in this video were out of date at the time of upload. There are 4 new ILs currently processing, so maybe uploading an updated video with the new times would be a good idea whenever they're published.

never made it past dragon chan, i hated this game because i could never beat him
I can't open vs some of these guys the way he does. For example, what do I have to do to make Dragon Chan vulnerable in the stomach at out outset of the match (Zallard starts with body blows, but my initial body shots get blocked 100% of the time). Or Masked Muscle often will block my 1st or 2nd punch to the head (but not always, it seems random). Any advice?

for dragon chan, you have to hold up then do body blows. for masked muscle, those first two punches ARE random.

What happened to the sound during the less than 6 second Bob Charlie fight?
second fight, notice how the timer stopped at 12"86 even though the oponent got up and moved a little and after he got k.o it went from 12"86 to 12"92...

I can't punch super macho man more than once at the beginning before he begins fighting. I was able to beat him in 12.98 once but I could never K.O. him.

Either the virtual console version is different or this is a tas because I tried it out on Aran Ryan and he doesn't leave himself open at the beginning
It's not. It's a legit speed run that was verified as no cheating. TAS videos allow cheating of the short. Plus, this speed run is from the same guy who did a blindfold speed run on the game this year, so he's definitely a LEGIT speed runner.

You have to keep your guard low, then he will put his low, then you punch him in the face.

while the game offers some challenge, it isn't quite as difficult as the original Nintendo version. Although not being quite as tough as Mike Tyson’s Punch Out may be a positive for some., I consider this game to be among the greatest wacky boxing games ever, with Ready 2 Rumble slightly edging it out.

You must be playing the PAL version
This record is set on the NTSC version of Super Punch Out
There's a difference in the timer between the two versions, i.e. it is possible to achieve less times in the PAL version as compared to NTSC version
It wasn't the timer that gave me the fast time, it was pistons rare movement.

Cooltacoguy Mcgee because it added your boxing rivals Dizzy movements, and it turns easier to win when you only have to work for 2 knock downs then all 3. and the P.O box is more real time then NES speed up P.O

Samuel Fultz You are wrong, he has practiced. Plus the "No cheating" There are other people that can do this because practice and pattern memorizing. Timing is key.
