As a muslim living in hausa land, I assure that this information is correct. Sheikh Danfodiyo was a blessing to us sent by Allah, his contribution to islam can be seen and felt all over modern day northern Nigeria, because to this day there are more 50 million muslims in northern nigeria alone who Allah has blessed with his deen as a result of Danfodiyo's call to Islam. May Allah bless the sheikh and the onepath network for making this amazing video.

I almost cried while listening to this video. My great grand father participated in several expeditions that made up that jihad one of the comanders from Kano. Mallam Dabo Yunusa, the Dabo of Dambazau, my great, great grand father was chief financier of that jihad. I thank you so much for telling us about the condensed version of our history. They're the major reason why Islam is practiced in Northern Nigeria morethan anywhere in bilad assudan. Thank you so much and may almighty Allah reward you abundantly.

@@sararinsammai1769 actually I learned this from a professor of Muslim studies at Yale who’s been studying the influence of Arab-Islam in Africa for decades. And yes, if you believe that the 18th and 19th century sub-Saharan and East-African Jihads were justified, then you are my enemy. At least I’m willing to denounce what western Christians did in the Trans-Atlantic slave trade and acknowledge that it was terrible. Why can’t Muslims acknowledge Islam’s role in 1300 years of slavery and death Africa as well?

Muslim channel has to go back to the 1500 to find a Muslim country that did anything.
For the last 500 years every advance on this planet has come from NON MULSIM COUNTRIES.
Look at the last 2 hundred years, the only rich Muslim countries are because western Christian countries found oil in them, once the oil runs out the6 will go back to goat herding.
Every advance you look at or use has come from Christianity, doesn’t that make Muslim really feel inferior?

Sir, Boko haram is the creation of the descendants of Dan Fodio. This has brought nothing but misfortune to the Hausa countries. I am part of the descendants of the victims of the crimes of Dan Fodio and his children. My grandparents fled Nigeria to cross Chad and go to Mecca. A one-way trip to the Hausa countries. if you see or hear that the Hausa are in several countries neighboring or not Nigeria it is mainly because of the crimes of Dan Fodio and his people. They were looking for land for the Peuhl driven out of Mali and Guinea-Conacry. They found a welcome among the Hausa but very quickly they seized the strongholds, the lands, the fields, the palaces of the Muslim kings. In theory, is jihad against Muslims? I ask you to do a little research on this slice of history. It was a bloody time! As you speak English I ask you to follow a lady called Kaltoum Alimbé Jitami on Instagram or Facebook to hear another version of this sad story from Dan Fodio.

However, it also interesting to note that Islam came to Yorùbá land through the Muslims from Gao and Timbuktu 600 years ago through trade in the powerful Ọ̀yọ́ empire (part of Yorùbá land) during the peaceful reign of the handsome Olúàṣo. The story of Islam in the North and the South of Nigeria are different. However, all praises belong to ALLAH who has established the Sokoto caliphate through Danfodio.
