This is a brilliant adaptation and response to Close To The Edge. I find it odd that people are complaining this is not the same as the recording, because what would be the point of that?! Anyone paying hommage to a band in this way deserves top respect - they're keeping the music alive and adding a new context.
Both of you: allow people to have their own opinion. If you find it odd - let's face it, you're clearly being disparaging - that people don't have the same opinion as you that shows a certain vanity in you..... I personally find it fine for some people to like this and for others to find it comes up short of the mark. It's called 'taste'.
Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, although opinions are better when they are informed. My point was that this piece of music is an adaptation, a response to an original work of art, which I think is worthy of praise. I think it's mean-spirited to criticise this - maybe just keep their small mindedness to themselves. As a composer /v musician / guitarist I find any cover version to be deeply appreciated: it's an honour. Has anyone covered any of your songs? How did it make you feel? @@danguee1
The commercial success of the Beatles and Stones and many other bands is that it was very easy to do covers of their songs. The thing about Yes and even Zeppelin is that they went completely in the other direction. The musicianship is way beyond the average garage band. Now 50 years on, the culture is catching up to the truly colossal Yes works and their incredible musical values. I rejoice in seeing my faith in Yes fulfilled as their music endures by virtue of its quality and not the pop hype of my high school days. I was a lonely Yes fan in a school of 400, a University of 2000 and a city of 50,000. It was decades later I met a young guy in my area (90125 era) who was as big a fan as I was. When the 3 chord wonder boys (McCartney, Dylan etc) get long in the tooth, the complex polyphony of the Progressives seems to resonate stronger as the years go by. Kudos to this group and all who attempt it. The secret to a great cover - make it your own, don't imitate.
A fabulous rendition! It's great to see the younger generations of people showing their talents that were influence by YES. I've seen YES twenty nine times including SYMPHONIC....Saw Rick Wakeman on his Grumpy Ol' Musician Tour. This concert...Ya'll were felling the soulful music of YES. Thanks! Waiting for more variations. Encore!
Those who are leaving a dislike or complaining about this truncated arrangement should actually just be ecstatic that the music of Yes is being taken seriously. If your dislike is because you DON’T like that the music is being performed by what you believe should be “serious” musicians, you really just need a life. Have a nice day.
I remember walking along the Edge of the Niagara River Gorge with my walkman cassette player listening to yes, close to the Edge, tripping on LSD in the early 1970's. Thank You for Sharing this Excellent Performance Video, and reviving my long lost hippie Memories
After initial disappointment that the beginning was cut out I was like ok... I better be wowed... Well. I was wowed. Tears literally flowed down my face as I listened to her and his voice in a short yet powerful arc of the epic that is CTTE. Gorgeous. Play the while thing. What do you have to lose? Other wise... You are amazing.
It is nice how the keyboard sounds have been kept in the original vein. I guess it is the testimony to its musical values that prog is given various arrangements and that musicians are playing it, be it orchestra, piano, tribute band.
I saw Yes perform this live before Close to the Edge went on sale in America; is was marvelous! I also love this version; and to my heart, the video works extremely well :) If anyone knows how I can purchase this audio recording, please let me know!
the parts they did were beautiful, however it was terrible that just as the Song was to begin (after the sounds of nature, birds), the composer cut out 10:00 minutes of the song and went to "I get up, I get down".
A really nice concise version of the song. I thought is was excellent. However, it seems they used playback of recordings for the sound affects and the organ section which seemed a bit odd. I would have liked the orchestra to emulate those parts maybe except for the sound affects. The videography was confusing and unnecessary. A nice steady camera shot would have been far better. It's the music that counts and watching the musicians perform is the key a good music video.
To me it doesnt enfold its beauty. The piano in the beginning of "I get up, I get down" seems to rush. The voices are too monotone, they do not play with the dynamics, a wrong rythm and everything is sung the same. It sounds as if it is a Midi file
Not the whole work. And the visuals need work.. At least hold the camera steady, although you can't really see anything anyway. Still, if I shut my eyes, I can definately enjoy this.
Big part missing...and additional harmony in voices missing. And...often wrong or too simple chords used. Relisten to the original please....you have work to do! Band Geek did thus way better!

You shouldn't find it odd it's people that are odd 🙄🙄

Ya I was a relatively lonely Yes fan too. Few understood then and still don't. But I did see them 90 times starting in 1972. Peace!

Wow, just found this. Brilliant!!!
Excellent version.
I believe the wonderful reception at the end of the song says it all.
Well done, that was amazing!
Beautiful adaptation, excellent performance

Brilliant. Created something new again.

How was the trip?
Superb Job, nice arrangement. It just goes to show the music of the 70"s was magical, as was a band called YES !
A beautiful rendition of my favorite songs.
Bravo.
I am an old Yes fan and I say... Well done, friends! Not the same as the masterpiece but I liked it!!!
Thanks, a wonderful rendition!
thanks you guys
Another nice rendition, but I wish you had done some of the first ten minutes. I did enjoy it and thank you.
Well done...Yes' music transcends the FM airwaves. Thank you!
Superbe !
After initial disappointment that the beginning was cut out I was like ok... I better be wowed...

September.2017
I grew up with the Yes......That said, I found it quite enjoyable. A valid interpretation.
Yes, i seen them in concert in Buffalo N.Y. in the mid 1970's. I live in Niagara Fall's N.Y. close to the Edge of the Niagara River
Bella canción, bella interpretación con Alma y Pasión, encajando plenamente con la Obra iniciada por sus creadores, felicitaciones René Bosc!!!!!
Nice interpretation !!!!!!
Enjoyed. Nicely done!
I'm sitting outside in St Petersburg Florida and it's 92° and this is absolutely chill-inducing.
Congratulations on making this into an elevator friendly piece of music. Job well done.
The art cries.
Glad I saw Yes about 90 times since 1972 and Fragile. Never missed a tour until Chris Squire passed.
Great music, I enjoy all of Rene' Bosc works
Interesting rendition.
Fantástico!
Wow, That was in a different light, but it was real nice.....
Saw Them live in 75 with Rod Stewart and Faces and Humble Pie!

Perfeito, não foje a autenticidade do yes.. só acrescenta, mais voz, mais sonoridade e talentos, parabéns 🇧🇷
RENE BOSC VERY VERY GOOD
A beautiful rendition, I heard the Birds of the first Astral Plane.
the parts they did were beautiful, however it was terrible that just as the Song was to begin (after the sounds of nature, birds), the composer cut out 10:00 minutes of the song and went to "I get up, I get down".
Im never a fan of an abridged version of this tune but the vocals were stunning. Wanna slap the camera-person though
They didnt drugs tô realize that masterpiece

Close to the edge in evolution .
Drunk camera crew.
IT's Abstract Video, kind of like a Hippie Acid Trip of that Time Period. Get a life and enjoy that the Youth of Today are doing this and Sharing it.
YES SHOW

Bonjour !
Est-ce qu'Alice Hache a une chaîne UA-cam ?
Nice, but if you're only going to do I get up;I get down, and not do 3 part harmony, well.....
Is this the complete version of what you filmed?
Not the whole work. And the visuals need work.. At least hold the camera steady, although you can't really see anything anyway. Still, if I shut my eyes, I can definately enjoy this.
No way.
Big part missing...and additional harmony in voices missing. And...often wrong or too simple chords used. Relisten to the original please....you have work to do! Band Geek did thus way better!
So really it's part of close to the Edge sans 95% of the great playing...... make that plain in the misleading title pls.
??
where is the guitar where is the bass??? a partial version a bad version
I don't understand the point of the massive edits. It doesn't enhance the original, and obviously, it's not true to it.
This is weird, using the record
Not very good; a partial copy of the Yes Orchestral version; nothing new here; lazy
Dreadful absolutely dreadful.. fingernails on a chalk board dreadful...
What fresh hell is this ??
makwabid69 😂😂😂😂😂
rotten.
