- This one is a dream come true. I've wanted this for over THIRTY years! I now own an actual Gibson Les Paul! This video is not sponsored. I bought this guitar with my own money (unfortunately!) Gibson did not give me a guitar to review, although if they want to, I won't refuse!
It's new guitar day, and lucky old me is unboxing a brand new Gibson Les Paul Tribute, in Satin Honeyburst! Let me show you how amazing this guitar truly is. Warning: I'm a beginner so don't expect a full technical review, but I will inform and entertain. Honest.

At the end of 2020 I was challenged to record a cover version of "Seven Nation Army" by the White Stripes on my guitar. The challenger said that if I recorded it then they would record themselves singing over it. This kick-started my 2022 drive to not only re-learn the guitar, but improve on my 'skills' from my 20's, finally conquer the instrument, and start the "Guitars Are Hard" UA-cam channel to share my experiences and knowledge with others.
Join me on my journey into the world of guitars. This will be a magic, mysterious, thrilling, sometimes infuriating, journey into learning, playing and recording guitar, and all things guitar related.
Think of me as your learning buddy, your 'pathfinder', a nostalgic reminder of your own guitar learning story, or primarily an entertaining novice on a journey of discovery. I won't take this too seriously. It's a hobby, not life and death. Let's have a laugh together.
I'm returning to playing guitar after a 20+ year absence, so I'm no virtuoso. (My fingers & brain don't work like they did in my teens / twenties!) I am in essence a beginner. Excuse the mistakes, poor technique, rambling, repetition, and most of all, please, please be encouraging!

What can I say about this? This is my dream guitar! (Apart from maybe a LP Standard?). What do you think of the video? What do you think of the guitar? Any questions? Please let me know in the comments!
Was the guitar hard?
Congrats man ,how is the neck profile ,there is not one available in my area to try out,is the neck profile more like a 60's slim taper or a 50"s chunky neck?
@@tonymediati8274 I heard that the profile "Rounded" is a medium between slim '60s and fat '50s neck.

It might be completely wrong. But, that's what I've heard.
@@Zoilu awesome,thanks👍
Thanks for sharing !!, great job !!!
One of the best reviews I've seen so far in terms of me being excited that there's finally an affordable GIBSON LP! Genuine reaction. Genuine playing.
Wow! I'm glad you liked it so much! It's a shame that the Tribute was replaced by the (inferior IMHO) Modern Lite. I was thinking of selling mine (cost of living crisis & I have a LP Standard now) but I've resisted 'cos it was my 1st Gibson, that 70's style maple neck and those 490 pick-up's. It's a bargain guitar used (pre-loved). It doesn't get played as much as is should, mainly 'cos my Epiphone LP Custom is always on a stand. I'm gonna change that! One note of caution: if it's really a LP Standard that you want - and the attention to detail here is less - than this WON'T scratch that itch.
Awesome brother! Love how genuine you are and how excited you are!
I just got this exact guitar in a trade and I’m loving it.
Oh my word, I was soooo excited! I plan to do a few videos with it soon. I should play it more.
I’ve been hearing it live and playing with one and they feel and sound great. For the price there’s no reason I can think of to get anything else.
You're spot on! It's just a case of looks, people really wanting a Standard (or above) and some people really hating the pick-ups (which I love). I love mine, even the matt finish. I can't believe that Gibson stopped making them, but I think they had a bit of an image / marketing problem. They're really good value 'pre-loved'. Having said all that, my 60's standard (which I NEVER play) is a much, much better guitar, but then just look at the price difference. I play my Fender Player Strat more than all of my Les Paul's combined, and I have FOUR LP's.
Very nice guitar! Love the finish. Wow!
Thank you. I really should play it more!
That’s a nice flame maple neck! Aloha….
It's criminal how little I play this amazing guitar. I think it's 'cos I have a Strat & a Gtetsch on stands. I'm a bad person...
I loved mine when I got it but the honeymoon wore off. It's a nice guitar but doesn't do for me what my Les Paul Classic or 80 Epiphone Genesis do. Probably time to sell. Really hope you are still enjoying yours.
I really never play it, mostly 'cos it's in it's bag & it's a pain to take it out. (BTW: never leave guitars in bags / cases. The finish out gases and decolours the metal). It might appear in a future video in the next few months though...
Got one of the last ones, discontinued, great axe😊😊
I really should play mine more!
I'm glad you're excited by having a new guitar, especially a Gibson but, it should be Mr Lester Paul, not Mr Lesley Paul. Continuing to watched rest of the video now 😁
Good point. Well made. I stand corrected. Thank you. Enjoy the rest of the clip.
