I notice somebody in the comments has mentioned Bruce Lee. Xing Yi provides a very rich foundation for your Jeet Kune Do toolbox. The balance and coordination the internal arts cultivate, as well as very utilitarian and practical striking tools, will prepare your body for the broken rhythm of Bruce Lee's system. The counterstriking approach of Xing Yi also meshes well with Lee's "welded offense and defense", with all blocking being accompanied by counter action of an offensive nature.
A) this isn’t the best example of Xingyiquan.. so looking at this when reading the following will probably get a ???? B) I’ll choose Xingyiquan over JKD anyday of the week. Broken rhythm of JKD? Xingyiquan exists within the beats.. 1 & 2. Jab on 1, Cross or hook on 2 etc . Xingyiquan dominates by living in the time frame of “and” Jump the opponents initiative and Attack. Defend & counter attack with techniques that are designed to retard or disrupt the opponents initiative when they attack (i.e when they get the jump on your initiative ) Technique wise: Beng Quan might be the hardest punch in Quan fa. Every bit as powerful as a Boxers Cross when you employee correct footwork (not really seen in the vid) Same with xingyiquan kicking:
Useful for getting a better idea of the basic applications for the elements. He lost me on Part 3 though, when he claimed that the turning moves are useful in case someone's hitting you in the back of the head because you can feel it; yeah you'll feel something alright, the feeling of getting knocked the f out because people don't have eyes in the backs of their heads.
His power looks obvious and he doesn't use the vertical circle(obvious with his straight forward pichuan) which is crucial for making your attacks effective and more connected. What is excellent about this?
Well I am not saying he is either good or bad, but one of the things you must remember of xing yi is that there are 3 levels of power.. ming jin, an jin and hua jin.. meaning obvious power, hidden power and transformed power. what you see isn't always what you feel.
ukguy Your 100% correct. Thats why I prefer trying someone out to feel what they have. I've just noticed a big trend with alot of xing yi guys, not utilizing the vertical circle.
funhole26 Shanxi xing yi styles tends to use more vertical power than the Hebei styles. Neither is right or wrong, but for what it is worth I do agree with you, there should be all 6 directions at the same time.. up, down, left, right, forward and backwards.
funhole26 I trainned under his teachings for about a year. I can tell he is good on his style. It looks simple and creepy to many when he performs, but if you feel his presence on application it is obvious he did his homework.
hey hows it been....I got my hands on LIU JING RU'S complete xing yi chuan (i'll upload soon ) just wondering if you know how one can create subtitles for such (its in chinese)
José Fernández please would you like to inform the name of the master in the red suit? I think his art is refined, from the careful way he fights his partner, though trying to show as realistic as possible.
His name is Deng Fu Ming. I was training with him in the Rising Dragon School, a martial arts school in Yong ping (Dali), I still have contact with him by wechat if you have more questions
José Fernández thank you very much! I shall try and learn the five elements from this video, which might take a year, then, I might follow your kind invite and ask a question..:) cheers \:)
@@darkkidy Is Deng fu ming teach sun style tai chi also? Where do you live?I mean which country? Where does Master Deng Fu live?I mean which state or province? Please reply me when you can. I am from India.
It’s so funny watching this. My teacher was a student of Sun. He said sun couldn’t fight. Anyway my teacher went on and became a student of master Wang and became his adopted son, Han xing Qiao. Master Han had ba gua, tai chi, xing yi, lhbf and dropped it all. Once he met Wang. Wang has the unified internal fist. Not a style. Hsyq, the Han shi yiquan.
The same old story about how yiquan is good in fighting, and better than xingyi. I put it among the fairy tale. Xing yi has known history. Yiquan not, only bragging by its masters and peoples.
As you know the basics is really all you need to understand the art.One of the reasons Bruce was good cause he mastered and understood his basic. When it comes to fighting its going to be your basics that's going to shine not the most advance stuff.
Is it different with luhe xingyi or doesnt it matter when i learn from two different xingyi style master because the are no differents between them styles??? Please give me an answere :)
Bassir Bigi Most Xin Yi Liu He styles don't have 5 elements, most have 10 animals instead of 12. apart from videos you will find on youtube I would recommend Plumpub.com they have a large selection of instructional videos.
Bassir Bigi Xing Yi Quan doesn't generally have blocks like in some other systems, it intercepts and attacks at the same time. if you take a look at the Ai Shen Pao/ An Shen Pao form it is a 2 man form which can give you a good idea how the basic attacks, interceptions and movements are used.
You can add them in the UA-cam video editor area -- If you can translate I'd be happy to apply them to the video! Would LOVE a translation/subs -- I could also hardcode them into the video via video editing
Gratitude for the Lessons

I have a bad opinion about this guy because he's just too perfecet.
try Plumpub or Cmaod dot c o m
Why pick a shorter and weaker guy to be your opponent? Pick a taller and stronger one, and you beat him; then we'll appreciate XingYi more !
Thats not his opponent... It's his student lol.
