I love my two Oscars....I swear they'd sit in my lap when I'm watching a movie if they could ....they are amazing fish!!
😆 don’t they just make you wanna take them out and play with them 🤗 so playful like a puppy literally. Get so excited to see you and follow can’t help but sit by the tank and play with them.

Ik ik this has nothing to do with the original comment but dojo loaches are a very nice option for a social fish to intereact with they swim through your hands and love people
Oscars definitely have one of the best personalities!! Mine recognizes the food bag from quite a distance just like how a dog would act !

My Oscar gets so excited when he sees me grab the container of food and then he gets grumpy and looks at the food when I drop them in and then he swims away and sits down at the bottom and he used to bite and now he’s super sweet and never bites
My best friend’s dad had two oscars in a giant tank. I think he was really attached to them because he never kept any more fish after they finally passed away of old age.
My tiger Oscar gets really aggressive and excited when I feed him, there's this moment when I tried to hand feed my Oscar then he bit me and it really hurts a lot, now I only use spoon when I feed my Oscar 😅😊 and BTW he's turning 3yrs old this year ❤️
I bought an Oscar for my 175 gallon about a month ago and he already lets me hand feed him it’s so cute lol. And he grew like 2 inches in a month. Fastest I’ve seen an Oscar grow

Very smart fish yrs go when mine where little i hung a bell over there tank and rang if every feeding time after 4-5 months when they where hungry they would swim up to the bell and ring it.
I am SO going to teach that to my fish!
My acara smacks the thermometer when she wants feeding I didn’t teach her too do it she knows I just look around

I had an oscar as a childhood pet before I could have a dog! It's so crazy to me that people don't know how intelligent and communicative these fish are. Puts a lot into perspective. Now I'm debating on having another large fish tank again xD Loved your in depth info on these guys.
I got a oscar in my tank right now, and when i bought him i thought he was dying, but the workers said he is just a cry baby when you dont feed him in the morning he will go on side and sit in the top corner of the tank and just wait for food while on his side. and i just laughed out loud. he actually does this to me too if i dont feed him nearly at the same time! he also loves hand feeding, he circles my fingers and just strikes haha
I kid you not, my oscar, Jared, watches me play call of duty, and every time I start shooting at something he starts having a temper tantrum XDDDD

Been feeding my oscars a variety. Flakes, pellets, baby guppies, baby meal and super worms. Sometimes full grown meal worms. It's funny to watch them swim around with a meal worm sticking out of their mouths.

Thanks for the information. It really answered a question I had about my oscar. She was on the bottom a lot and at times run into the glass. I was afraid she was sick. Thanks again.

Bettas are like the miniature version of Oscar. My female betta flare and bite new deco i put in the tank. Sometimes she just gets moody and chases her tank mates. Can be hand fed too, i would stick a small piece of shrimp meat on my finger hovering on top of the tank and let my betta jump up to get the food.

I forgot to give my oscar cricket food instead i just feed him with pellets the oscar eat it and then spit it out then look at me like a guilt face
I gave mine crickets the other day. Now he thinks the air bubbles are crickets and won't eat anything else.
I added a divider to my oscars tanks to add a new fish in my oscar really pissed and decided to not eat dinner

Even though this video is 4 years old it helped me with my new baby albino oscar that I got with my other baby tiger oscar. The albino is new so that on hangs out in the corner like you said and the other one is always super happy and at the front of the tank

My cichlids are similar to my terrier dog. The brains and courage of the fish world. Other fish don't seem to be visibly thinking about things and working out how to get what they want. I find my larger Pink Convict watches me a lot. Even my GBRams have smarts.

I only keep fish that have some sort of personality. I have a betta, a three spot gourami, and some goldfish don't worry, all are in different tanks. Liked your video🙂
I have two oscars about 5” that are always right next to each until a few days ago. They now are locking mouths and fighting, one now just hides. Any suggestions

Aw. Mine just started laying around, acting all dumpy today, and I think he is still annoyed with me for moving some of the decor in the tank (his room, lol) during the last water change yesterday. Usually, he loves to swim around and watch me do things, and is excited to see me.
I think it’s adorable that they sulk! Seriously tempted to add one to my community Sth American when I upgrade to 180g - just slightly worried they’d eat my 2 keyholes!

When I moved my angelfish to a smaller plastic container when I was doing relocation. He sat at the bottom of the tank and looked depressed and pissed for 2 days.
I kid you not I get close too my tank and kiss the glass my Oscar puts his mouth right on mine !it's crazy
My oscar is about 4 months old and keeps chasing his reflection in the glass its like he's addicted its all he does when i turn the light on. And I just noticed yesterday he's bottom jaw is a little crooked. Its only him in the tank with no decorations 😕

I was amazed by how smart my Tiger Oscar was . When I came home from work if I didn't sit down and thump the side of the tank , holy crap did it get mad . Molly ( her name ) would trash her tank and thump against the tank . She was a reject I took in , she had" Hole In The Head " disease and finally got so bad I had her put down .

I had an Oscar for 2 years, gave him toys etc messed around with him a lot, had to leave for 45 days while I was gone my son said our Oscar named cheeseburger 🍔 would not eat anymore he sadly didn’t hold till I came back.
My lemon Oscar get sulky and always sitting at the bottom of the tank, after I had introduced another Oscar a red one to him/her. Not 100% sure though the cause of his/her sulkiness is due to the new Oscar that came in. Still monitoring, hope she could get over her depression in a few days or a week.

Plz help.. i bought an Oscar 2 days ago , all my parameters are up to par he’s by himself in a 75 gallon tank with just an area where he can hide in the corner. He won’t really eat pellets or feeders , and he’s super scared of me and goes and lays near his hide everytime i come.. do you think he just needs some more time to adjust?
Maybe turn the lights off and go easy on the feeding. However this is ten days later so I hope he's okay...

Thank you! I would not recommend it, but I have seen it work before. It depends on many factors including tank size, types of fish, Oscar personalities, etc.
@@TazawaTanks the one Oscar(The Boss of the tank) I have is juvenile along with GT, Midas, JD, redhead cichlid who are all juveniles in 150gallon for now

your video and you definitely have an subscriber, question: I just purchased a adult Oscar, how long does it take for him to get used to the tank? It’s only been one day, he’s just sulking in the corner, not really moving around, the PH in the water is perfect, water temperature at 78-80 degrees, pet store said give him a few days and he’ll start eating
It can sometimes take 4-5 days. Once they get hungry and learn that you are the food source, they will open up.

My oscar is a baby, about two inches right now, and has a weird swimming pattern. I previously had a green severum in there with him that i bought at the same time from petsmart. I found that he had been aggressive towards the severum that i had previously mistaken as affection for one another (they were always swimming next to each other and "cuddling" in the corner together). I have had them separated for about two weeks now and he seems to swim a bit erratically. He swims up and down and back in forth all day and i am not sure if maybe he is bored or sick or just a high energy puppy. his tank is in my office and i am working from home so i am not sure if this is just because i am in there with him and he is recognizing me? any thoughts as to this sort of swimming behavior? Thank you!

Oscars don't like bright light. ItStresses them out.
The Oscar I jumped on is tame. He'll drop to the bottom and swim kind of on his side until he gets a petting. It's pretty incredible. I've been researching Oscar behavior but it's so limited. He watches everything. I feel like I found a gem like garden state tortoises turtle "Otis". Has anyone's Oscar been into getting petted? This isn't a little pet. He likes it from head to tail. I uploaded a short.

I gave up on decor of any kind. My 2 Oscars were CONSTANTLY destroying and rearranging, even breaking some items like my glass heater!
My Red Devil does the same thing after water changes or temperature changes in the area
Qwerty Q so does mine, throws a complete temper tantrum if I mess with its structure.
The first one I ever got, I was sure it was dying from water or something. No. It was just pouting.
