He finally died at 18 or 19 years of age. He was huge, probably about 14" long, and hilariously picky about the decorations in his tank. There was one little flower pot he absolutely HATED, and would always bury with gravel every time my mom dug it out and repositioned it. His best bud was a large common pleco... he'd let the pleco come and "groom" his sides and float aimlessly adrift while he enjoyed his massage. I still do water changes regularly because, like you said, they are messy. I love my babies. Man, you hit the nail on the head with everything in this video right down to them changing colors with their moods.
Going back a bit to your backstory video, I guess you and oscars in general kinda have something in common, your both kind of misunderstood and mistreated. But it ended up very well for you and CH. great video, have a great day
Have you ever bred Oscars? The Oscar is by far my favorite fish. Many years ago (when I used to breed bettas) I had an Oscar in a 100 gallon tank. His name was Grumpy. He would get upset when my male friends came over to visit but would get very happy when the girls showed up! I had him for about 11 years when he decided to go to that big pond in the sky!
I have had two oscars one that died from hole in the head one that’s still alive. The one that died would let me pet him and it grew to about 13 inches in 5 years. It was the first big fish i’ve owned and is still one of my favorites
Thank you for doing this video! I have two tiger oscars of my own and I absolutely love them! Also I'm doing a speech on Oscars in my com 101 class next week.

But it ended up very well for you and CH. great video, have a great day
How to care for flowerhorn next!!!!!! Please
joey, what is that white spot in one his fins near his gills ? just curious ..
Can you do a bichir vid?
Have you ever bred Oscars? The Oscar is by far my favorite fish. Many years ago (when I used to breed bettas) I had an Oscar in a 100 gallon tank. His name was Grumpy. He would get upset when my male friends came over to visit but would get very happy when the girls showed up!
I had him for about 11 years when he decided to go to that big pond in the sky!
My favourite fish. Planning on getting one again soon. A well timed and very informative video. Thank you.
😱 where is Frank.........did those pirates in the ship get him......😥
I have had two oscars one that died from hole in the head one that’s still alive. The one that died would let me pet him and it grew to about 13 inches in 5 years. It was the first big fish i’ve owned and is still one of my favorites
Loved it Joey! I think a mini series about each tank/fish would be really cool!
Great idea!
We want Frank we Frank we want Frank!!!!!
what happened to captain hook after you changed up the fish room?
WE WANT FANCY GOLD FISH AGIAN!!!
I love Oscar 💛🙏😍❤️❤️😊💛🙏🙏😍❤️👍👍I have couples. still "must hav" fish in Asia maybe in the world. Big LOVE ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Idea for you. Have an online realtime camera on Frank. And make a small corner section of that in all videos. You probably get less complaints. ;)
Looks much better without the ship ;)
I wonder if Joey ever rolls up a fat one, sits in his gallery, dims the lights, and blazes that shiii.... you know, him being in Canada lol
Thank you for doing this video! I have two tiger oscars of my own and I absolutely love them! Also I'm doing a speech on Oscars in my com 101 class next week.
Is it possible to get Another Oscar to live with Hook? The tank always feels kinda empty for me...
So cool to finally see you with an Oscar. It’s the fish I’ve been keeping since I started in the hobby back in 1995. Greatest fish in the hobby if you can provide the proper conditions!
The close-up shots are so good. This fish looks amazing. Such an awesome copper color.
Petition to call the Sunshine Pleco Mr. Smee?
Where's Frank
Are you new? In the other room..... He has a tank with a new gf...
Im not new. Ive been here for a while. I didn't know where frank went
@@crusader3stronk575 You'll see in the the past couple of vids... in the entrance to the gallery where the new water changing system in installed... frank has a tank and above is the one with the clown loaches... you'll see Frank soon :)
Could u do the Exodons next please
Interesting.I m not a Oscar keeper. But I love species profiles just to learn about other fish species and why people love them.
Thanks again for another great teaching video Joey.I now kind of understand why you love Oscars.
I had 2 red Oscars for many years and they were like a couple of little dogs to me because they were so intelligent and friendly. I could handle them and they enjoyed it. They used to love bulldozing all the gravel in the tank from one end to the other. Sometimes when they were naughty they would smash the tank lights .
I ended up with 16 tanks with many different species just like yourself. I love your red discuss also and appreciate all your work and vids mate.
Take care.😆
Regards. ....Kingi
Beautiful Oscar! After I graduate from college, forget the idea of starting a family, it’s Oscar time! Can you do more, “How to raise/care for. . . “ videos. I really like them. :3
Joey it is a perfectly scaped tank for Hook as he completely blends in
I like how aware their eyes look. some fish just look like their staring into the distance, that oscar is always staring you down.
The lonely mans fish. Lol!... good catch with the color shift. Very cool!
