I met Fred "Rerun" Berry in Walmart in Albany back in 2000. He was a really nice man. I got an Autograph from him. I told him that my family and I never missed an episode. Of What's Happening and What's Happening Now. I really glad I met him before his passing. CONTINUE TO RIP😢 RERUN.

Fred Berry came to my highschool my senior year in 1995/96. At that point he was a minister. He spoke a positive message but since it was a public school he couldn't talk about the religious aspect of his message but was still a great motivational speech.

In addition, more screen time for the "Rabbit"....aka....Ray Vitte, and Ray the policemen (friend of the family) for one episode would have helped as well. Dee's character had a friend named Robin should have been included to.

I am James F Jr... First of all one of the comments . This person said, that Fred Berry... Thought he was worth more than he was. When you are on the Entertainment system industry or any field of employment. You have to dictate your worth. Do you think Denzel got where he is by lacking Self Worth. That is a Bold comment. I commend him for fighting for what he believed. The other claims by his wife or wives. His Abusive nature was uncalled for. However, it wasn't violence directed towards the Wives. He was Bitter with himself . He felt he should have been more than he was. I get that... I walked in similar shoes 👟. People don't just blurt out things to be heard. Think about a Situation, listen and observe, there are clues to how a person is feeling and Living in their actions... That is all I have to say. .God Bless You All.

These shows with predominant African American cast members during the 70s,80s were your typical stereotype shows written by, you probably guessed it JEWISH writers, they All became the Wealthiest by using African Americans, usually for a brief moment in short lived T.V. shows, The same applied during the 60s, when African Americans in music were abundant, from Aretha, the Drifters, the Shirelles, the Crystals and so many more, these artists earned peanuts compared to the songwriters of some of the Greatest Hits of that 1960s ERA.

Here's the thing: Fred was the breakout character in that show. When you think What's happening, the first character you think of is Rerun.
If you look at a show like Jersey Shore today which is garbage, the breakout character is Snooki. As talentless and useless as she is, she spoke up and got a raise as well as the cast also. So as far as I'm concerned, Fred had every right to speak up.
