Vader is such a expanded on complex character you have to appreciate everyone who had a hand in expanding this character and the story in general it is truly a masterpiece.
A subject that I've been most curious about. While the likes of Vader and Dooku focus their efforts on mastery of the blade, and redefining their jedi teachings, this is something Darth Sidious held little to no respect for. Despite this, Palpatine's excessive use of Force abilities is chaotic in nature, and often hinders his other senses, essentially giving him 'tunnel vision' while directing Force Lightning onto Luke Skywalker. But with a dark sider who focuses their willpower and resolve on the blade, it allows for one to remain more composed, and more calculated during combat. That's what I particularly liked about Count Dooku in Attack of the Clones; while he had the ability of Force Lightning under his command, it's clear that his ruthless lightsaber discipline is what made him stand out from other villains in the films.
That's shat I love about Darth Vader he has all some of the villains characteristics Mauls Anger and Hatred Dookus Discipline and Control and Greivouss' mostly machine than man at that point
Palpatine always has the control/broad perspective when using the Dark side (Jedi could not sense him) and he easily dismantled the jedi counsel in Revenge of the Sith with precision. Palpatine is first a Sith then a fighter which is why he appears to be chaotic. Dooku was and will always be a duelist first, which is why he did not rely on the force as much. Vader is more of a mix of the two since you can see him freely using the force in duels but also being very precise with the lightsaber.
This explains neatly why Dooku and Vader were at the finest when using highly controlled aggression and rage. Not wild abandon to the dark side. Their calculation made them far more dangerous. It took Sidious, a being born OF the Dark Side to exceed that.
This is something I also agreed with from the 4:00 marker. Vader cursed the Force in Dark Lord: Rise of Darth Vader. It was while he was in the Jedi Temple I believe. Psychologically, he would seek that which is more reliable. Great video.
You know when i first started watching i was like "whoa this dude really knows the lightsaber forms like THAT?" now i feel almost there from watching lyour videos. Love this shit man.
Dooku’s dissection reminds me of his fights with Obi Wan and Anakin on Geonosis and over Coruscant: On Geonosis he effortlessly beat both but over Coruscant he had to use the Force on Obi Wan twice to beat him. The first which temporarily separated the two Jedi and the second at Palpatine’s command when he was meant to kill Kenobi but refused. If he faced Obi Wan alone by that point who relied on the Force for an impenetrable defense he wouldn’t have been able to defeat him and Obi Wan would end up winning if the Count did not flee. He also opened both of his fights with Kenobi and Yoda with Force lightning before relying completely on his lightsaber.
One of the hidden lessons here that the only reason Duku and Vader were so elite compared to others is because they were actually some of the most balanced in their understanding of the Force and value of lightsabers. Key word: balance. Balance is the ultimate the power.
I love how comic books have alternate realities to explore "what if" scenario's. Like I wonder how Anakin would have turned out if it had been Dooku who had been his mentor instead of Obiwan. Encouraging his relationship with Padme, teaching him both the light, and dark side. Anakin facing Obiwan without the emotions of friendship causing conflict within him when they dueled, and having been taught how to use the dark side.
People always shit on the Jedi, but Jedi is all about control. Sith is about embracing your passions. But whenever we hear about how strong the likes of Sidious and Vader are, they always have a mix of skill and control. This is actually quite hypocritical of the Sith to shit on the Jedi's philosophy, because if we look at it more carefully, the control that Jedis promote is in fact, the core aspect that made these Force Users, regardless of Light, Dark or any other sides as exceptionally powerful as they are.

@@ravenrise320 Sith draw upon the Force through their ambitions, desires and strong emotions. The control I was talking about wasn't about the Force, but rather themselves. In layman's terms Sith is about controling others. Dominance over others. Jedi is about self-control

Revan Maximized his potential and was the first Jedi to get all the knowledge from a master and went from master to master until he learned everything and gained many different insights about the force. Anakin never remotely had an inner drive like this but he definitely gained a portion of it after becoming a cyborg and did everything he could to maximize the potential he had left. Also worth noting that Vader does employ more force abilities depending on how seriously he needs to take the fight. At level 1 effort he's not fighting seriously if it's with one hand or even without a weapon at all. Around this level he will employ the Sith technique of dun moch to establish fear and mental dominance on the battlefield. At this stage, he's either toying with his opponent or killing them with a single stroke. He'll casually deflect blaster bolts with his hands, or force choke the life out of multiple enemies to end conflicts swiftly. Level 2 is where he wields his weapon with both hands, taking blade to blade combat more seriously. His movements become tighter and more controlled, defending his vulnerable armor components while delivering precise, crushing blows against his opponent. He'll use the force to enhance his physicality and speed to duel his opponent into submission. Level 3 is where he employs his mastery with the force seamlessly with his lightsaber forms, using a range of abilities from telekinesis to force charged lighsaber swings to dismantle his opponent from multiple angles. At this stage he pulls out every trick and tactic he knows to break through his opponent's defenses using his mechanical strength, raw force potential, and cunning he developed in his older years.
I always believed that a lightsaber is partly or wholly powered by the force (why only force users should wield a lightsaber), so using a lightsaber is using the force (shown when quigon used the lightsaber against the blastdoor)
Sidious and Maul are also master at Niman fighting style. What is Niman: ''Form VI made extensive use of the Force to hinder or manipulate opponents' movements.''
Haven’t watched the video yet but maybe he knew he would never be able to beat sidious in pure force ability so he knew he needed to find another path to overthrow his master.
I'm not a comic or EU nerd, so I have to say....Vader had to have been really damn pissed that all the alleged powers that Sidious enticed him with or possessed, he didn't teach him. Granted, much of that is due to writing prequel material after the originals and some can be written off as a limitation of his suit (ie, force lightning). He became a Sith apprentice and seemingly learned nothing new.
I assumed that at least part of it was the Force bubble most Force-users seem to have around themselves; the field that protects them frequently from telekinetic disarms, mind tricks, and Force chokes. Vader couldn't use Force lightning, which breached such shields, while other telekinetic tricks either might not work, or simply weren't direct enough. The lightsaber was armor-piercing, even though practically no one wore armor, and his skill was immense, but I feel like some of it was simply it worked, it worked immediately, and it showed his skill, where various Force powers were either less effective against the targets that deserved that level of effort, and reminded him of how much more powerful he could have been, but had lost.
If Anakin had Luke’s mentality before the start of the clone wars are he would have been so much more powerful than he is as during the clone wars.imagine a universe in which Anakin enjoyed and scrolled though Jedi text too learn the deeper mysteries of the force. Anakin was a warrior who payed little attention too the greater mysteries of the force unless they could serve him in the here and now if he had Luke’s dedication and studious nature when it came too the living force he would of been unstoppable
he put all of his force power behind his lightsaber usage, if i recall correct. He relied mostly on martial, vicious techniques meant for quick, precise kills and strikes.
This is great analysis. Vader and Dooku choice. Perfect. They're revolutionaries. Great. Power without control is meaningless. May the Force be with you.
I’m not an expert in Star Wars lore so here’s a question that I think others may be able to answer (and I hope I get answer from the guy who runs the channel too), what of Mace Windau (I hope I spelt his name correctly)??? Didn’t he use a style that is extreme compared to what is considered “regular” for Jedi as well??
personally one thing that has always bugged me somewhat greatly is how they have JEDI 7 primary forms but their is almost no lore on the forms specific to the ancient sith given they had been learning to fight for thousands of years before the jedi even existed yet pretty much all authors and such always just slap their fighting forms to be the same as the jedi instead of making their own cultural forms of combat with form 7 just being the only one that the jedi incorporated into their training a few examples i could think of perhaps existing would be a form specifically for making using of telekinesis such as with the lanvarok weapons that were one of the traditional weapon types of the sith and alternative form being for using lightsabers or similar weapon as well or given the sith often channeled the force into their weapons especially their alchemically forged swords and such forms specifically to train and make use of such skills and weapons being two examples of possible fighting forms that would've originated from the sith culture more so then just copy pasted from the jedi and the jedi based their forms more on traditional sword forms the sith from a warrior culture almost 100% force users created forms that melded traditional martial skills with the force more deeply then the jedi typically did or something like that just to add in more variation and uniquness over like i said copy pasted jedi fighting forms onto the ancient sith
I’m confused…Anakin wasn’t even in the area when Qui-Gon was struck down by Maul!!! And as he was flying the Star fighter he didn’t sense anything thru the force that they show that I remember! Please enlighten me?????
Sorry maybe I'm wrong but anakin wasn't in the room when Quigon got killed. He did see him fight him before he got on the ship before that. If that's what you meant.
Im of the theory that after his duel with Obi-Wan on Mustafar? Anakin/Vadars ability to use the Force had greatly diminished. Yes, he still had capability. But a lot less A-bility. Yes, he was still a "chosen" one. And had always had greater capability in the Force than most. Capability that could've become ever greater IF he'd remained a Jedi or even if he had went his own way, being neither Jedi nor Sith. But as Palpatines chief underling and tool? Palpatine was NEVER going to train Anakin to any great extent in using the Force. Because Palps knew that if he did? Anakin/Vader could and would destroy him utterly. And Palps also knew just how changeable and unpredictable Anakin/Vadars mind could be. He knew all to well because HE had used those qualities against Anakin to turn him to the Dark Side. So to Palps. Why give his favorite apprentice or tool the power and capability to revert back to his Jedi self and become even more powerful than Palpatine himself.
Question and idk if you made a video on this or not but the emperor made Vaders armor to make him weak against him yet in clone wars we seen Yoda absorb his lightning using the force and we seen mace reflect it back with Vader being one of the strongest force users and with access to holocrons wouldn’t he be able to counter the emperor to overthrow him?
Yoda used a force technique called Tutaminis which used to be more prevalent in the order but at the time of late republic era most Jedi did not know or use it as there were not many dark siders around using force lightning and I don't think Vader could use it anyway since both of his hands were robotic (I am not sure on this part?)
I would love to know what would happen if after a mission for the Emperor, slaughtering Jedi or what have you. Vader returns to Mustafar for some time in the bacta tank to clear his head. While he's hanging around limbless in the Force driving himself miserable with his private memories of Natalie Portman, a third party Sith sneaked into Castle Vader and adds real Bacta to the tank, instead of whatever the hell the Emperor provided which doesn't work but Vader seems to be addicted to. Swaps out his armour and cybernetic limbs for the very best quality manufactured version. All of which is designed specifically to target and strengthen where Vader is weak. The chest plate won't allow him to reach above shoulder? Replaced by something much more flexible and 10 times stronger. His lungs are scarred past repair by anyone, save a light side master like Yoda. He gets 3 brand-new cyber-organic lungs. Instead of the junk limbs for his left arm and both legs, he get replacements that at least matched the quality of his right arm. Instead of the wildly inconsistent aural implants plugged directly into his brain without filter, he gets a full aural sensor suite. His armour is now completely insulated to energy discharges, that can also trap and store such discharges and to be launched back at their creator by emitters in the hands. All in all, a 100% increase in speed, agility, strength and tactical ability with a complete reduction of all his weaknesses except his mental state. Which getting 1000% angry at Emperor Ballsa*k with take care of quite nicely!
Vader will always be Anakin deep down whether he accepts it or not 🤷🏾♂️ Pragmatic , forward thinking & would rather handle things physically then with hocus pocus tricks that’s all this is. One of Anakin’s biggest insecurities was constantly having to try to improve himself against others in life/Combat so Vader had that problem x10 especially after losing against Obi-Wan On Mustafar. #StarWarsExpandedUniverseFan ✅
nah. tulak had a hack where he grew stronger after he slew his foes if i remember correctly. his dark side boost was higher and he was armored. dooku could parry and counter for a while but tulak is also a vet. light slashes won’t do it and dismemberment will be difficult with tulak’s raw strength
Dooku was good but probably the most overrated duelist of all time,He got beat by Anakin Easily in episode 3,He needed palpatine to break Kenobis force wall for him,He lost to yoda,He lost to anakin plenty in the clone wars, relying on the force only,Yaddle who was worse than qui gon put up a good fight against him

personally one thing that has always bugged me somewhat greatly is how they have JEDI 7 primary forms but their is almost no lore on the forms specific to the ancient sith given they had been learning to fight for thousands of years before the jedi even existed yet pretty much all authors and such always just slap their fighting forms to be the same as the jedi instead of making their own cultural forms of combat with form 7 just being the only one that the jedi incorporated into their training a few examples i could think of perhaps existing would be
a form specifically for making using of telekinesis such as with the lanvarok weapons that were one of the traditional weapon types of the sith and alternative form being for using lightsabers or similar weapon as well
or given the sith often channeled the force into their weapons especially their alchemically forged swords and such forms specifically to train and make use of such skills and weapons
being two examples of possible fighting forms that would've originated from the sith culture more so then just copy pasted from the jedi and the jedi based their forms more on traditional sword forms the sith from a warrior culture almost 100% force users created forms that melded traditional martial skills with the force more deeply then the jedi typically did or something like that just to add in more variation and uniquness over like i said copy pasted jedi fighting forms onto the ancient sith
Let’s goooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!❤
Sidious may have been stronger, but Vader had a better saber record and I think he saw himself superior, one of the few things to hold on to.
I mean, as a jedi anakin was a huge lightsaber nerd so its only natural for him to still use a lightsaber even as Darth Vader
I love these video. You have such a beautiful way of telling these stories. 💪🏾🩵
If that's what you meant.
do we know malgus' saber style?
Wish we got dooku prime
Still he doesn't understand the importance of the high ground
What IF!? Dooku trained Anakin would be an intresting one?!

Another great video. Hope 2025 brings you happiness and wealth!
If he was tied to his lightsaber why did he keep on loosing it
In other words he was a brute, some might even say a thug or muscle head!
Interesting; now I will see the original trilogy differently
Dooku and Anakin were unique among the Sith AND the Jedi.
Revenge is not the Jedi way! I can destroy you with the Force alone. I prefer Mortal Kombat. It is more honorable this way.
Darth Vader will always be the greatest villain of all time in my opinion
One might say Vader was a invader...XD
👍👍👍
Anakin/Vader are handy with a lightsaber.
Vader will always be Anakin deep down whether he accepts it or not 🤷🏾♂️
Pragmatic , forward thinking & would rather handle things physically then with hocus pocus tricks that’s all this is.
One of Anakin’s biggest insecurities was constantly having to try to improve himself against others in life/Combat so Vader had that problem x10 especially after losing against Obi-Wan On Mustafar.

Could dooku defeat tulak horde?
nah. tulak had a hack where he grew stronger after he slew his foes if i remember correctly. his dark side boost was higher and he was armored. dooku could parry and counter for a while but tulak is also a vet. light slashes won’t do it and dismemberment will be difficult with tulak’s raw strength
Dooku was good but probably the most overrated duelist of all time,He got beat by Anakin Easily in episode 3,He needed palpatine to break Kenobis force wall for him,He lost to yoda,He lost to anakin plenty in the clone wars, relying on the force only,Yaddle who was worse than qui gon put up a good fight against him
He also lost to centers and savage while maul beat savage in seconds
Obi wan beat maul and savage but dooku lost to ventress and savage 😂
@ Dooku had declined by Ep 3 while Anakin just retooled his style and was peaking in strength. Let’s not recontexualize the Clone Wars. & ‘Lost to Yoda’ is not a knock. Worst summary ever of a master duelist ngl

😂😂😂😂😂
Day 724 of asking for a part 3 of what if anakin was trained by qui gon
I’m such a nerd
In short its more fun that way
