Hi George, I definitely support what you say, but in a month you will eventually get used to it. I bought, for the first time, an iphone 13 and was so annoyed because it is small, but as the time goes by my brain is getting used to it. It's all about time.
I've had 3 Notes/Ultras and never got used to the build, couldnt use either one for over 2 months.
People dont want a small phone, even Apple couldnt sell a small phone
I don't think it's possible to make a smaller Ultra because of how many components are inside the phone. A 5000 mAh battery, the S Pen, the huge camera setup, Wireless charging, and so on. Even if they make that, it's going to have less battery life and not many people like small phones, Apple learned that the hard way.
The S24+ is already available with a 4900 mAh battery, one less camera, no S pen, etc. and it is a great value.
Apple is able make a pro because the pro doesn't have a S Pen or a big battery, etc. Hence, Apple is also going to increase the size of their iphones, according to rumours.
The S24 Plus should have had the same specs (Cameras) as the Ultra. Basically an Ultra with the build and design of the S24 Plus and no spen.

The Plus is headed into becoming sort of what the S21 Ultra was before the Ultra lineup became just the Note phone. The 1440p panel is a sign of that, plus the 6.7" screen size. Also, the 4,900mah battery helps with that as well. So they might be turning that phone next year into something more than just the bigger version of the base model, and soon more of a smaller version of the top end phone.
I love so many things about the S24 Ultra, but ended up returning it twice because it is just impossible to use one handed. And I mean even trying to watch a video.

primarily because Apple have done such an amazing marketing job in presenting it as a status symbol, and fair play to them. I am an Apple computer user but a Samsung phone guy with Sony Blutooth headphones and a Chinese companies IEM user, so I am all over the "map". Apple products are extremely well made and you pay the price for it, fair enough. Because of their amazing marketing and build they keep their value for longer. All platforms have their own pros and cons, we know that the quality of item doesn't always represent sales, there are plenty of cars for example that sell considerably more than the objectively "better" cars that cost much more. Market dynamics and purchasing decisions are a complicated thing, but the bottom line is, if you get the marketing right you are most of the way there.

I have an s23u and I agree its just gotten to big, they need to round the corners like the old s10 or the s21 the screen is near the same size of my iPhone 14 pro max but the shape of my iPhone makes it waaaay easier to hold the Samsungs shape is its problem they need to stop boxing the sides go back to curvy like the old notes and galaxy and be Samsung not apple I like the note design but no one asked them to box the corners like the iPhone Samsung needs to work on the ergonomics of their design and start being Samsung again oh and I like the old always on display better too if I wanted an iPhone id buy an iPhone... rant over

Nobody wants a small phone. Sony stopped making their compact and with for a more narrow aspect ratio.
Samsung tried their own Compact series which was called the Alpha. It was a really cool phone, but no one bought it.

They could have but they gimped the S24 by giving it 8GB of RAM (and gimped the S24 Ultra by only giving it 12GB, it should have 16GB)
