- #fulani #fulaniherdsmen . This video is about the Fulani people of West Africa. Meet the Fulani, the largest nomadic group in the world, with an estimated 20 to 25 million people.
• Hello and welcome to Afroartista Films. Today, we're going to be talking about the Fulani people of Africa. The Fulani, also known as the Fula or Fulbe, are a diverse ethnic group that can be found in several West African countries, including Nigeria, Guinea, Senegal, and Mali.
The Fulani people have a rich history and culture that has been shaped by centuries of migration and interaction with other ethnic groups. They are primarily Muslim and have a strong tradition of Islamic scholarship. Many Fulani are also involved in pastoralism, raising cattle and other livestock.
• The Fulani are a mixed people. Even though an origin in the central Sahara has been suggested on archaeological grounds, it has been found that the contemporary Fulani have a predominant West African genetic background combined with North African and trace European ancestry fractions.
One thing I found beautiful in the Fulani women is their curly flowing jet-black hair. The secret is the traditional hair products that they regularly apply into their hair which creates a beautiful sheen that is the envy of many.
• The Woodabe are one of the most prominent Fulani subgroups. They are known for their beauty (both men and women), elaborate attire and rich cultural ceremonies. At the end of the rainy season in September, Wodaabe clans gather in several traditional locations before the beginning of their dry season transhumance migration. Here the young Wodaabe men, with elaborate make-up, feathers and other adornments, perform the Yaake: dances and songs to impress marriageable women. The male beauty ideal of the Wodaabe stresses tallness, white eyes and teeth; the men will often roll their eyes and show their teeth to emphasize these characteristics. Wodaabe clans then join for the remainder of the week-long Gerewol: a series of barters over marriage and contests where the young men's beauty and skills are judged by young women.
• One of the most unique aspects of Fulani culture is their traditional system of governance, known as the "Fulani Emirate." This system is based on a hierarchical system of leaders, with a central figure known as the "Emir" at the top. These leaders are chosen based on their wealth, prestige, and reputation for wisdom and fairness.
Fulani people also have a rich tradition of oral history and storytelling. They have a strong tradition of epic poetry, which is passed down from generation to generation. These stories often tell of the Fulani people's history and culture, as well as their interactions with other ethnic groups.
Fulani people also have a strong tradition of art and craftsmanship. This includes intricate leatherwork, beadwork, and metalwork. Their traditional clothing is also very colourful and intricate.
Despite their rich culture, the Fulani people have faced many challenges in recent years. One of the biggest challenges has been the on-going conflict in Nigeria, which has displaced many Fulani communities. Additionally, many Fulani people have been forced to give up their traditional way of life due to the expansion of agriculture and other land-use changes.
• Despite these challenges, the Fulani people have shown a remarkable resilience and determination to preserve their culture and traditions. They continue to make valuable contributions to the societies in which they live and their culture remains a vital and vibrant part of Africa's heritage.
In conclusion, the Fulani people are a diverse and resilient ethnic group with a rich history and culture. They have made a significant impact on the societies in which they live and continue to do so. They are a testament to the resilience of Africa's diverse cultures and heritages. Thank you for watching, for more informative videos like this, please don't forget to subscribe to Afroartista Films. See you on the next one.

People don’t seem to understand that there is no certain phenotype for an African. Africa has such a diverse rich history. It is just that Africans have allowed Europeans to tell African history, instead of us throughout and across the diaspora learn from our own scholars and historians.
Not just Europeans but African Americans.
We dark and fair in color people. Fulani are from Middle East . They not African. They are in Africa to turned Africa to an Islamic nation period.
Europeans studied and wrote everything we know about Africa.

Thank you oldpapa for good information. I have noticed that so many Black women in the U.S. look like them. I've been to Nigeria and everyone thought I was Fulani
your reasoning is wrong. maybe you are not an ethnic fulani. you must be an assimilated Fulani because the Fulani have assimilated many peoples in West and Central Africa and who nowadays all claim to be Fulani even if genetically they are not. I'm proud of Fulani people. We have similar culture. And they are nomadic people. I listen Fulani music from Kenya.
Looking at the Fulas, I see many familiar faces in my family - skin tones, hair textures, and diverse phenotypes. Our southern Afro-Descendant "cowboy" culture is Fula-influenced. Some of our historically esteemed Fula personages here in the States were the Almaamy Bilali Muhammed of Sapelo Island, Georgia, and Almaamy Salih Bilali of St. Simon Island, Georgia. You can find parts of Bilali Muhammed's handwritten Arabic manuscript in the Hargrett Rare Book & Manuscript Library at the University of Georgia.
lol...cowboy culture is Fula influenced?? Black americans claim everything. when there is no connections. Its so sad.
and the verb to eat is nyam
Wow I never knew they were Amani in sapelo island???
Yes I read this and know an American historian called Elijah Bah who talked about the cowboys being originally fulani.

Do Nigerian Fulani's look like the ones in the video or do they look Nigerian
@@kufre4493there is no Nigerian look. Most people that you see and think are Nigerian looking are probably the yorubas or the igbos (because they are most known all over the world). Even they have distinct features that not everyone can tell apart. Nigeria was a country created by white people a few decades ago, but the three main regions North, south and east of Nigeria are different people. Different religions (in the north islam where fulanis are mostly). Yes, I am fulani, from Nigeria. No we do not look Nigerian because there is no Nigerian look 😂 (check shuwa arabs, hausas, kanuris and so on). Imam, are you for real!! . In Rwanda there is not such thing(Fulani). We are Twa, Hutu and Tutsi. Why can we proud who we are?! We try to claim to be something else. Some times we are Ethiopians , Somalians and west Africans and now Fulani!! I conclude that we(Rwandese people) We are rich and powerful people and we have to learn who we are. We are closer to many tribes from East Africa (Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania Burundi and East Congo) plus south Sudan. We are products of Nilothic Cushitic, Bantu and little of pygmies blood (rarely) due admixture of our ancestors .

Some Oromos look like some Fulani but I don't know if anyone knows where Fulani really are from. If I had to guess, I'd say a high land area. They have some features in common with Cushites yet some Sahel like traits as well. But, that's only some of them. They vary.
That are so beautiful 😍 what a blessing God has given the world
I see where the lipstick and makeup industry came from, all those intricate patterns in Fulani art and craft must be cataloged in a database, so we can always know when we see new fashion designs.
According to some Fulani traditions I have learned about, the Fulani have an ancient root origin going back millennia from the Nile valley region, the areas we now call Egypt, Sudan, and the far Western part of Ethiopia.
Where's the proof?
Just accept where you come from, West Africa, and be proud of your rich cultures.

»The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of The Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of The Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.«

They don't have European ancestry. However, because they are nomadic people, they may have minor North African DNA. Genetic companies misread some North African DNA as European like 23 and me. But it isn't really European but North African, and it is a very minimal amount like less than .06%>. Most genetic companies are heavily Eurocentric since most samples come from European people( 23 and me admitted to it). So a lot of times they will label something European until they can gather more samples from Africa or other places around the world. More samples better the result for African people. I truly think they are actually original North Africans.
