Both statements are true in this thread however what people do not know about Darth Vader is that he incorporates form three and form two in his lightsaber form and how he uses the form three blocks instead of going above his shoulders he moves his lightsaber in a circle which will allow him to immediately set up for two or five or from one or form six or seven when Anakin Skywalker applies himself it is amazing on the things he come up with

Well, even with soresu obi wan barely beat anakin despite the fact that anakin made several mistakes throughout the duel, he fought considerably well, hitting obi wan's defenses and forcing him to retreat, besides taking into account that in multiple moments, Anakin bypassed Obi Wan's defenses, kicking or even punching him, brushing aside Obi Wan's sword to inflict multiple blows, and not if Anakin was mad and unfocused, Obi Wa. had it easier to block and deflect the rain of blows

I want to see how he developed those skills and how made those certain changes through his breakdown, and his attempt at redemption.

I think it's not really mentioned but it's likely that Anakin's strong force ability was what made the giant mechanical suit work at all. He was able to leverage the cybernetics in a way that no one else would have been able to. So he had the strength of a powered robot designed to kill Jedi. He didn't have to be the fastest or best dualist. He just had to use his force ability to slow down an opponent long enough to cut through them with brute force.

Anyone who's ever had exposure to real combat will tell you outright that there is a considerable difference in the combat ability between someone who is fighting as a matter of course versus someone who is fighting with the bare intent to kill. Dominating a fight before it even starts by preventing the other party from reaching your level commitment to coming out on top is a considerable advantage.

In the Kenobi show, Obi-Wan flat-out defeats Vader and could easily have killed him. It's nonsensical that he would choose not to deliver a mercy killing and save the galaxy from the future atrocities that Vader will likely commit.

Well with all due respect, thats not saying much, the inquisitors are pretty inept and Sidious sits around and does politicking all day. To me Vader benefited immensely from the fact that all the Jedi in the era were slack with their lightsaber skills. Not saying he isn't great, just that its not exactly like he went up against some of the greatest duelists in galactic history as Vader. I have to disagree with this, while yes there were Padawans who escaped, there were also Jedi Masters. Some in the comics were blade masters amongst the order. The thing to keep in mind is that Vader's fighting style goes beyond physicality. His suit, his size, his approach, his reputation, all inspired fear in his opponents, preventing his Jedi opponents from centering themselves. Here was a massive, black monolith coming towards you inexorably, with inhuman strength in body and the Force. Often times, Vader was the one hunting down the big targets, while the Inquisitorius tracked down removers and small fry

Djem So relies on athletic ability, strength and durability of the one who uses this form. And Anakin was a perfect user; he was young, very athletic and had a strong Force connection, which is useful when boosting strength and speed. As an offensive technique, it was perfect for the Sith, since they rely on rage imbued offense. Plus Vader made numerous adjustments in his style, resulting in him probably being the best Djem so user ever. If his armor wasn't limiting his movements, I think prime Vader would be in top 5 duelists in the Entire Star Wars universe.

To get a sense of the style, we can refer to the weapon, and Vader's lightsaber is the most brutal design I've ever seen. I don't think any Jedi I've seen could wield that thing with even two hands. And Vader can, and does, wield that monster in one hand with the speed and precision necessary to deflect blasters. Imagine the power that monster lightsaber must put out; it could easily cut into a Star Destroyer hull. And this, I think, is the philosophy behind Vader's style as a duelist: decisive, overpowering heavy attacks that are designed to collapse enemies where they are strongest, through brute force, strength of will, and a retinue of force attacks designed to crush opponents, either directly with force chokes and force grips, or through the environment by propelling crushing objects towards the opponents.

I think we slowly see Darth Vader taking over (when we see the blue lights fade away from his face), which is reinforced when Vader says that he killed Anakin, not Obi Wan.
And that he (Darth Vader) wasn’t his failure (but maybe Anakin in a way was).
Anakin for sure was catious around Obi Wan, whereas Darth seemed more indifferent to him, like he was just another Jedi he had no attachments to.
This would explain why Obi wan says: Then my friend is truly dead, and Bye Darth, as opposed to bye Anakin.

@@flackjayden3873 If you mean how a blade retracts when turned off and emerges when turned on, then you are right. However, what Lazy is talking about is a completely separate scenario.
Vader's lightsaber is a dual-phase lightsaber, meaning that it utilizes 2 kyber crystals instead of 1 crystal like a standard lightsaber uses. The saber also has complex circuitry that allows for him to switch between which crystal is being used - allowing for the already ignited blade to alter its length (without turning it off) mid-duels. Basically, Vader can start a duel with his saber in phase 1 and having a shorter blade and then switch to phase 2 and gain more reach with the blade and possibly kill his confused opponent.
In essence, think of his lightsaber as being like a double sided lightsaber, but standard sized and with only one blade coming out of it.
If you want another example, Exar Kun's lightsaber is another multi-phase lightsaber, which had controls on it for altering the blade length from 0.5m (1 ft 7.9 in) to 1.5m (4 ft 11.1 in) - albeit his is a lot more complicated due to it also being able to change blade intensity and it was a double bladed lightsaber in a single bladed lightsaber's hilt.

Anakin knew he was in the wrong, but felt betrayed. A part of him still loves obi wan and he also wants to die for his mistakes. That is also the reason for his hated towards obi wan is that he won’t kill him.

I’m wondering did Obi-Wan ever truly tap into his full potential over the years. While he was extremely skilled and one of the best Jedi Masters ever in my opinion, on paper he never seemed like the most powerful as far as his connection to the force but he was extremely skilled and mastered has fighting style & that’s what got him out of a lot of tough situations but this fight with Vader seemed very different. He put the beat down on Vader which not many if any can say they have ever really landed a scratch on Vader. Obi wan went from literally running scared & barely able to save a little girl from falling off a building to being able to slam Darth Vader around like he was a rag doll. You can say what you want about Obi-Wan being a blindspot for Anakin and while that’s true Obi-wan is still beyond skilled & seemed to have tapped into the force like I’ve never seen. That was truly a badass moment. Obi-wan seemed to use Darth Vader’s fighting style against him & could have killed him for a second time & decided to spare his life once again. Darth Vader never really defeats his old master & I know that burned him up inside (no pun intended) until he came back to the light at the very end.

The scary thing about the way he fights he that’s he’s well versed in other forms enough to hold hold his own until he tires you out, where he then hammers you with his signature form, which is at that point almost literally defenseless when your energy is waning. If he started with that form at the very beginning of the fight, most opponents would be ready for that and it would be an unnecessary waste of energy. Now it’s effectiveness on Obi Wans style is interesting, cuz it’s almost like Kenobi tailor made it to directly counter Anakin’s strategy. Play along when impenetrable defense and goad the opponent into thinking you’re done, so when they strike harder as Anakin eventually will, you quickly strike back leaving them stunned. So far in current canon, there are only three of the army of individuals who’ve been able to counter Vader’s technique, that being Obi Wan, and Ashoka and Luke, both of whom literally just used Vader’s own style against him, especially Luke in Return of the Jedi.

Everybody forgets that /General Kenobi/ uses a mainly defensive form, form 3, often tiring out opponents and/or looking for openings. Kenobi also has more experience than most Jedi when it comes to fighting other force users. Darth Vader may be used to clapping Jedi who aren't confident against such an opponent, but Kenobi capitalizes on that to defeat Vader on at least two occasions. While Vader has an advantage of experience over other Jedi, Kenobi is more experienced in fighting combatants who are themselves experienced. Vader is essentially weak to Kenobi in the same way other Jedi are weak to Vader. Where other Jedi might be purely on the defensive against such a combatant, Kenobi is so used to fighting on the defensive that he is not overwhelmed by that task, allowing him enough clarity to find weaknesses, as fleeting as they may be, to use against Vader, such as brief moments to damage life support components. This is very similar, though not to the same extent, as Windu finding shatterpoints in his opponents.
Side note if you haven't read Shatterpoint stop reading this comment and go read it. One of the best books written for Star Wars.

It’s a unique style that embodies his efforts to restructure his style around the limits of his body.
In previous days his style was hyper aggressive and dexterous. Combining onrushing assault with high velocity approaches.
Building from a familiar strength based foundation his style emphasises quality of motion, absent the speed and mobility of the past his focus is on leveraging his strength into a balance of brute aggression and stoic defence with comparatively minimal strikes per second.
Every blow, parry and counter has to be as effective and strong as he can make it to compensate for his reduced mobility and striking speed.
To that effort the economy of motion afforded by Form 2 helps bridge the passivity of Form 3 with the brutality of Form 5.
Interestingly it’s almost in direct contrast to Grievous, an opponent he never fought yet held some similarities.
Where Vader was forced to refine the quality of his motion through his degraded speed, every strike was either precise or it was devastating.
Grievous instead ramped up on it. Every strike was dangerous but the danger really lay in how swiftly, dextrously and unexpectedly the next dozen attacks were in every second of engagement.
Where Vader was measured by necessity, Grievous fought unfettered by necessity.
Vader had the luxury (so to speak) of the Force to overwhelm and protect him, Grievous did not, forcing his enemy into utter defence to defend himself from his major disadvantage.
You could almost call it reckless, yet it was perhaps the only correct option in head-to-head confrontation.

Vader is clearly much more powerful than Obi Wan but styles make fights and Obi Wan just knows him inside out. I think they could have wrote the script a it better however. It's one thing Obi Wan being able to out fox Vader but here he kind of overpowered him in the end which was weird

Yeah, especially with this kind of force feat even though he wasn't able to use it at all a few days earlier, and this kind of lightsaber moves which he haven't used at all for 10 years, and which dont even fit the soresu form.

@@vinnizle Obi Wan tapped into his passion after getting the rocks thrown onto him. He thought of Leia and realized what he has to fight for. Using his aggressive feelings gave him a power boost. He tapped into passion with his initial fight with Maul. Obi Wan understands the allure of the dark side but has an unmatched strength of character to walk away from it.

Darth Vader's fighting style is basically the style I would want to train in. I feel with both substyles of form 5, it covers you for most scenarios. I'm also a fan of form 3, but obviously the downside to it is, you're waiting for your opponent to make a mistake. I also really like form 2. But I don't like that it only works in a 1 on 1 lightsaber due.

    • @umitencho
      @umitencho Рік тому +2

Form 2 2ould teach you similarly to Form 3 to not waste energy plus teaching you precision and focus. Start with form 2 to learn how to truly handle a blade and then add in form 3. Once you have those two down, form 5 will be much easier to learn as it was form by form 3 masters incorporating aspects of form 2.

    • @Liam1991
      @Liam1991 Рік тому +1

@@umitencho good point. For me, I feel form 5 covers most of your scenarios. If I had to choose between form 2 and form 3, I would choose form 3 to start with. Simply because it deals with blasters and multiple opponents. I think starting with form 2 is a bad idea, due to it only being good for 1 on 1 fights. And you would be more likely having to deal with blasters. I'm kind of in the middle using form 3 or form 5 and as the first style to begin with. But form 2 I would place as my third style, due to its limitations to 1 on 1 combat.

As we saw in the Obi-Wan show (before they did a dumb scene where vader's skill was that of a youngling) Obi-Wan was barely able to do anything to him.
Obi-wan completely focused on Vader would definitely put Vader into a actually trying mode since the two were renowned duelists, but the advantage Obi-Wan had in this fight was that he didn't doubt himself, He knew that the insults from Vaders style was just a trick and effort to lower his defense but he stood firm and believed himself.
