The scary one is funny
He sits down, let's out the dryest "hey", has this constipated look on his face, takes a millisecond to choose his character, when you choose yours he lets out a sigh, he's constantly mumbling to himself, and winning or losing, when he leaves he'll not even look at you
If he starts pacing outside after he loses you gotta go 🤣
it's always funny till you try something and then get checked with a piece
"I just saw something on Twitter" I hate when that happens
"Twitter"
I hate when that happens
The worst one is what I call "The Pack". If you win or lose doesn't matter the 4+ hype man for the person your playing against will still harass you or push you around. If you win the 4 "bros" will push you while making excuses for why you beat their friend. If you lose the 4 "Bros' will start yelling at you and try to push you around.
Very true lol
Man. You aren't kidding, that shit sucks.
Lmaoooo this was me at the only time I competed in a local. My boys were with me yelling the whole time I was playing. I went 1 and 2 overall, but that one game I took the dude was panicking 😂. Shout out to Scamby for hitting me with a ToD
We've all got that one friend who downplays EVERYTHING
“Dude Urien is so weak now”
Hit them with the "I'm gonna downplay your mother"
My friend genuinely thinks nine isn’t that good in central fiction
Another kind I see a lot, it's the Doomers. They aren't downplaying about their character, they just keep feeling sad and saying they suck and they don't manage to do anything they want to do in the game, etc
Those are rough man, just trying to play, not here for your therapy, even if I get it.
Mfers be way too emotional these days.
Sadbois are the worst. You play 5 matches and they stand up and go "It's hopeless, I'll never get good. Why even bother? I'm not learning anything. Might as well give up." and telling them to calm down or giving them pointers as to what they could be doing better is pointless and they will never accept it. Just go "okay bro" and play someone else.
Yeah they definitely exist.
Yeah I was this guy for the longest time - it just took some growing up on my part. It really puts a damper on casuals, and as the other person there's unfortunately not really anything you can do about it
The worst for me is what I like to call “skill gap griefers”. They are clearly worse than you but somehow they win one and proceed to shit talk your ear away to the point it’s kinda funny and sad.
There's people sorta like the downplayer, but instead of complaining about their character they complain about themselves. It's always pretty awkward. At locals everyone will will just blank 'em, but you'll also find them in matchmaking Discords farming sympathy.
then there's the people saying you're farming sympathy when you just say you suck and you even have the vods to prove it. It's like some people expect you to never say you suck coz then you're farming sympathy
@@bleack8701 Depends on how many times you say it really. If you met someone new and you're talking about it, saying it once is just an acknowledgement. But if you have to bring it up every match with every single person you fight, before, and after, then you are farming.
sad to say that i am in fact, the nerd. thanks jiyuna as you have made me aware of this and i will post my apology video before my exit to my professional fighting game career (netplay) and hopefully return when this attitude is changed.
The worst type are Arakune mains
I can't imagine man. Haha. I missed out on the BlazBlue scene. I've seen vids of that character tho
They are also downplayer and complainer when they get shitty MU
Arkune mains are scary
:(
I'm the "Gaslighter" I like to teach people how to beat my character but immediately do the counterplay to beat what I told them.
Mindgames.
Here's one I used to play against: The Screecher. They try to yell as loud as possible like an animal to distract you. They always lose.
That’s Bobby.
I've seen so many smelly ones, but nothing compares to french smelly ones, those guys at Soul Calibur Tournaments made me realize that the french stereotypes were very real. They didn't even smell like a person who doesn't shower or didn't use deodorant, they smelled like literal sewage! I couldn't believe it
😱
It's the smell of Paris. Bonjour
Eau de toilette
I went to a metal festival in France and yeah the bo was next level compared to UK
I'm definitely guilty of being the "nerd", but only when I'm coaching my friends ("Hey, you caught me trying something I shouldn't there, good job - but be careful, cos my character is plus after that"). But, I super agree that doing that in casuals is lame - it's a passive-aggressive way of calling you a scrub/masher, just cos you didn't respond do a move how they wanted you to.
I'm that nerd too, and I ensure I never do that unless I ask, or helping the person I'm playing with, but I still keep it to a minimum. Being the nerd is fun in conversation outside of matches, anyway. 💙
You forgot 'The Hairline'. Y'know that guy who's hairline is receding and he pretends it isn't. I have no idea how this fits into the FGC but there you have it. Close cousin to 'The Commentator' and 'The Weeaboo'. ;)
Just wait for the hairline reveal vid 🤗
The “Scary one” person looks like a maniac whoever that was, someone warn MajinObama about him
I met the scary one the first time I went to play Tekken locally. I won a short set against this guy who grabbed my hand and told me to sit down when I tried to leave. Wouldn't let me switch characters either. And he was one of those guys who hits his buttons so hard he must go through a few sticks every year. He must've been in his 40s at least and I could just sense the salt and rage radiating from him. He eventually took a match, popped off and left. Never saw him again.
In my mind I call him the ghost of online Tekken.
These vids are always fun for a laugh, would love to see a "The BEST kind of people to play against" video. Would be good to see some good examples for people that haven't been to a local or are a bit socially awkward/nervous
Planning on it!
I'm "the nerd" and I've learned my lesson, just say GG's and move on - once you're at home in the shower just say "LOL they didn't know it was -5" and get it off your chest
I had a Scary One once who had some beef with one of the top players in our region. The guy he didn't like had the name Blunted Object so the Scary One brought a literal blunted object to locals once and said he'd use it he kept getting harassed. No one messed with him after that. But the worst for me is the guy who whines about how his combos worked in the lab, constantly talking about how rusty he is or how he isn't warmed up.
Everyone’s a whiner!
The scary one in latin America is the dude who shows you a piece on his waist between the matches
Bruh.
I’m surprised we never got one for “the troll”. Every time I play against someone and they do every thing in their power to piss you off. Purposely resetting, randomly run up super in your face, teabagging god it irks me to high hell
The worst type of people to play are people with girlfriends, especially on Christmas
Those jerks.
This one's gonna be a banger and I haven't even watched it yet
Edit: this one had it all, Shots at Sajam and Smash. A top 5 list. Twitch drama. Absolute banger
LTG.
Never forget this man who unironically said "THIS GUY'S DOING STRINGS!" and "THIS DUDE'S DOING 10-HIT COMBOS"...in the same match.
Uses meta, complains that other people are using meta. Uses game mechanics, complains that other people are using game mechanics. He accepts defeats begrudgingly once in a blue moon.
Worst type of mentality I've seen in anyone.
He built a living off of it, so props to him.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI can you really call that a living?
@@garminbozia after the Ban arc he started an only fans and mans in the trenches fr fr. Now he doesnt even try to make content hebjust watches tv and sits on his phone all stream
Goddamn, I met one of those nerds, first thing he brings up, "I was on a Sajan stream" 😂
I went to my first local tournament back around ultra Sf4, and I was still pretty much a newbie at the time. My first opponent came up to me and was like, "Hey man, this is my first time playing the game, don't really know what I'm doing," then proceeded to tick throw me with green hand into spd as Gief over and over because I sucked at the game. Literally every time he landed it he'd just say, "Yeah, sorry, this is my first time playing this game." Didn't say anything but man I was tilted lmao
If I get hit at a tournament, I'm putting you to sleep. That does not fly.
Jiyuna this vid was minus 10 on block. Ya can't be just throwing that ish out there. Get serious!
Jiyuna, please do a part 2! 🙏
I think you'll like some of mine. You've been around, so I KNOW you've seen these.
● The Mentally Untouchable:
The player who will swear to you that they know what they're talking about but clearly doesn't. Not always a scrub, but usually is and delivers the best scrub quotes the internet has seen. They carry this false belief that they're informed, talk to others like they're experts just because they have hours logged or overcome a few hurdles. At their worst, they will label you all kinds of things, criticize what you do, and swear they know what they're talking about. However cant hold abd argument when you confront them with the facts.
(I swear that move is plus! They must've patched it since I last played! Nah man, that shouldn't have worked like that! The game isn't letting me do my moves!)
● The Wrathful Ego:
Typically, but not always an intermediate or higher skilled player. They might know their stuff but will take our their shortcomings on you. They will assume no one they play against knows ANYTHING. These players will get baited, set up, trapped, outsmarted, or make mistakes., but can't accept when it happens. They openly and unabashedly find excuses that would resign them of any accountability.
The part that sucks is that their excuse will also double as a way to discredit or insult their opponents. What makes these players the worst imo, is their diehard attitude, which leads them to show no shame. Argumentative and hot headed. Even if they know they're wrong? it's a habit they'll give into because it feels better to blame your opponent than to admit their not perfect. Sometimes to the point of being sociopathic, decietful, publicly toxic and with no remorse. Will play the victim. Likely to try turning others against you.
(YOU'RE SO RANDOM! There is no way you knew that! You're f***ing trash, I'm not running it back. Nah dude, dont play him all he does is 'insert bs here'.)
● The Wounded:
It doesn't matter that they don't practice enough or at all. It doesn't matter what you explain to them, what you demonstrate or what you prove. They will promise you that they would be better or winning if the developer patched the game and specifically in the way they think would most benefit the game, but usually just ends up being something they think will buff their game. All they need is to be patched up.
(When's the next patch? These devs have no idea how to balance the game! Bro, that shit is busted, you won't be good after they patch it out.)
● The Possum
These players are usually rookies. They tend to harbor feelings of resentment or have excess pride. But they don't show it and it's the very foundation for their devious tactics.
Similar to their cousins "The One-N-Doner" but a much more sinister archetype. These players embody pettiness. More commonly, after losing or feeling slighted in any way. They will find something to hold against you and will plot revenge. They don't care if they lost, they did that ONE thing and won't let it go. Lost convincingly? They will often try to lure you to other games or talk you into playing differently or swapping characters to create an opportunity.
Natural born schemers, these players ALSO OS you preemptively pretending to be new or inexperienced. If they lose? They TOLD YOU, they're not good or they only "play for fun". But if they win?... oh boy... You WILL have it rubbed in your face. They gotcha! And that's all that matters to them. The empty "moral victory"
(Yeah man, take it easy on me. I'm new/I haven't played in a while. What's the buttons? Yeah, you didnt see THAT coming though, did you?! See. I told you I wasn't bad. I'm just not good at that other game. I told you I would beat you at this game you don't even play. I thought you were good, what happened?)
I legit didn't even realize I was the 1st one/doomer piece of shit until a genuine incel told me my attitude towards fighting games was insufferable, 100% serious rn. Getting cooked by a legitimately unhappy person (bad job, very unhealthy, etc) forced me into a long period of introspection and reflection that benefitted me greatly, changed my life even. Shit like video games shouldn't make you feel anger or grief. They (among many other things) are completely inconsequential unless you tie your own self worth to them. Great vid dude
Any type of competition can teach you a lot about yourself.
"noel brown" lmao
2:39 lol
My specialty seems to be to pick characters that turn a lot of people into complainers.
Same bro I just love grapplers and general big button guys but apparently that's NOT ALLOWED >:[
The battle begins before the game. Showing up smelly is just one part of the strategy handbook. If you can't adapt to it with mouth breathing or nose-plugs, that's on you - you lost the prep war.
Whatever it takes to win.
Damn I'm sort of a nerd, but pretty much with only my own gameplay. Like I'll do a move that's plus and go "gotta love that plus 5" etc, rather than using frame data to try and explain why I made the "optimal" option or something. On another note, one of my boys is definitely a complainer hands down.
I always try to compliment my opponent and make jokes when i screw up to stop from exploding and being an angry loser
I hate the 'Ah man I'm so bad' players
Jiyuna, why'd you have to do this to me? I came into this list thinking I'd get to write a comment about how in my friend group some of us are this one, others are that one. But no. You led with the complainer, which is me, and didn't have a type for any of my other friends. D: And here I am, complaining again. I am the problem. 😭
Hahaha love you Jiyuna, this video killed me man, damn how hard you made me laugh with this one.
Glad SOMEONE thinks my jokes are funny.
I turn into the complainer really quick when fighting testament.
You should have made a "Latif" section where he is constantly telling you that you are carried.
YOU’RE CARRIED
WALLAH YOU'RE CARRIED
You left out my type: the spectator.
How about when someone beats you and goes “damn I didn’t expect to win haha that’s crazy I don’t even know what your character does”
That’s the OS’er
Problem with hitting someone...they hit back.
What about the projector? You know the guy. "You only won because you're bad!" This guy accuses YOU of making his mistakes and criticizes every decision you make. Definitely related to the complainer and the downplayer.
I had that happen to me from a friend who was also a teammate/coach of mine during SF4 days. I beat him in our weeklies twice in a row and he started projecting that attitude towards me which made me upset because we were becoming good friends.
I confronted him about at a party a few weeks and he apologized and we’ve been cool ever since. Still when it happened it just boggled my mind because he made it super personal. I still witness some players like that consistently and it’s just sad.
The most annoying types of players I've faced were the ones that wouldn't stop whining and complaining about the character you are playing as. Pointing out every little advantage you might have, even if they're the ones winning....
complaining is always a downer. Even if the complaints are valid.
Haven't finished the video but *Rick Ross Voice* "Can all commentators get paid"
As Sol player every time someone tells me to stop "spamming" I just curb stomp the nerd on the side walk and make him taste the pain.
I’ll take mashers over dudes that only press buttons after you do. Insufferable.
I don't even talk while I'm playing apart from the occasional exclamation of things like "Damn it.", "Oh, nice!" and such if something unexpected happens. I'm here to play, the conversation can happen later. :p
remember Jiyuna, "Salmon Pink"
That 2nd one is called the ltg
Friend of mine I grew up with would always be yelling "You're mashing, you're mashing!", "That move is so broken, what am I supposed to do?!?!", "This move is so crap", "That's plus?!", "How???". Now we aren't really a toxic group but every time he lost a match he'd get trashed talked. Only him.
Whining among friends can be fun, but with strangers it’s annoying.
I did not give you permission to expose me like that, bro.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI when a stranger has the gaul to complain in person. Well I'll just say it takes a real special kind of person and not in a good way.
my favorites were the players that blame everything on their arcade stick possibly being broken
The Nerd is annoying because they outplay themselves waiting for their plus frames then call you a scrub when they lose. ROFL
I had a couple people treat me like the scary one at Taku in 2022. I just have a really bad resting face :(
Smile.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI I can't I'm fighting Axl players
Same man I apparently look like im mad but im just chilling
No matter the game, these stereotypes will be in your game. As someone who was a tournament grinder for Magic the Gathering, aside from "The Scary One" all of these are very true.
Which type should I put myself in if I always keep whinning like "aw man it wasn't supposed to be THAT it was supposed to be THAT fuck missiniputs " or smth like this 🤣
DSP level
The worst player is the "I'm just Casual" player - the moment you do ANYTHING the deem wrong, they scream at you, accuse you of trying to hurt them, bring up that they have 12 jobs and 10 kids and don't have time to be a sweaty good for nothing NEET like /YOU/, claim that you take things way too seriously (even though THEY are the ones getting bent out of shape), and will constantly try to invalidate everything adding house rule after house rule until nothing is acceptable. At this point if I hear "I just wanna have a good time" it's a RED FLAG - I'd rather fight some whiny sweatlord that moans about characters more than any of these "I'm just a casual! stop trying" players ever again
Man, I can relate to this. This is SOO true.
Man idk where I fall but I do like, the opposite of downplaying. My friends make comments on it because I'm constantly missing a punish and I go "man I should punish that and be better." I get hit by a mix "I should be able to block that but I'm being dumb" or my friends favorite when I lose "this character is good I'm just not good enough for them."
90 's arcades there is always a guy who never buy a coin but stands near the most popular games and ask people to " can take a round i can win " he is super talented he knew he is best but he doesnt care you lose or win while you are trembling down beside him he talks with others get cheer from others greet others while playing game and he wins without even looking screen .
1:00 Damn he gave him the full palm to the face.
Worst Kind of Players to Fight Against in GG or BB.
Hazama, Terumi, Tager, Arakune Mains.
Slayer, Potemkin, Happy Chaos, Nago Mains.
7:00 The Scary One. Boss Mode Phase 2.
Sonicsol and Punk are "nerds" for sure. LUL
You forgot "the upset one". That dude who loses almost every time and comes to play you with a face of someone who will be losing once more. That's me. xD
i hate when i beat my step dad and then he beats my mom.. makes me watch and says its all my fault. then when i let him win he make me spank him 😢
😶
5:55 somebody said anti punk twch💀
Plays the best track of the guilty gear Korean ost. I see you jiyuna.
"If you subscribe to Sajam, this is probably you."
Yeah.... The Nerd is me. But the way you describe it isn't always how it has to go down. It's not flexing when I'm telling my (The Complainer/Scary One) friend something that can improve their game. Especially when I just want to see them do better.
I definitely flex. But when I flex, it's not passive-aggressive. Its blatant light-hearted teasing. I'm only speaking for myself, though. I can't vouch for my fellow nerds. 🤓
RIP Samba de Amigo machine 🙏🙏🙏
With appropriate fact drops the nerd can be the best learning partner though
Man, I hate fighting against the nerds. I’d ran across a player in Smash Bros Ultimate and he said that he wanted to learn the Mii Brawler matchup, but then he keeps bugging at me about my moveset. “Why run Flashing Mach Punch? You know Shot Put is better, right? You should start optimizing your moveset.” Like, bro, I didn’t ask you for your opinion. I just want to play the game. This is just FRIENDLIES!! 😂😂😂
How do you not fight somebody after a slap like that
👊🏻
I am without a doubt the scary one. i dont have any actual aggressive intent but when i lose like 6 games in a row i start to get REAL quiet.
I'm a complainer and I know it. Although usually only because my friend picks the same meta characters that are annoying to play against. They have no connection to the character other than they are broken right now (Steve). I still win because they are not the best of players but I still would like them to try out a character they like or have a connection to as it feels like a this player is in every game.
The Unhelpful One
opposite of the nerd; you ask them "is that plus?" "how do you deal with X?" etc. and they actually say "git gud" in real. may intentionally mislead new players about game mechanics to get an edge. often a normal player mistaken for this by The Nerd for brushing off their inane questions
The Substance Abuser
shows up pre-gamed, probably has something harder than weed in his pocket, may or may not reek of alcohol or rocks. can be fun but often goes overboard. Is saving up to go to Evo just because it's an excuse to hit Vegas and act like Hunter S Thompson
The Poor Man
doesn't pay venue fee or into the pot, or if it's a free place or just some guy's house, never buys a drink/snack, never pitches in on group meals, etc. probably always needs a loaner stick and might not even own the game he plays
The Groomer
goes to locals solely to pick up chicks, shill a discord, recruit for political groups, network for jobs, etc. sees fighting games as a way to get into a community that tolerates them. very likely to get banned for soliciting underage players
The Not(?) Smelly One
out of fear of being The Smelly One, wears too much cologne/perfume and uses aggressively scented soaps. Smells pleasant at first but will give you a headache eventually. causes a resonance cascade with The Smelly One
I’m still caught up by the first clip. Did you see that man glasses after
Smash players wild.
I thought I was safe from this list til the "scary one" popped up.
I'm already quiet in general and I do not react at all while I play casuals, so maybe I come off as more threatening than I intend to 😅
I need to work on that
i mean, if you aint arrogant and tough dont be surprised if you get checked on it. being a muscular guy - the threat of physical violence is always there. except im willing to take it further. i go to events with gear on me or in my car just in case someone wants to be funny.
"You're so free!!!" *loses*
What a cruel fate that all of us have been guilty of one of these archetypes.
And for generations to come there will be more.
Jiyuna with another banger
I don't like playing with those guys who quit after one loss or mid match. And they don't have the gall to ragequit.
The dodgers.
Well, sometimes for "The Nerd" they can also just be doing it out of a genuine desire to see someone improve and not make the same mistakes repeatedly. Be honest, it's hard to watch someone else play and you see them, for example, not know how to punish something that you know how to punish. Or maybe they could've gotten the kill if they knew the right way to extend a combo.
Unsolicited advice can be very annoying.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI Yeah, but I'm just saying...sometimes it's coming from a place of love.
I'm 100% the nerd but I have the awareness to not say it out loud except outside of my personal friends who I'm sure mute me while playing strive anyway
im proudly the complainer, the nerd and the downplayer at the same time, but only with friends
With friends everything is fine.
Maybe I'm the downplayer. I have a friend that I play a lot of fighting games with. The thing is that she is so good that I can't win, and I just get frustrated, and I make some things like choose my character just to get killed. I wanna change that, cause probably if I continue that way, she probably will never want to play with me (also, sorry if I made a mistake writing this, I'm not so good with english)
You have to accept losing, even though it’s hard. Just focus on improving, not winning.
lowkey i be complaining
gotta change my ways before its too late
Stimulation of the algoration
With time i have come to a conclusione to be all five of them.
I figured out to have a bad behaviour and to make others Who enjoy playing uncomfortable around me.
I tried to "force" myself playing fighting game even when i don t enjoy them anymore.
I used to love them but recentely i have understand It.
It was hard to accept but i don t like them anymore.
And i was hurting others (not physically ) with my bad Mood.
I like to see them, and now i only look others playing fighting game. In this way i don t hurt anyone anymore and i still stay with my friend Who love to play them, cheerish for them, giving advice on something and Just having fun with them without damaging their passion anymore
The Obama reply will be EPIC..... 😂
Oh man… The smelly one. That one has scared me away from many casuals… usually pretty good… they’re channeling their inner and outer Ryu… haven’t washed since 2014… oof.
4:47 LTG be like:
I don't think i am one of them. I might be the scary one when i play team games and my team is not performing well, but only if my teammates do not put enough effort, if they did everything they could I won't be that mad at them.
The smelly one is the toughest since they are so close to being ight
Always GG, no teabag
He would’ve been waking up the next day!!!
The smelly fellas exist everywhere. They’re hella dope to hangout with online but damn, I really wish they’d make deodorant cheaper.
I was wondering which one Obama fell under , he scared that poor JP player out of the arcades just just by making eye contact , his presence alone if enough to install fear in many 😂
I love playing fighting games but i dont like playing against human for all this reason.
Just find some friends to play with.
@@ANIMEILLUMINATI well all the one i found turn out to be easier than average computer. I had to purposely give them a win. Funny thing is when i played random online i like never win, so its no fun
lol the kid I play strive with most is a complainer. "maaan nago so bad, ugh why they nerf him, uhg blood meter is sooo stupid" like dude you have HP, I have Eddie shut up lol.
Nago downplayers 😩
grapplers ofc
The degenerates I keep running into are trash talkers who turn out to be button mashing (What's a hadoken? How do you block?) scrubs.
I drove across town with my arcade stick for this?
