just gotta say i didnt know about this until now and i looked it up and its pretttyyyy bad. its really bad. i cant tell you the name of the song i listened to because its name is quite literally a slur and my comment will get deleted but you can find it on youtube. Woody Guthrie wrote "this land is your land" as a critique to God Bless America and specifically kates recording of it, and he championed equality and non racism, so its not like these ideals werent around at the time. This anthem does give off a bit of an american exceptionalism vibe and that sort of culture has done an untold amount of damage to not even just the american people, but also the rest of the world too. Just to be clear im not saying hate the song or kate smith for that matter but its okay to critique things, its most especially of all IMPORTANT to critique things that matter alot, like our national anthems. Also for all the reasons previously stated this land is your land is the best anthem we've gotten yet, unfortunately a lot of the message is lost, especially because we dont give the full version to kids so most people literally dont know what its actually about

@Nomo I hate when people you complain to about things that are bad in your life or with people or this world they tell you either they can't help you that it's your problem or they say keep your mouth shut nobody wants to hear it!!!!!

Thank you for posting this! I LOVE this song, especially when sung by the incomparable Kate Smith! From the time i was a kid, my family would take a cross-country drive every summer and we'd stop at Meramac Caverns in Stanton, MO. My husband and I continued that tradition. The highlight for me was always the last room (The Theatre)... The light show, accompanied by a recording of Kate Smith's rendition of 'God Bless America.'* Always so very moving 😁🇺🇲 *I'm disappointed that it's been replaced by a recording by Celine Dion. Great voice, but she's not Kate Smith.
When she sang it in 1940s during World War 2 the entire country became a stand still? Moms sending her boys to fight against the Axis fascist. Our boys all over the country and overseas would cry and feel homesickness. But to me born 21 years later in December 1966.
This is one of my very favorite patriotic songs. All 4 of my grandparents immigrated from Mexico in 1914 and 1921 and had all their children here. Every one of them went to public schools, some went to college and most we're successful entrepreneurs successful. I had/have many many uncles and cousins who served in WW2, Vietnam, Iraq and my son in Central America, fighting drug war and training their military and law enforcement. I teach my grandsons the way I was taught, to love and serve our country. My 4 yr old grandson thinks God Bless America is a lullaby, because I sing it to him all the time. There's my rant. Sorry, not sorry 😁 God bless our Military and Law Enforcement and keep them safe. God Bless America!!!
1943: After the pounding America and the Allies took in 1942, the country needed this; a song of power and strength and confidence which Irving Berlin wrote and Kate Smith delivered with the full WB studio orchestra and chorus. It also saved the Philadelphia Flyers hockey team during the 1970's. Originally recorded on Victor in 1939.
I first heard this song when I was a toddler. I haven't heard it in decades. But now here I am in my 70s,, And I'm listening to it over and over, with my eyes tearing up.
Kate Smith brought out our patriotism! She makes us think about what a beautiful country we have wrought, only by God's Divine guidance and protection. Kids in elementary school should hear these old patriotic songs of their great-grandparents! I remember standing for The Star Spangled Banner in 1958 when I was 6 years old. Chills of pride for our country coursed down my spine! Our first grade teacher, Mrs. Rema Barber, had us all sing "The Battle Hymn of The Republic", after the pledge. THAT WAS AMERICA! Parents, raise your children up to be patriots, and trust in the Lord, our Protector! Amen.
For my 50th BD party I wanted a CD made with Kate singing this and Judy Garland singing 'Somewhere over the Rainbow'. I need to find this video CD, Phil F. did an excellent job, many pictures from childhood right into adulthood. Damn Diabetes took Kate too soon.
Well, there are CD's of Kate Smith singing GBA. But not this performance. This is from the movie THIS IS THE ARMY (best DVD is Warner Home Video). However, in the feature the song is broken up with dialogue sequences. I rearranged the song performance and then recut the image, inserting the shots of America.
@@ChelseaRialtoStudios I wondered why it was different than THIS IS THE ARMY one. You did a great job on this BTW and much appreciated. What they did for my Bday was had her singing this masterpiece with pictures of my life. Same with Judy Garland.

Thanks for sharing! Irving Berlin wrote " God Bless America " in 1918 for his soldier show Yip Yip , Yiphank . However , it was withdrawn and lay unused until Kate Smith asked Berlin for a new patriotic song to sing on the radio for Armistice Day , 1938. It became an instant hit . The poem " America the Beautiful " by Katherine Lee Bates , a professor of English at Wellesley College , was inspired by a 1893 visit to Pike's Peak . It is unknown who joined it with Samuel Augustus Ward's hymn Materna , composed in 1882. Both songs have been suggested as alternatives to " The Star Spangled Banner " as our national anthem , for they celebrate America's great assets -- its natural beauty and its people . Thought you might enjoy some musical history ;)
Thanks. And, of course, there was the lyric change from "to the right" to "through the night". If Berlin hadn't changed that, the song, along with Kate Smith, would also be canceled!
Kate Smith son this song so beautiful every time I hear this song it stirs an emotion in my heart. I am saddened ed by the direction this country is going but hearing this song my spirit and the spirit of this country that there is hope. God bless America 🇺🇲

How wonderful. Big skies, Big oil, Big hearts. We need this so much and prayerfully we ask again for His blessing, and confess our errors. our sins, our misdeeds.
What is sad is the Philadelphia Flyers removed all references to her after it was discovered back in the early 1930s she sang 2 songs under contract that today are considered "bad" Yet she sand God Bless America for years for the Flyers
THIS is what America needs, not everyone being divided into made up groups. Everyone, across this land should be FLOODING their local radio stations with requests for this somg!!!

From the time i was a kid, my family would take a cross-country drive every summer and we'd stop at Meramac Caverns in Stanton, MO. My husband and I continued that tradition. The highlight for me was always the last room (The Theatre)... The light show, accompanied by a recording of Kate Smith's rendition of 'God Bless America.'*
Always so very moving 😁🇺🇲
*I'm disappointed that it's been replaced by a recording by Celine Dion. Great voice, but she's not Kate Smith.
God bless america tonight, truly. How good to remember what made it so great.
We need the first part to be sang all the time. We need the song in it's entity more than ever. The prayer for America 🇺🇸.
When she sang it in 1940s during World War 2 the entire country became a stand still? Moms sending her boys to fight against the Axis fascist. Our boys all over the country and overseas would cry and feel homesickness. But to me born 21 years later in December 1966.
THIS IS TRULY THE VERY BEST RENDITION OF " GOD BLESS AMERICA" THAT I EVER HEARD FROM THE LEGENDARY KATE SMITH.THANKS FOR POSTING IT UP.
No no look up her 1965 live singing of this song on the Hollywood Palace! It's powerful and the audience goes crazy!!!!!!!!!!!
For President Trump: Please, please have Kate Smith’s “God Bless America” plays/shown often and regularly on various media.
@@anneclark4129 Great Idea that would almost guarantee his reelection!!!!!
now watch her singing it at a Flyers game
She was truly a gift from GOD TO AMERICA 🇺🇲...ISAIAH 📖 44 VS 24...JOHN 📖 1 VS 1 THRU 5 🌎
So happy you posted this!!! She is great and we need this more than ever now.
Thank you Patricia!
Dont care how many times I hear this song I cannot listen without a tissue 🇺🇸
She was an amazing singer. No one could sing God Bless America better than Kate Smith.
The best version of God Bless America. No one sings it like Kate Smith. ❤❤
This Country needs to turn back to God ! And be thankful, to be BLESSED to live in the United States of America !!!
You do know that America was founded by people trying to escape the persecution for their religious beliefs
no, You dont need A myth to be a good person. remember, Religon, is the reason we are so devided.
@@Cardsharkiller . . . . . AND UP JUMPED THE DEVIL!!! SATAN, GET BEHIND ME!!!!!
Amen!
Originally recorded on Victor in 1939.
how I wish America could recapture and incorporate this feeling of patriotism and gratitude again.
Whatever a beautiful lady and what a beautiful voice!❤
God Bless America
The only one for this song. Makes me cry for the way our blessed country has fallen and disrespect we have failed
VERY BEAUTIFUL SONG
Thanks for this great performance by a great American original!!
I first heard this song when I was a toddler. I haven't heard it in decades. But now here I am in my 70s,, And I'm listening to it over and over, with my eyes tearing up.
I still tear up also.
Amen.
I remember this when she did it , but then I am old enough God bless her
For my 50th BD party I wanted a CD made with Kate singing this and Judy Garland singing 'Somewhere over the Rainbow'.
No one could belt it out like Kate Smith.
Still get shivers over this song. This should be the national anthem! Time we woke up to who we are!
A jewel of a song of our free country..God bless Kate for singing it
NO AUTOTUNE !!!
....PURE Talent, BEAUTIFUL SONG, & CLASSY SINGER UNLIKE TODAY'S "SINGERS" !!!
THANK YOU for This PATRIOTIC VIDEO !!!
I came to the US as 6 yr old green cardholder & later became a Naturalized Citizen. I feel SO BLESSED & ALWAYS APPRECIATIVE of OUR COUNTRY, OUR FREEDOM, & HISTORY, ETC.
I MISSED THE OLD USA ...BUT
LET'S NOT GIVE UP ON OUR COUNTRY ...EVER !!!!!!
I was SO MOVED & TEARED UP ...
THINKING, APPRECIATING, & BEING GRATEFUL to ALL PEOPLE & VETERANS who fought for OUR FREEDOM & OUR COUNTRY.
MAY GOD BLESS & WATCH OVER the USA & the 🌍.
GOD BLESS ...EVERYONE. 😇
Another rendition that reminds us that we are capable of doing great things instead of committing suicide that we are doing now.
In these troubled times, I cried.
I listen to Kate sing this song every morning.
I'm sitting here crying July 4th 2021 , I love how she sings ❤ This is the best song ever about our dear Country. God save our Nation from the evil ✝️🙏🏻😢🙏🏻✝️😢♥️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲😢
Amen! Linda & Jim Anderson
3/4th of a year after you. She was the right person at the right time in the right place. XO, sister.
Thank you for your comment and your patriotism

Wow that sent chills down my spine at the same time it warmed my heart! I posted it to FaceBook an wonder how long they keep it up!
Wow.. What a set of pipes.
I'm 61 I also sung these song coming up in school, we need these songs more then ever today
How wonderful. Big skies, Big oil, Big hearts. We need this so much and prayerfully we ask again for His blessing, and confess our errors. our sins, our misdeeds.
My husband lived near her in Lake Placid.
I hope he's hearing her in Heaven.
What is sad is the Philadelphia Flyers removed all references to her after it was discovered back in the early 1930s she sang 2 songs under contract that today are considered "bad"
Yet she sand God Bless America for years for the Flyers
Could you imagine this be sung at the super bowl this day and time.
That was the greatest Generation ever
THIS is what America needs, not everyone being divided into made up groups. Everyone, across this land should be FLOODING their local radio stations with requests for this somg!!!
What a blessing!!!I remember Kate Smith singing this!
The classic arrangement with Kat Smith. Thanks for posting.
tell the Flyers to put back her statue NOW!!!
She is an icon. And will always be a queen.
When I was a kid it wasent 4th of July without her singing this. God rest her soul.🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We need this today. God Bless Kate Smith
We need HIM more than ever in my 84 years of life, GOD BLESS AMERICA.
There's nothing I can really add, the comments below say it all. But when they made the announcement a little while ago I rehung my flags and looked for Kate Smith singing this. I've never heard the introduction before , it makes it that much more meaningful. Let's hope we can ALL sing this with pride again.
Wish all could hear this beautiful song sung beautifully with heart.
I was a child when I first heard her sign God Bless America. I just like to hear her ever so often.
If this song doesn't move you ,you don't have a soul .
A Blessed Memorial Day 2021! God Bless America and keep and Preserve Her! GLORY TO JESUS CHRIST GLORY FOREVER!
