I would actually love to see a commentary version of some of these. I find that when the players or other gamers explain the tricks used and why other tricks weren't used to achieve a greater time, it makes these runs much more interesting to watch. Plus I like knowing the history behind some of the speed run tricks.
Joseph McMurray, there is an AGDQ speedrun by Zallard1, but he's blindfolded, and kinda has to concentrate..so he doesn't seem to spill it all like in most other runs, still, did you know about it?
This version a little bit easier than the 1st punchout.Least on the 1st 1 the other boxers had a chance 2 counter or try. This 1 dude just beatin hell out of em
I have been playing Punch Out since 1984 in the arcade and also Super Punch Out arcade. I then moved to Super Nes version. All these years I NEVER knew you could hit Bear Hugger in the gut!!!!
This game seems WAY easier than Mike Tyson's Punch Out on NES. You don't even have to dodge punches, let alone wait to be able to punch without being blocked, AND it seems like you get infinite super uppercuts once your meter is full instead of having a limited amount of stars that had to be earned with frame-perfect timed strikes which still needed to be timed right in order to not be blocked and wasted.
To me this is the super mario bros 2 of punch outs. A ton of new characters and mechanics are a lot different, it is my favorite punch out game though.
Shoutouts to SNES speedrun Little Mac who can dumpster anyone in under 15 seconds, or at least hit them so hard they fall down three times. Imagine having that be the sort of fight you're known for, you come out to see this boxer for all of half a minute and I guess all of the other matches since you've got the ticket.
I had forgotten that you can beat Piston Hurricane faster than Gabby Jay. On my Super NES I was able to figure out how to deal with the first four fighters, but after that the strategy depends on which combination of moves the fighters choose to use.
Something strange with that bear hugger fight he gets way to much special bar than normal. I've tried everything to get the bar up that quick and it never works. So he never gets dizzy before his moving animation kicks in
The Dragon Chan, Heike Kagero and Mad Clown ILs in this video were out of date at the time of upload. There are 4 new ILs currently processing, so maybe uploading an updated video with the new times would be a good idea whenever they're published.
second fight, notice how the timer stopped at 12"86 even though the oponent got up and moved a little and after he got k.o it went from 12"86 to 12"92...
I can't open vs some of these guys the way he does. For example, what do I have to do to make Dragon Chan vulnerable in the stomach at out outset of the match (Zallard starts with body blows, but my initial body shots get blocked 100% of the time). Or Masked Muscle often will block my 1st or 2nd punch to the head (but not always, it seems random). Any advice?
Is there a way to contact McHazard? I thought of a way to make the TAS even faster. It is possible to knock Bear Hugger out in the 1st phase. The in-game time is about 17 seconds (instead of 12.92), but in real time, it's about 8 seconds faster than having to knock him down twice. And isn't the TAS time taken in real time? I would leave this comment on the video of his TAS run of this game, but WebNations disabled comments.
I can't punch super macho man more than once at the beginning before he begins fighting. I was able to beat him in 12.98 once but I could never K.O. him.
You must be playing the PAL version This record is set on the NTSC version of Super Punch Out There's a difference in the timer between the two versions, i.e. it is possible to achieve less times in the PAL version as compared to NTSC version
Either the virtual console version is different or this is a tas because I tried it out on Aran Ryan and he doesn't leave himself open at the beginning
It's not. It's a legit speed run that was verified as no cheating. TAS videos allow cheating of the short. Plus, this speed run is from the same guy who did a blindfold speed run on the game this year, so he's definitely a LEGIT speed runner.
while the game offers some challenge, it isn't quite as difficult as the original Nintendo version. Although not being quite as tough as Mike Tyson’s Punch Out may be a positive for some., I consider this game to be among the greatest wacky boxing games ever, with Ready 2 Rumble slightly edging it out.
Cooltacoguy Mcgee because it added your boxing rivals Dizzy movements, and it turns easier to win when you only have to work for 2 knock downs then all 3. and the P.O box is more real time then NES speed up P.O
Samuel Fultz You are wrong, he has practiced. Plus the "No cheating" There are other people that can do this because practice and pattern memorizing. Timing is key.

Holy sh-- This isn't a video of people fighting, its a video of people falling down.
He sure loves his pizza cake
I played this alot as a kid and i think the farthest i ever got was the dude with the cane right before the Bruisers. Tough game man you make this looks so easy! props!
His name is hung quarlow
Hoy Quarlow*
Compared to the others in the series, this one's pretty easy

What you need is Summoning salt

Only on belly pats though. He won't be able to be hit with a hook at any other point in the match.

as far as im aware, isnt mad clown the only boxer whose time doesn't match the TAS time? impressive work
I love this game. Which is why I'm doing a Let's Play on my channel (with commentary and facecam). Check it out if you guys have time!
CoryxKenshin why...five years agooo..
That guy had a cane and still lost lol
lol 13:20 super macho man's like "that's not fair why does the ref count so fast"
I never noticed the time stopped when they stagger
Piece of cake, for an excellent expert gamer!!!
I had forgotten that you can beat Piston Hurricane faster than Gabby Jay. On my Super NES I was able to figure out how to deal with the first four fighters, but after that the strategy depends on which combination of moves the fighters choose to use.
I like it when you don't give Heike Kagero a chance to sound like a woman.
Something strange with that bear hugger fight he gets way to much special bar than normal. I've tried everything to get the bar up that quick and it never works. So he never gets dizzy before his moving animation kicks in
thats because the delayed right jab is frame perfect and gives you more super for some stupid reason
The Dragon Chan, Heike Kagero and Mad Clown ILs in this video were out of date at the time of upload. There are 4 new ILs currently processing, so maybe uploading an updated video with the new times would be a good idea whenever they're published.
This game is hard!
Hironic how Mr.Sandman goes TKO at 0.13.13.
He is very often affiliated to the number 13.
About 1/3 of this video is menus or explanations. That's unbelievable, but true
Bold bull under 9 seconds did it without internet back then when was a kid when game came out good on ya
Learn to use sentences pal.
Won! Two! three! foo! faive! siix! seven! ate! Nien! Taen! Knocka!
Pizza cake!
he did a awesome job but the time where an opponent is up and still counts is still not right. idk I think it's no right
So Nick is indeed the weaker twin.
Omg this was amazing!!
now thats PEACE OF CAKE XD
They should really bring back mike tyson
They wont, but they should bring back mr. dream (who is literally tyson)
when i hear "Dragon chan" it sounds like i'm hearing "drackie chan"
That's weird, when I do the exact same move as you did my super punch guage wasn't full yet.
Piece of cake.
never made it past dragon chan, i hated this game because i could never beat him
second fight, notice how the timer stopped at 12"86 even though the oponent got up and moved a little and after he got k.o it went from 12"86 to 12"92...
because the timer is just stupid like that. thats why
when can you successfully hit Bear Hugger in the chest ?
When he does the little wiggle with his right hand, it just happens so fast here
Hey *****, the Bob Charlie clip at 4:38 has no audio. Haven't watched the rest yet though.
PIZZA CAIK!!!
Fact : Rick Bruiser is the only one that can KO little Mac.
I can't open vs some of these guys the way he does. git gud, bitch
for dragon chan, you have to hold up then do body blows. for masked muscle, those first two punches ARE random.

the only important thing is the in-game timer.

What happened to the sound during the less than 6 second Bob Charlie fight?
Still don't get how 16 fights in less than 30 seconds each ended up being an 18 minute video...
only the fight time counts
i beat piston hurricane in 0'11"20
Piece of cake~~
Seems a little outdated. Isn't the new strat on Heike to do a rapid gut punch on phase 2?
they didn't know that yet
Did you edit the retrie yes or no
Lol the whole time he fought the second guy he was making beats.
Dillon Lewis buffer strats ftw.
Hell Ya!!!
why no adio on bob chrile
somebody explain the strat on bear hugger please? how are you getting the counter stagger?
it's at the very beginning of his punch animation, before he lifts his arms to hit you
Whats with everyone pausing during the gabby j fight?
Geason look at the super meter. it keeps going up but the time stops since the game is paused
I have piston hurricane in 5.22

It wasn't the timer that gave me the fast time, it was pistons rare movement.
There's no such thing like that
Why don't you check whether your copy of the game is PAL version or not?
there is such a thing.
Nobody can beat me on gabby jay, aran ryan, bear hugger
yoshier132 j video please
first round gabby jay got murdered
Either the virtual console version is different or this is a tas because I tried it out on Aran Ryan and he doesn't leave himself open at the beginning

then the vc version must be different
MrMariopro no, it's a weird blocking manipulation with this game, google it.
You have to keep your guard low, then he will put his low, then you punch him in the face.
Peas a cake
emazing

Pizzacake
Hm. So I guess I really was doing a speed run of this game when I was in middle school. Theses are all the tactics I used back before the Interwebs.
i doubt you knew what a quick dodge/quick duck was.
Girard could get this in his sleep Kappa
Why no facecam?
Because this is just a normal submission. Not a marathon..
it was also a segmented run

This is all done in minor league, I am in no way impressed.
All hacking because i tried to do what he was doing and non of it didnt work.
Non of it did work
Samuel Fultz he's better than you...
Keith Wayne i dont car maybe im wrong but it seems like he is
Samuel Fultz You are wrong, he has practiced. Plus the "No cheating" There are other people that can do this because practice and pattern memorizing. Timing is key.
yah iknow i tried for a long time you dont know what i did.
This game is wack. Nothing like the original.
