    Wow why am I just discovering your channel now? This was so insightful. I'm guessing some of the information here comes from the Chronicles written during this period right? And also I had no clue the Toucouleur were Fulani, all this time I've been listing them and histories associated with them as a separate ethnic group.

    • @sokhna-sl4fp
      @sokhna-sl4fp Рік тому +2

      Toucouleur Word come from the name Tekrour an ancient berbero-black empire where fulani, Soninkos, and berbers people lived togheter.
      Toucouleur means habitant of Tekrour, it is a nationality.
      I am of Tekrour, m'y ethnicity is pullo (sing), Fulbe is the plural. Our language is called Pulaar or fulfulde. Halpulaar means those who speaks pulaar: hal(language in pulaar).
      Hope this will Help you❤

    • @admirekashiri9879
      @admirekashiri9879 Рік тому +1

      @@sokhna-sl4fp Ah thank you I've heard of the Tekrour in fact that name became associated with West African figures that went to North Africa and the Middle East. The nisba of "al-Takruri" was used for many like al-Shaikh Abu Muhammad Yusuf Abdallah al-Takruri who lived in the 10th century in Egypt very fascinating.
      Right I see now Tekour i knew was a state close to the time of the Wagadu empire a very ancient kimgdom, i just had no clue who the meaning of the words and how theyre tied to the Fulbe. So the words Pullo (singluar) and Fulbe (plural ) are the proper way of referring to a person and the ethnic groups known as Fulani is that right?

Sedentary Fulbe were of two classes: the Warriors to which general Koli belonged, and the Clerics who were in all Fulbe clans, not just the Toorobhe. Even the nomadic Fulas like the Wodaabhe has their clerics and were never animists.
