Friendly reminder that audiences don’t hate powerful women, they hate shitty characters.
And obnoxious, arrogant, dim-witted actors.
Alien and terminator are fine examples of powerful women that audiences love. They are naturally the right character for that storyline, not just slapped on to even up a gender quota.
Perfect!
Yes! There is even a whole trope in horror movies of "Final Girl", when evil side kills most characters and girl-protagonist, that at first displayed as a weak and hopeless, must overcome powerful foe and survive. So people love seeing women succeed. Being powerful. But it must mean something, it must be an interesting story and character, good actors and play. This is not an idea problem, mainly and execution one

"Anakin killed the death star", I mean that's the only sentence you need to understand this whole show
I mean, the actors not knowing shit and blabbering nonetheless doesn't intrinsically mean the writing would be particularly flawed. I am however deeply annoyed at them being given the podium to present something that matters to so many people and being disrespectful enough to Dunning-Krueger through it. I am more likely to bash the show because of the actors than the writing itself honestly, it really sours the taste of the whole thing. They should just admit to not knowing shit and then shut up and act, that's alright too, look at what Walton Goggins did in Fallout, he admitted he is not familiar with the world, but didn't try to pretend like he owned it now.
You can't 'kill' a death star. You can only kill living things. Does he think the death star is living? 🤦

Yes, Luke blew up the Death Star. Yes, there were a lot of people on it, and they all died. Is that morally evil? Now Luke is a gray character who is both good and evil? No, genius, the Death Star was about to blow up a planet. Luke prevented that. That’s not morally gray; it is morally praiseworthy.
@chipperdrewski this is even more true due to the fact that the Death Star is a vessel of war and filled with soldiers, not just a bunch of civilians minding their own business. it sounds to me that Genevieve really connected with her character on a personal level - its really nice to see!
If you feel the need to keep telling people that your character is "a powerful woman leader" over and over, then they are neither powerful or a leader. Also, didn't get character die from some fire bullshit that somehow got started in a brick fortress? Wow... So powerful...
Lol very patriarchal? Clearly you’ve never watched Star Wars. Everyone is equal to each other and there wasn’t any bullshit to the rule. Genevieve handled it well and that “YAS” actress is like nails on a chalkboard.
Well, name three female characters in the original trilogy that have a talking role...
And even in the prequel trilogy, there were no female masters on the jedi council, although you saw quite a bunch of female masters in battle.
The accusations of being patriarchal is not completely out of thin air. But I guess they are vastly outdated, especially since Padme or Ashoka Tano.
@@ThamiorSilberdrache princes Leia is one of the most iconic female characters and she is grom the original trilogy, if she didnt had the idea of sending her message the whole trigogy would hve never happened, and when Luke goes to save her qe actually see that she can take care of herself perfectly and she is also a good shooter with her blaster, and after tbe first movie she continues to help the main group

@@ThamiorSilberdrache There were 5 women on the council. They just had no lines to say.

"Love her as much as i do" SHES BARELY A GODAMN CHARACTER!
The gap in intelligence is startling when you see it compared that way
Star Wars is patriarchal? As soon as Han, Chewie and Luke break Leia out of her cell - she proceeds to take over her own rescue mission and tells them what to do.
Yes, she's terrible in the first film.
Rude, arrogant, spoilt, bossy, ungrateful, petulant and ultimately needs to be saved by men after berating then offers no solutions.
She is what Disney have based their strang wahmen on.
0:50 you can see people leaving (in the background) as she's speaking.
You can't make this shit up 😆
The fact that Andor was even made in the Disney era is a small miracle. It is so far beyond all other Star Wars media, maybe even the original trilogy, yes I said it. It’s hard to believe the same people who greenlit the acolyte also had a hand in that show.
Witch woman: "Star Wars is so patriarchal"
Princess Leia: "hold my beer"
Now I want a scene skin to Dathomir where General Grievous just swoops in and mobs the floor with these hippie witches.
The interviewer just desperately trying to find ways to help this actress out is pretty fun. Props to the interviewer for doing as well as she did. It felt like she was talking to a wall with as basic as her answers were.
"Star Wars is patriarchal" way to shit on Princess Leia and the countless times she saved the boys or kept them in check.
you clearly see that writing is such an important skill...
it sounds like struggling between one idea and another is her everyday struggle #SheTalksLikeA13YearOld
Basically intelligent actress vs woke actress.
I'm not sure if Jodie Turner-Smith is just inexperienced with getting so much attention and was getting nervous, or if she legitimately didn't know anything about her character.
Andor is a great show, and Mon Mothma is a well constructed, multi layered character. It's cool to see the actress is eloquent and likeable, too
They are literally night and day on so many levels...
Difference between being Humble and feeling Entitled.
This is why I believe that moral judgment is so damn important. Especially in times like now.
A simple example of the intellectual capacities between an actress selected for the quality of her work and another being there only because of her identity compatible with an ideology.
Merit vs representation
Keep saying she's a leader maybe it will come true.
Put it on a motivational poster maybe that would help 🤣
we have a fine actress and elegant woman and....YAS YAS
