- FULLSTERKUR is the third documentary in a collection of films produced by Rogue Fitness, exploring strength culture around the world, connected specifically by the ancient tradition of stone lifting.
Nestled at the doorstep of the Arctic Circle, the country of Iceland is uniquely acquainted with the relationship between strength and survival. For hundreds of years, men and women were challenged to overcome harsh weather and endless winter nights by developing their own distinct physical and mental fortitude-passed down from the age of the Vikings, and iconically represented by the lifting of heavy stones. Today, on an island with a population of just over 300,000, a disproportionate number of the world’s greatest strength athletes still call Iceland home.
The film features some of the modern stars of Iceland strength, including Magnus Ver Magnusson, Hafthor Bjornsson, and Annie Thorisdottir. But it also sheds light on strength culture’s early roots in the region, from the traditions of the Vikings and Sagas to the lives of farmers and fishermen.

I wished Rogue Fitness had contacted me about this film but they didnt,. I have pictures of my grandfather Gunnar Salmónsson, who was the strongest man in Iceland from 1930 to 1960,. I have tons of pictures of him lifting stones, bending metal bars, lifting cars, and he was invited to the Olympics in 1936 Germany Berlin,. For some reason the strongmenn of Iceland have forgotten about him and that is sad,. If it could happen to him then 50 years, 75 years, 100 years, the strongmenn of Iceland today will be forgotten and that would be a shame. My grandfather was called URSUS the original true one.
That's a shame. You absolutely should upload those pictures to the internet.
I hope to see those pictures and hear his story too :) You must be very proud.
Thank you for sharing this Gunnar
I'd love to see those pictures, that would be great to see.
Make a wikipedia page about him. Spread his name and legend. That's how he won't be forgotten.
Movies and documentation like this is why the current Icelandic strongmen won't be forgotten. Share his story so it won't be forgotten.
"Times have changed, but the stone weighs the same." 1:18:30... ROGUE, can we get a shirt with that quote?
A company building weights and barbells just created a better documentary than NATGEO
Because they already have an understanding and respect for lifting
Does national geographic even lift bro?
@@IanB85 NATGEO thinks any exercise at all is a product of toxic masculinity.
"Do you feel this? The calm after the effort...this gives me peace." Love that
The peace and calm was short lived before that YEAH!! 😂 that definitely took me by surprise

How do more people not know about this inspiring documentary about Icelandic culture that happens to also be tied to strength, fitness and competition? Thank you so much Rogue team, Producers, director Todd Sansom and crew for making this project a reality.
People don't even know what a man or a woman is, these days, it's not strange to think there is more they don't understand or know.
“The calm after the effort gives me peace”; Whoa!
Respecting your ancestors and protecting your own culture, it's shame many countries are failing to do this.
After watching this video i've never felt more proud to be from Iceland. Big thanks to Rogue Fitness and the strongmen from Iceland!
I hope you don't have the same insane politicians like the rest of Western Europe where it has now become some kind of crime to be proud of your own heritage.
You have good reason to be proud of your heritage.
Respect from Denmark
Made me cry and think deep about my grandparents. This made me proud to know where I come from!
I love Viking culture, their sagas and history. They should be proud.
Most heartfelt greetings to Iceland! 🇮🇸💪🏻
This documentary, the people in it, the picture quality, the very heart is has...
It's all Fullsterkur.
AMAZING! Thanks for making this happen @rogue fitness. I am sure this was NOT easy or cheap! Grateful you guys make these documentaries happen, I LOVE them!!!

"How am I gonna watch an hour and a half of dudes picking up stones?"
With your eyes open.
This legendary documentary is among my main pre workout videos! It's absolutely brilliantly well done. I'm not as Strong as an Icelander, but in my heart I believe I'm also an Icelandic Viking!
Koma Svo! 💪🏻🇮🇸
Such a proud people. With all thats going on in the world its very heartwarming to see people take pride in where they come from. Also everybody in iceland just seems so wholesome. I feel like they all welcome visitors with open arms.
This is just a *MASTERPIECE* , not only in doc film, but in *storytelling* !
Such a great work !
Is there any behind the scene of this journey to watch somewhere ? I would love to see how this incredible team with Todd Sansom were able to deliver this kind of content !
A trully inspirational work, in front and behind the camera !
Thanks Rogue!
Proud to be Icelandic.. I have met Magnús and Jón Páll many times when I was a kid, even was a helper in one of the strong man shows. Those guys were a great inspiration for all of us kid´s = superstars... Viking Power :-)
Watching this again. Good for the soul. Reminds me to put in the work and get TOUGH. Thank you again for making this happen :)
This amazing documentary has inspired me to train lifting stones. The strongmen in this film are tremendous athletes and the culture of paying homage to their ancestors through lifting the stones is rather poetic. I’m only 100kg 178cm so watching them lift is like watching giants playing.
Wait, how doesn't this have millions of views? This is a great documentary.
ÁFRAM ÍSLAND! 🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸
So proud of my country 🇮🇸
Scenery is amazing. People are authentic. Great!
One of the best videos I’ve seen in quite some time, you can feel the passion and the love they have for their ancestors and what they continue to do.. the ending gave me chills..
Thanks for watching!
This is a crazy good documentary
These Rogue Documentaries are simply outstanding; the visuals, the music, the knowledge! Plus, it was good see the dedication to Terry Todd at the beginning, a real pioneer for the physical culture industry and the history of the iron game! You are greatly missed Terry!
That man who makes music on stones. This really hit me in the face. The sound but also the idea and perfection how he managed to build those. He should make an album if he hadnt done already. Amazin art.
He said he made it for Sigur Ros. Perhaps theuve done an album of it? Sounded like something i might have heard in some Einar Selvik music too.
Watching for the 6th time...my favorite strength documentary
Next goal: Fullsterkur.
You will ALWAYS feel better challenging yourself and doing difficult things! Pick up ANYTHING heavy safely and properly and show yourself you can do it! This is a great documentary! We need to regain the value of strength in all aspects! Thank you Rogue Fitness!
I love the shout out to Sigur Ros. What an amazing band/artist!
53:50. I love the names of the grandchildren. The Icelandic accent is so awesome and beautiful
what an incredibly emotive film.
it opens our eyes to the majesty of our European neighbour, and unveils the beautiful character of your amazing people, their dreams, ambitions, history, togetherness, it's truly a wonderful piece of filmwork.
a stellar film, with magical storytelling, which left me rather speechless.
good for you all who were involved.

Great story. I first read about Manhood stones of Scotland and Hussafell stone like a decade ago. There is something primal in this, something that inspires and pushes to do great things.
This shows everything I love about Iceland: Stark otherworldly beauty, deep connections to the past, most of all the most pleasant down-to-earth yet tough-as-nails people. Easily one of my top 3 documentaries.
Amazing short film inspired me I know have 8 stones from 87lbs to 210lbs in my back yard and lift twice a week this makes you very strong it has increased my regular lifts bench deadlift and squat
God, I miss living in Iceland. Rogue, what a masterpiece of a movie. Thank you so much!

Where did you move to, and why? Job opportunities?
@@ryancalhoun7456 Was studying at the time and had an opportunity to do a semester aboard. Was there nearly for 6 months and it truly, still, feels like a second home 😊. As for jobs, part-times was easy to get, but full-times depend on experience and education. I think it helped that I am Danish and quite a bit of the Icelanders speak Danish.
Edit: I lived just outside of Reykjavik
That’s pretty cool! My mother is from Danmark. I’ve been told that helps? To have at least one parent who’s a European citizen. I’ve been looking into moving to Iceland for a while now. I fell in love with the place ever since i visited, however its extremely difficult obviously. Anyways thanks for your story. Be safe out there Dane 🇩🇰🇮🇸.
@@ryancalhoun7456 Thanks for asking! It might help if you speak danish?
Otherwise, the local goverment is extremely helpfull with relocation, and most icelanders speak english quite well. I find a part-time job and place to live with a few quick facebook searches.
Good luck and hope it works out for you. Stay safe!
Magnus ver Magnusson. The Rich Froning of World's Strongest Man competitions as far as I'm concerned. He was my favorite to watch back in the day. This is a beautiful film. I'm so glad I watched it! I like my (entertainment) television shows but watching films like this are just super satisfying on a deeper level.
Much love to the Icelandic Vikings from all the Polynesian Warriors here in New Zealand. I love it. Awesome documentary.
This documentary gave me some clarity on life, made me believe in things again. This is probably my favourite documentary of all time and not only that it helped me in a bad time. From the bottom of my heart and as proud ancestor of these great people. Thank you. I wish I could say more than thank you.
And this film is exactly why l love Iceland and the people. Been there in 2015 and i will comming back.
Big fan of Annie Thorisdottir
The landscape shots are gorgeous. The whole film is just beautiful.
Indeed...Thank you Rogue. What a beautiful and inspiring film... You did a PHENOMENAL job.
I'm here because of WSM events. All the contestants who come from Iceland Jon Pall, Magnus, Jon Valgear(?), Boris, Torvi, and Hafthor, are all such smiling people when they competed. This movie shows the regular Icelander are the same. It must be a wonderful place to live to grow such pleasant people.
Love it. Better then ANY movie today.
Storytelling from one heart to another.
this was a great watch
I didn't expect it to be so serious and feature so much Icelandic culture, but man I am in awe at all of it
Iceland is a proud country, the viking spirit is strong and I hope it never changes
I have lost count on how many times I've watched this. Amazing!
Pure enjoyment watching this film. Seeing all the historic significance of strength, both physical and mental, in the Icelandic community is awesome to learn about. It's such a motivating story to learn about. Not to mention a beautiful country. Great job Rogue!
Thanks Nick!
And again Rogue make is miracle, wonderful movie about really strong people, and his country! Very motivational for me! Gratefully! Amazing Iceland and his people! Quality 8K - is unique for sporting movie!
I am Canadian with Scottish ancestry but I have so much respect for the Icelandic people and their culture. I hope to travel there one day and train.
Inspirational film...I salute Iceland and its proud heritage.
The storytelling, the cinematography, the characters, just amazing! Very well done!
Ein sehr berührender Film. Ich schaue ihn jetzt zum dritten mal und er bewegt, motiviert mich jedes mal.
Truly one of my favourite strength documentaries.
A great film about Iceland and the Icelanders and their Viking spirit.

That was amazing one of the best documentarys that I have ever seen amazing people thank you
One of my favorite documentaries & part of my heritage.
"Deyr fé, deyja frændr, deyr sjálfr it sama; en orðstírr deyr aldrigi, hveim er sér góðan getr." (Hávamál 76) Man, but them Vikings were as great at poetry and wisdom as they were at being MIGHTY men of their hands. Greatest men of all the ages, IMHO.
Beatiful, gorgeous, fantastic, inspiring. Just a few words of many that can be used to describe this masterpiece. Thank you, Rogue.
God bless Dr. Terry Todd. May he rest in peace.

Great little film. Rogue is making the best content like this now. CrossFit also used to have really good production but I guess those days are over.
Thanks a million Rogue for making this.
These films are great as always. Appreciate the 2.35 ratio! Iceland's still on the top of my list to visit and I'm always in amazement of what talent comes out of such a small and culturally rich country. Stone lifting...functional fitness at its purest.
