I feel this video, I want to get better at art. I keep telling myself I will. I keep watching videos, I keep gathering references, but I hardly draw. I’m too busy learning, but not practicing or doing. This video kind of untangles the web of overthinking my process of tackling this goal and simplifies it greatly.
This is something I struggle myself. When I first discovered self-improvement I started reading every book I could find and not implementing anything. Later I got discouraged that I was reading so much and doing so little so I stopped reading for a whole year. Now I am starting to read again but the balance between reading and doing is very hard to establish. Great points!
Thank you so much for this helpful video. You knocked out all the confusions I had with with applying the knowledge I get from reading. From today I start my journey of applying the knowledge I gained since the past 9 to 10 months of reading. Thank you for this simple idea , I subscribed to your channel.
Found you over on OnePercentBetter. *I 100% agree with this video, and I think you and I are pretty similar.* I am more on the theory side because hello, that is why I started a UA-cam channel, and the information I share with everyone is what I have learned from those books. However, even though I enjoy the theory the most, I find that I feel lazy, and I feel like I am wasting my knowledge if I do not put that information into practice.
Interesting. Thank you for spreading your thoughts and suggestions. I was also kind of theortical person before but now i have transformed myself into practical person but still it lacks at some points. Now I'll try to implement and balance both. Thank you again :)
In High School and College. The basic rules of scheduling are used by students until they get out of school. Then life becomes hectic because it is harder to stick to your schedule than a prescribed schedule. In school someone tells you what to do. As an adult you make your schedule and YOU have the choice to do your schedule or " I don't feel like" tries to take over your life. Hey bro, i tried too many thing to improve selfhelp books. Your video really helped me to think about taking break and applying things i learned. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. . Can you make videos on selfhelp, like to improve your personal life, attracting same people that suit your life's goal, staying positive, etc..
glad you liked it! I'm currently doing a little more philosophy than self help because I think philosophy might very well be more valuable then the usual self help tips
In my opinion your mental struggle can be easilly solved. What about actually think a reason, why are you reading this ? If you have reason for reading the aplication then result from it. Honestly if you reading for example book about jellyfish and you are not a biologist specialized on ocean life it will be almost imposible to use the information (if you are not a chef whose looking for ways how to make jellyfish salad.). Last but not least may i ask you where are you from? Your accent is very interesting. :)
hey man i loved your video i was on theory side and not implementing what i learn i just have a question to ask for example - the 48 laws of power so i gathered a lot of information on it so should i practice 1 law at a time for 2-3 days or all laws togetheir implementing all kind of hazard i want your advise what should i do please help
Lmao if you're in the middle, if you lean neither to heavily on theory nor on practice then you're ahead of many. As for changing ones life around that's a little difficult without any context of your life
Oh finally! I'm 15 and I've been reading some books lately but I haven't been applying it. I have this thought that if I read and I don't apply, I'll be the same as a person who started reading in his 20's. So, thank you for this video. Got any book recommendations for teens?
I started reading at a similar age and I found tim ferris quite good. also ryan holidays books are an excellent foundation (the obstacle is the way, ego is the enemy) are quite good to start that journey or something like "turning pro" or "the artists journey". I also have a list of books linked in the video description somewhere.
hi benjamin, we see youtube's videos around the world, I'm from algeria, your video it's my daily thinking, nice work, but I hate to see a good video with a disrespectful words, I wish you do a better videos without this world's, I know you can .... thanks.
I learn music theory learn as much as I can about guitar 10hours everyday, and never get round to actually applying this knowledge to make music. How stupid of me!

Happy to hear that! Hope you'll get to practicing your art!
I’m right there with you! I’m working on actually drawing. I too watching more videos than ACTUALLLY drawing! 😂
Once you have the theory, and then apply it, you’ll not only know it but also understand and then apply it to different situations

Thanks for the kind words!
5:43 The point is, you really can't have it all. Just think about what it is you really want for yourself, and stick with it, moving forward.
In High School and College.

Who said you were aloud to be this accurate? Subscribed for sure 💯 great content

Totally agree with you..I am also more on theory side but always try to balance it out by taking action on what I learn :)
keep reading and applying my friend, it'll eventually pay off!
Since you are on the theory side, what is your favorite book for the genre? Mine is "Start With Why."
Great video
can we say this theory practice gap?
Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks for the support my man!
Which side are you on?
I'm in the middle of both what to do ??? How do I change my life around.

I am first. Notification gang.
Nice 👍👍
I learn music theory learn as much as I can about guitar 10hours everyday, and never get round to actually applying this knowledge to make music. How stupid of me!
I mean it does seem unrealistic with music instruments but with self help books for example its a common theme
Calling me out... I'm very guilty of this .read research and then do nothing 😭
so good Can you please use English. Caption this gonna so good ..i love it.
I might do it in the future but right now I'm really busy I'm sorry!
I find it too hard to balance this!!
you'll get the hang of it eventually!
@@PersonalPower thanks
