Title it Judging books by their covers, give them a star rating by the cover then see if your final ratings are the same after you are done reading them
Do some sort of epic mystery box battle where you find the best book? Or like rank them in different categories like cover, smut/steaminess, best male love interest, best title, etc
I feel like you should do a series, read all the ones from the 80's, 90's, and 2000's, and see what era of historical romance you like best. Or a series where you rate the books cover and make a tier list for them based on the cover, and then retier them when you've read them, and see if the cover matches the cover :)
I cut my teeth on Zebra Historical Romances with "bodice ripper" covers....waaaay before I should have been reading stuff like that. LOL! I would sneak them home in my purse, stay up all night to finish it, and then hid them in a box in my closet. 😄 And my very first one was Johanna Lindsey's Silver Angel.
I work at a Half Price Books store! While my location was closed to the public a few months ago, I was in charge of alphabetizing our mass market paperback sections. So. Much. Nora Roberts. In the romance section. But I learned a lot of romance author names which I now recognize in this video!
I collect bodice rippers from the '80s but I've never done a mystery box! It seems fun! I too am I horse girl, so every time there's a horse on a bodice ripper I get so excited!
Ummm....YES, VIDEO OF THEM ALL!!!!!! So intrigued to see how these all ranked after seeing your brief overlook of them all!!!! So here for that video 1000%!!!!
Reading vlog!!! Maybe pick the 5 you're most excited about and read them and let us know what you think. Unless you really want to read all 20 I also think it would be fun to see a birth year romance vlog and only read romances from 1994
Johana Lindsay was my first historical romance author!! I think the book you have is a Malory novel, she has a book for every member of the Malory family. Last year came out the last one, and of course I got it. I still get sneak peaks of my favorite couples in the latest books!!!
I LOVE IT 🙌 I am here for all the historicals, I mean those covers are just gorgeous 😍 stepbacks are the best 🥰 Those surprise boxes are just so much fun! I totally agree with how these type of books are coming back and it’s so exciting. And also I totally want to read that Beatrice Smalls because I was shook when I found out Henry the 8th had six wives haha. Also- I love your setup, the background just looks so cozy with all your bookshelves.
You literally have the face of a woman from a renaissance painting… you’re so lovely. I adored this video and I’ve been wanting to get into old historical romance books… I just finished Forever Amber so I’ll definitely look at eBay now
I got this box too and did an unboxing! It was so much fun. You got so many great ones and authors I hadn’t heard of. I love all of the medieval ones. You should definitely do a reading vlog.
I’d love a reading vlog for all of these! I probably won’t read any of these myself, but I love hearing you talk about books I’m not planning to read...if that makes any sense
I read almost exclusively historical romances in middle school (lol anyone else or just me) anyways, I LOVE Bertrice Small! One of my fav books by her is The Kadin, it’s definitely an epic journey and I think awesome historical romance ❤️ one of the characters from The Kadin makes an appearance in Rosamund’s story (there’s a few books in the series).
Love this. I loved these kind of books back in the day. Johanna Lindsey was one of my favorites. Rosemary Rogers was probably my favorite. Julie Garwood is good too.
Love the visuals if your videos. I have a book for you in particular. You look like the main character. Residual Effect by Sydney Porter. It's a good read, great characters set in the 1990s. It is a BDSM romance but not cheesy.
hi Chandler! great video :) I adore Tender Rebel, but I thought I'd let you know it's the second one in Johanna Lindsey's most famous series, the Malory family, just in case you care about reading order like I do.
Not to romance-splain but in the Regency, the ruler is the Prince Regent. Edwardian era is King Edward, Victorian is Queen Victoria etc 🥰🥰🥰 if you read Sarah Maclean, he books are soon moving from Regency to Victorian times because her books are all connected and time is passing!! So cool!!
Great video! Would love to see a video of either reading blog or reviews of these. You could split it up into parts or do one big video. Or you could do a "smuttiest regency romance books" video. Cause ya know that's what the ladies wanna know haha
Shannon Drake or Heather Graham or Heather Graham Pozzassere.....i read all her books back in the day! Amanda Scott is very well beloved...but her novels do nothing for me. Johanna Lyndsey....Tender Rebel is one of my favorites of hers. Try Rebecca Brandiwynn.....she was very popular in the 80's. Great vid.
I would love a bracket style video or something for these. A fun way to rate/pit them against each other. Also include covers as part of the rating etc lol
I think maybe it would be cool to do all (or if u can't do all pick like 1 u like the most by the cover and not content) and then read them and do a review but while tier ranking them based on both the cover and the book, u knwo the ranking system that many videos are doing now, I think it's a fun visual and fun to do! :)
So happy I found your channel! Love this idea and I’ve been wanting to try ordering a mystery box or one of those blind date with a books!! 🤗 seems so fun not knowing what book(s) you get
I just bought one today. It's my Birthday Month so I decided why not. I didn't really give them much of an idea on what I wanted. But I did say I would like no Western just because I am not in the mood for it. And no Julie Garwood, because I have a lot of her books already. It's suppose to be here the day of the historical romance readathon or the day before. Awesome books, I can't wait to see the reading Vlog For the books!!!!!
Love the headband! Also this is such a great idea. I want to see if there are other boxes like this for like, old horror/thrillers or something. Looks like you got a couple gems!
So fun! I can't wait to get mine. It's supposed to be here tomorrow and I am Hella nervous! I love HR and I own quite a few. I'm excited to see what they sent me
I think you can do all the books, but you could also do a video with the ones from your birth year and start a new challenge/tag where you as well as those you tag have to read books from either just the romance genre, or open it up to various genres, from the persons birth year. It would be interesting to see how themes, subject matter, esthetics, writing styles, etc. differ based on everyone’s birth year. Anyway, love your videos!!! Helping me get through quarantine.
I’ve gotten into mass-market cowboy western romances lately 😂, but I might have to stop at Barnes and nobles and pick up something positively medieval!
My mother loves these kinds of books, we have stacks of them on all the coffee tables! I'd be interested in a second video reviewing the books, they have me intrigued!
Omg your jewelry is GORGEOUS! Where do you get it?? Also is that your natural hair texture? Beautiful. love you & your videos and can’t wait to see what you think of these books 🥰
Bringing back memories of my teenage yrs when me and my friends would exchange cheesy romance books. My favorites were always the ones with an Indian romane. Savage Love was my favorite. 💜😁😍
Just an fyi for your comment about regency romance being vague with the time period, if its set in the regency era is from 1811-1820. It's the period of time when George III was king but going a bit mental and George IV was prince regent. Yo! You will enjoy Marion Chesney! Her books are peek rom-com novels. Short and sweet, but they are fun too! My aunt lent me her collection of 'The Poor Relation' series after a storm of particularly devastating historical novels I read last year!
I bought one from the same seller after seeing Jess's video and my box was in great condition so that may have been the postal service. You had some great books in there! I got like 90% westerns lol. Not exactly what I was going for but I guess I'll give it a try. I would love to hear your thoughts on some of these. We need all the historical romance content. I'm absolutely living for it
oil painted horny stepbacks >>>>>>> illustrated cartoon covers
@@jamiegage1347 no shut up no one cares
Chandler being a horse girl actually makes a lot of sense. Only true horse lovers understand the cinematic beauty of Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.
u are DAMN right. best barbie movie, right alongside 12 dancing princesses
Agree, I love horses and that's my favourite Barbie movie, or at least it's on my top 3 xD
chandler ainsley this is Princess and the Pauper erasure!
Facts Pegasus is amazing only true ones understand
Title it Judging books by their covers, give them a star rating by the cover then see if your final ratings are the same after you are done reading them
loooove that idea
chandler ainsley it would be so interesting to see if you can judge a book by a cover. Well at least an old school historical romance ♥️
I second this! It's a great idea!!
the headband is actually so so cute on you, omg
Do some sort of epic mystery box battle where you find the best book? Or like rank them in different categories like cover, smut/steaminess, best male love interest, best title, etc
oo love that idea!
@@chandlerainsley the more ridiculous the ranking categories the better! (I'm picturing another hot or bothered style vid)

Or a series where you rate the books cover and make a tier list for them based on the cover, and then retier them when you've read them, and see if the cover matches the cover :)
Maybe you could do a version of “Hot or Bothered” with these books!!
Ashley Morlan YES! That would be so amazing! I would totally watch that!
i'd love to see a reading vlog for all 20 books!! i think it would be interesting to see how they all compare!
Maybe you could do another Choose Your Own Adventure video with these books ❤️
i thought of that too but then i was thinking how much work it'd have to be for 20 books, it felt like sooo much just for ten
YESYESYES
your hair looks STUNNING in this omg
ah thank you!
I cut my teeth on Zebra Historical Romances with "bodice ripper" covers....waaaay before I should have been reading stuff like that. LOL! "This was published in 1987, so it's quite an old historical..."
Me over here being born in 1985 and now feeling positively ancient. 😂😂😉
Book years are like dog years. So don’t feel ancient! Lol
booktube is giving me historical romance fomo
I haven’t read a single historical romance, but I need too now😂
I work at a Half Price Books store! While my location was closed to the public a few months ago, I was in charge of alphabetizing our mass market paperback sections. So. Much. Nora Roberts. In the romance section. But I learned a lot of romance author names which I now recognize in this video!
Yo I love Nora Roberts mostly her mysteries I'm not a fan of her romances but she can write a good mystery novel
Chandler: were people even named Brian back then? *11th century King Brian Boru would like to chat*
as soon as i said it i thought of like 5 ye olden time brians but sometimes i don't wanna edit out how stupid i am
Loving Chan's new look, that headband is so cute, I want one!!!
hehe ty, it's just a square scarf tied around my head :)
I collect bodice rippers from the '80s but I've never done a mystery box! It seems fun! I too am I horse girl, so every time there's a horse on a bodice ripper I get so excited!
Johanna Lindsey was the only author I read from when I was probably too young to be reading those books 😂😂😂 but her Malory series is life.
Bean Squee me to. I started mid teens with Johanna Lindsey.
Same... I still have my first copys even
Ummm....YES, VIDEO OF THEM ALL!!!!!! So intrigued to see how these all ranked after seeing your brief overlook of them all!!!! So here for that video 1000%!!!!

I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pick up a historical romance book but now I definitely do now!!!
Love the video❤️
Highly recommend Tessa Dare!!
You look so cute!!!!! Ugh love the Blair Waldorf bow
Yes, please do a readathon where you read all of these. Rank them, tell us which is the best, discuss tropes that each of them have!
Johanna Lindsey is my favorite! Tender rebel is a wonderful book. I was devastated when I heard she passed away.

These books just gave me nostalgia, my mother used to have stacks of these types of book in her closet. I would read a few and i just loved them.
I love Beatrice Small. She is one of my favorite historical romance authors.
It’s SO weird hearing you say “Cumbrian” because that’s the county that I’m from & even some people in England don’t know where it is!!
I don’t read historical fiction, but your enthusiasm towards these book makes me want to read one.
Johana Lindsay was my first historical romance author!! I think the book you have is a Malory novel, she has a book for every member of the Malory family. Last year came out the last one, and of course I got it. I still get sneak peaks of my favorite couples in the latest books!!!
Yes girl. Giving us Blair Waldorf with the headband and I’m here. for. it. 👏🏾
Can’t remember how many 94’s you had but I think reading historical romances published in the year you were born would be a fun vid 😂
That would be interesting to watch
I’m adding all of these to my tbr list omgggg I literally was JUST on the hunt for more historical romances recs so thank youuuu for this

Johanna Lindsey was the queen of steamy covers. The ones for her Haardrad Family saga are simply amazing (couldn't read them out in public tho...)
Rosamund by Beatrice small is really good too. She is a great author. Very strong lead female characters
with a velvet glove of passion...
*seductive zoom in*

These bring back so many memories. We used to camp every summer and my mom would buy a ton of those to read by the beach.
When I was younger I was obsessed with historical romance! Johanna Lindsey was my absolute favorite. I’m looking forward your reviews lol
HERE. FOR. THIS!! I just stumbled upon your channel and good lord, I’m so glad I did!!!
I used to have 100s of these before I moved and gave away my entire library. So many Johanna Lindsey and Connie Mason!

You should definitely do these for December!! I don't know why maybe because of the Xmas ones, historical romances give me winter / holiday vibes lol

This was great. I didn’t even know this was a thing. I’m so for it & glad to see a video after you’ve read them all!
These sort of romances aren’t my thing but I love watching your excitement for them ☺️
