Thanks for that! FYI: my online courses are pay-what-you-can (and we don't turn anyone away for lack of funds), so there is plenty more to learn if you're interested! www.collegeessayguy.com/college-essay-courses
This really helped a lot and was a better format for me as I thought my challenge essay on my parents divorcing was too generic. I can't thank you enough for this college essay guy
I do have some issues with my understanding with the personal statement. So in my country, they say that I have to include the reasons why I choose the major, choose this school, my great aspects, my extra-curricular activities details and why I will make a great student here in the university. However, I read many personal statement including 3 of those included in your video but I found they didn't write anything I mentioned above except for their values/ great aspects. I'm so confused. Moreover, there are some universities post their topic for their desired personal statement. Exp: La Trobe uni with "What does clever mean to you?" So do I have to write an essay include those contents I mentioned above and answer the question? Or try to answer it indirectly like the way those personal statements in this video link something to their core value in a paragraph?
Hi there! Thanks for writing in. The content on our website and in our online courses/videos is more tailored to U.S. colleges. In your case, I would recommend reaching out to a local school counselor for more guidance. :)
Hey, I know I’m watching this late but I have a question. I hope you’ll respond. Under the common app writing section, there are lots of essay questions which you need to respond to as your personal statement. In this video, you have show us different essay examples. Could you please show me which exact questions from the common app writing section that are being answered by these essays.
Hi. I have a question regarding the writing style. I've seen in several of the essays you've shown that the students used contractions within their essays. Since this is formal writing, I've been advised against this. But because there's a word limit, I would like to use contractions to save space. So I wanted to clarify if we are actually allowed to use contractions or not. Thank you!
Hello¡ this question isn’t related at all with the topic of the video but i need your help🕺 I have a sneaker resell store and in the “Organization Name” bracket from the Activities section i don’t know if i should put “Sneaker resell store” or the actual name of the store. Thank u so much
Hi there! You should be able to include both. I suggest naming the organization, and then using the description area to explain that it's a sneaker resell store. :) Hope this helps!
Prompt #7: Share an essay on any topic of your choice. It can be one you've already written, one that responds to a different prompt, or one of your own design. This is the prompt we recommend students submit their essay for! Focusing on the other prompts can potentially limit essay content.
Either could work! A good question to ask yourself is: "Does this topic demonstrate the skills, qualities, values, and interests I offer the school as an incoming student?"
You are doing such a great work for the students who can't afford the expensive courses and programs costing above $5K.

I'm not actually sure! Good news: it doesn't typically matter which prompt they answered, as topic #7 is a topic of your choice.
@@Collegeessayguy Alright thank you . Appreciate the response.

It's OK to use contractions. It won't count against you. :)

Hello, you said that standing out essay should not be written on common topics. Can please share a list of very common topics for essays?
Recording a video on that exact topic. Stay tuned in the next few weeks :)
What is the prompt these essay fit under in the application process?

I have two essays, one using narrive structure and other montage structure. I don't know which is better. How can I figure it out?

Where to find the links for the essays that you were reading in this video?
