Had the pleasure as a yank to work with the No. 45 Commandos. A very disciplined and motivated unit.
@Raj Maj I would have loved to work with more Commandos. My time has passed and I'm now a nasty civilian. I've always admired the Commandos' ability to crush our endurance course times at The Basic School in Quantico, VA.
@Raj Maj That is high praise for us, thank you! But I've always wanted to know, out of the four seasons in the year, why do Commando Officers want to attend our Infantry Officer Course during the summer?
@Raj Maj lol of course!
I'm honesty glad that our 2 country's are allies and will always be continental cousins in war ...
I'm a civilian that thanks you all for your bravery and sacrifice . I wish I wasn't disabled because my heart is with you !
My friends just started basic yesterday, what a life he has ahead!
@Raj Maj After he passes out, no struggles. Nothing will compare to that torture again. So proud of him
@Raj Maj Thank you for your service. One day I'll hopefully have the courage to start.
@@clydeston - how's your friend getting on?
@@JammyDodger45 he's passing out in a few weeks
@@clydeston - surely he can't have passed Final Ex or the Commando Tests yet?
I remember members of 45 Commando Mountain and Arctic Warfare Cadre in the 70's. A top unit..!! ;-)
This is the job I'd love to do when I'm older
@MachineGunIt forgot bout pull ups
you need to do at least 65 pushups, 85 situps, and 18 pullups to get past the initial phase, practice proper form as your bad reps wont be counted, also run. alot.
@@drizzly9949 i thought it was 15 pull ups
In the early 90s met some of these guys in the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. They were in uniform which confused me until they explained the reason why...I really needed the tea and biscuits they gave me on several of the rest breaks.
The best of the best guys, be proud of who you are and what you represent....
The mountain leaders are pure beasts
They don't get as much recognition as the SAS and SBS but their training is just as (if not more) hardcore.
@@gabrielneedhampotts47 did you learn that from “becoming the 0.1 percent”?
Nah, from the ML documentary (behind the lines - 1985)
@@thirdpath2259 yeah but know the sas training fucking insane but they train and specialize in air but the sbs is exact same training but in water but water is more a physical demand so yeh
@@JDR71326 The Special Boats have to do the same thing as the SAS plus water. So when it comes down to it the boats is harder
All of my mountain instructor were RM MLs back in the 80's including Spot Watson and Chris Crystan who was former MAW Cadre. Mustard! The only exception was SSgt Dave Orange who has made an atetmpt on Everest without oxygen. All top-class climbers.
I’m hoping to become a nurse and then become a nurse in the Royal Marines. Love seeing this content
Still on the black Marlow and steel screw gates. Triple bowlines....awesome.
Para commando eh!! Both tough bastard courses for a stacker!! Where abouts is that filmed mate? Do they still do in the Hebrides?
Awesome. I am so exited to enlist
Tough bunch 💪 Thankyou for your service .iam sorry you are away from your family . Well done 👏
Looks fun
My cousins Husband was an ml in The RM M&AWC back in the late 70s. A nicer, more laid back guy you could not wish to meet. He was also as hard as F*****g Nails.
Fish on
Question: I understand that if you are in 42 commando you are trained in artic warfare. But if you choose to specialise as a ML from another commando unit will you also be trained in artic warfare?
yes
Yep
You will move around the units any way. It will be very unlikely you spend your whole career at one unit
All MLs are arctic warfare specialists. Serving in a commando unit will get you to Norway eventually. You would have to be lucky not to do a winter
@@G_micky Is the ml course still ran in the Hebrides or has it been shifted?
#Blessings #HeavenlyProtection
Do they have any training experience in the toughest terrains and mountains of Northern Pakistan? Pakistan Army has a post even at 21000 feet which needs a lot of endurance and skills
We just send the gurkas simple lol
It wouldn't be a big deal for these guys mo
Is there a Parachute regiment equivalent to the royal marines mountain leaders course?
No, the British Army doesn't have a comparable qualification.
Occasionally you do get Army ranks on the course but it's not a regular thing.
Where can I get myself a rack in all black?
@@jkendall9484 cheers
We should put Americans through our training and normal people through American rrsining
Can you join with glasses it might sound stupid I have done some research but I just want to make sure
I think they will see it as a weakness, they only want the best of the best of the population.
Sadly nature has this very same method of operation.
"Only the fittest survive".
Few hoods out there?? :)
Since when have ML's allowed the use of knees as a point of contact when climbing !!! Slack drills
Who are they going to fight!? The welsh, Scottish!? Irish!?!?
Its actually pronounced forty five commando...
@Paul RS imagine biting on that. You should know better. Lol
@Din Djarin and another one.
Have a thumbs up 👍
Let’s see if the women joining, are able to do this.......I don’t think so!😀
F off. I climb mountains with them as a civilian. They're just as good if not better.
Im sure one day a woman will. Granted none have passed RM training yet but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. There are plenty of men who have can’t do this. I’ve seen guys fail to climb over a 5 & 6ft wall let alone a cliff face
@Raj Maj I wasn’t insinuating you have an issue with woman joining the corp.
I do recall Capt Phillipa Tattersall completing the All arms. But this was shrouded with controversy. Rumour has it and please correct me if I’m wrong that she had help on different stages throughout the course? For example a step to get over the 6ft wall?
I’m all for woman joining if they are to the required standard. My only reservation would be how some of the guys would act. We’ve seen how some blokes get when they’re snaking around Wrens on ship, some get jealous and lads fight over a girl and take their minds on the actual task at hand. 🤷🏻♂️
Could you imagine if the corp had as many woman as the US Marines serving? Imagine how many unforgivable crimes would be committed...hugging in rig!
Would you say the Royal Marines or in fact any military force has to stay impartial to various groups or ideologies?
@@Veritas118 Then they're not real soldiers and should be kicked out of the force. Seriously? Women not allowed to join because a select few men don't know how to act? Give me a break.
@@sonsofelshamy3987 when did I say woman couldn’t join?
As I previously stated, if woman can pass the required mental and physical tests then they deserve a place in the elite military unit. What I am saying having witnessed it is that, men and woman can distract each other especially when they’re young!
Who are you saying aren’t real soldiers? What makes a real soldier? And why should they be kicked out? What have they done?
