Oh, there are argentina flags in Kolkata! That city is overwhelming and vibrating. Greetings from Buenos Aires!
That was from the World Cup. Lionel Messi is God in these parts.
Kolkata is crazy about Maradona messi and entire Argentina football team
We love Messi.. Almost Whole West Bengal Covered with Argentina Flags during World Cup.. We celebrated whole night after the final...
Maradona, Messi Both once Visited India and guess what the city was.. yup..it's Kolkata...😊
Bangladeshis we’re supporting Argentina as well
I was in Kolkata for the first time as an adult last month. That Newmarket area (and north Kolkata in general) is one of the craziest places I've ever been. So chaotic, so draining, but so full of life. As a Canadian quite disconnected from my Bengali heritage, it made me hungry to learn more & also amazed that half my family comes from such a different place than I do. And hungry for more Kolkata food of course. What a fascinating place! Cheers Gabriel.
The Newmarket area used to be upscale and so much fun. Not the cheap packed area it is now, horrible. The fire, most think arson, destroyed it, the economy of Bengal was so bad the rich Marwaris, Parsees, etc left. The upscale (non-bengali, they are the ones with real money, bengalis spend it on food) need was not there. Now there is an upscale mall, but mostly foreign designers/merchandise. Not the posh atmosphere that Newmarket had.
New market was the main place to shop. I was there last November, enjoyed it. I'm married settled in Perth.
U should thank ur parents for giving u a better life in Canada.
What percentage of Bengali did you find in new market ? 🤣
Even what percentage of indigenous Indian are there that's too doubtful!!
I've followed you a long time Gabriel and I find that your videos really go beyond exciting when you're in India.
India is amazing!!! Fun fact the second biggest banyan tree in the world is in a park in Kolkata. It looks like a forest but it is just one tree with over 700 secondary trunks!!! The park is huge too and is the only quiet part of the city that I know of. I really miss India. Happy Travels
That park name is Botanical Garden. It is located on Kolkata's opposite bank on the river almost opposite to Kolkata dock.
Densely populated Filthy country . Provery everywhere. Meanwhile rich Indians living in their self made bubbles
In Newtown Kolkata, it has the biggest park named Eco Park. This is present in the new part of the city. It has replicas of the 7 wonders of the world and a toy train running throughout the park.
It is not kolkata it is opposite side of the river
Yes amazing country dirty lol
These hand pulled 'rickshaws' only run ( in a limited radius) in Kolkata in India. However, u get these pre WWI transport in global cities like Tokyo, Hong Kong and maybe sm other Far Eastern cities as tourist transport and are expensive.. The origin of 'rickshaw' is Japanese [Rickshaw originates from the Japanese word jinrikisha (人力車, 人 jin = human, 力 riki = power or force, 車 sha = vehicle), which literally means "human-powered vehicle".]
Gabe in India always seems extra special, Gabe in Greece too!
Thank you so much for all of these amazing videos!!! As a mom in the US suburbs, I sure appreciate the vicarious trips to these fascinating places. Your editing and commentary is wonderful, thanks so so much ❤️🙏

Hi Where are you from Please reply
I really admire Gabriel's effort to navigate through crowded streets to show us, Kolkata in all its charm and ugliness, this is what it is. Great video journalism, nothing fake here Believe me it is not easy to walk these Kolkata streets, it is not for faint hearted.
You absolutely nailed it, its definitely not easy.
Gabriel hanged around a old section of Kolkata. Please check out Kolkata on UA-cam. Absolute injustice to the many citizens of Kolkata.

Hello Gabriel! Ive been following your journey for the last 5 years or so and I have to say Its incredible how you've stayed consistent with your travels and postings. Im even more astonished how you're so capable of embracing cultures that would be so alien to someone from the west. much love brother!

That was great Gabe! This is bringing back a lot of fun memories. The flower market under the bridge was one of my best experiences in Kolkata. Thank you!
Although Kolkata is cluttered, busy, and disheveled, your video reveals it is also full of color, sound, fragrance, food, and bustling and busy life. I like how you appreciate and are able to sense the underlying spirituality and history of the places you visit in India. It's understated, but clear in your video you sense it. As always, you show the real-ness of each place you visit, but you also manage to show its beautiful beating heart.

@@cruzin54321 Yes, those are classic Ambassadors we have in Kolkata. One of the most popular forms of transport.
So similar, yet so very different!
You showed the two Bengals so beautifully.
Those places of Kolkata and unique ways of discovery were really incredibly beautiful to realize the glorious heritage of old India in this special video. The greatness of India's major metro cities was very evident here. Thank you very much.
This is north kolkata.
Most busiest places of west Bengal.
Actually not only west Bengal but also One Of the busiest place of India.
So much chaos and full of live.
North kolkata have it's own beauty sometimes it's looks ugly from outside but it's an emotion for us.
Another great video Gabriel. Enjoyed every minute of it.
I wish you could raise your camera a few times to see the buildings, as I remember being really impressed by the Paris-like apartment buildings lining the streets near the Maidan (like Park Street) when I was there in the late 80s. The buildings at the time were dilapidated but really grand, and I hope they are now tastefully restored to their former glory.
Thanks for posting this mate. Fascinating. Good luck on your travels.
Excellent video as always brother. Safe travels ✌️
Your videos are amazing........keep 'em coming!!
Looking good bud! Killing it!!
0:55 those liquid in the jar are called nolen gur or date palm jaggery, winter delicacy of Bengal. it tastes heavenly and so the sweets made out of it in all the sweet shops across Bengal during winter. Kolkata is the sweet hub of India.
@Gabe been waiting for you to reach here, I've enjoyed the journey so far...... can't wait for more.
Thanks
I have never been to Kolkata (or India for that matter) but Kolkata appears to be as chaotic, crowded, noisy and littered as Dhaka. There is one big difference I notice - sign boards on shops are mostly in English whereas in Dhaka sign boards are in Bengali.
It's bcoz your Bangladesh speaks only one language, but India is multilingual.
It's because Bangladeshi people are the true Bengali people, they sacrificed their life to save the language and established the only Bengali nation in the world.
Best part of the video when you showed us your happy face while hanging out the cab window like a kid! Glad you feel good about giving more tips to the drivers and rickshawallahs. Think about adding a button so we can send you tips to to help your traveling with guides, beer, drivers etc. Keep enjoying 🎉
You can get down into that flower market, and get through to the bathing ghats you show near the end of the video when you are looking from the bridge. Nice video, makes me want to go back.
Great video, Kolkata is one of my favourite places in India, the Howrah Flower Market is amazing. Another incredible market is the Fruit and Vegetable Market at Sealdah in Kolkata it has to be seen at night and is mind blowing. They unload the produce in groups to tribal music. Then carry huge amounts into the market whilst walking in unison. Just incredible. Take care Di from Downunder.
Loved this episode. Thanks for capturing the chaos
Nice one man! I am heading back to India for a 10th anniversary of a life changing trip to the north. Came here to see what Kolkata felt like, and you took me there. Thanks man
Till the state of Bihar Ganga or Ganges is the name, once it enters Bengal it gets split into two- one flows South wards which is the 'Hooghly' and another one flows further east and enters Bangladesh which is 'Padma'. Hence both of these are Ganges.
The Ganges becomes the river Padma in Bangladesh while the brahmaputra river becomes the jamuna river.
@@miahmakhon yes. My bad.
You and India, Gabe - were meant to be - the place where you obviously mesh more than anywhere else and I seen you a lot of places now. India truly is a heartbeat experience.....also challenging, but so rewarding.....🙂

Love your vlogs, the way you speak, and the soothing bg music you use, the way you showed the beauty of Kolkata was awesome, I loved your EBC trek video also, sad to see some people here overcharges more from foreigners, im from Kolkata and have seen this happening a lot, that rickshaw puller was asking 500 from you then 300 the actual price for that ride from Esplanade the area he dropped you should not be more than 50 inr, I love it here in Kolkata because Siliguri is near and from there we can visit many hill stations, I visit Darjeeling when I get time, it's much colder out there and I prefer cold weather
Clean, quiet, relaxing, rich city...
Me from Kolkata, seems you are from central Europe, Slav region. No Kolkata is not either of them you said. It's highly noisy, polluted. But of course this is older part of city you saw. It's inner strength lies in its vitality. It's fighting power. It's cultural capital of India. It's a city of protest and a city of joy also.

Kotatta was cultured & fascinating city. Unfortunately Left & TMC govt looted state awfully.
City is infested with jihadi elements who trigger stone pelting stabbing vandalization of Hindu homes, rape of women arson. TMC govt sheltered nurtured Bangladeshi intruders at large who are core voters of TMc. So TMC govt appease then & suppress Hindu community. Hindus are persecuted & can't celebrate function. Hindus can't stage procession on festivals.
City is on heap of explosion.

When I was in Kolkata, I took a short taxi ride from my hotel (called The Peerless Inn) to a combination boat/hotel called, appropriately enough, Boatel. I sat on the top of the boat, ate kofta, and looked at the Hoogly River to my heart's content. I was also able to view some trains passing by on the other side of the Boatel.

I'm from Kolkata, married to an Australian living in Perth. I was there last November, walked the places you've been,, new market, Howrah bridge to the railway station.
The title of 'City of Joy' was actually given very recently by the French novelist 'Dominique Lapierre' in his work of same name.
Awesome vibes gabriel thank you Kolkata looks chaotic but chilled chaos, unlike delhi where i went. Had the pleasure of a couple of 3 month trips in India stayed mainly North. First time and god was that full on Varanasi from nepali border by local bus 30 rupees i think for 13 hrs, Gaya ( oh my lord ) , Bodhgaya for xmas day, 2 day train to Hardiwar then Rishikesh( so love this place used it as a chill out between missions), Rajasthan, Amritsar, Rishikesh, McCleod Ganj then Delhi to my mates wedding in Nagasaki. Never travelled further than Europe. before 39 years. best experience ever and before india, 3 months in Nepal trekked to ABC did a month long tefal course and two weeks in Tibet to Mount Kailash, go to Kailash dude , Im going back as i only got into the valley a cock up with the guide and rest days did me in sadly but so incredible. That was 2010 , then 2015back to Nepal EBC three weeks did the extra week walking to Lukla, then went across east nepal border into darjeeling, into Sikkim wonderful but had a close call with a guy showing me around some, gang attacked him, Sikkim otherwise was wonderful don't pick up random locals for guides lesson learnt, but everything is an experience, felt protected anyway, i was ok but full on, then Delhi and a wondrous time in Leh , Ladak Kalachakra in 2014. Went to Srinigar saw supposed tomb of Jesus and had a crazy messed up houseboat experience then more lovely Leh time, bus down to Manali , back to Dharamsala then home . Can't wait to return so much i want to see, I almost went to Kolkata but avoided it as i thought it was too full on, it looks full on but friendly thank you for the experience now Bless you man :) Namaste X

Hi Gabriel, it's no wonder why India is a commercial attraction for businesses a large city that has everything to offer no wonder many travelers voyaged out for spices in abundance. Spices like Turmeric, Cumin, Coriander, Cilantro, Cinnamon, Fennel, Nutmeg, and Cloves to name a few and that doesn't include medical plants like Ashwagandha, Neem, Lemongrass, Mint, and Curry leaves. India is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating places in the world.
Today it is the top class universities in India and what they are mass producing.
