Regarding the logic as to why Grey's King survived a nuclear explosion, I'm pretty sure this is the reason. So as can be seen, there are 2 explosions. In most cases (e.g. For orange at around 44:00), the first explosion reduces the HP of the castle to the point where the King gets ejected. The second explosion then kills the king and the castle. However in case of Grey's stronger castle, the King did not get ejected by the first explosion. Thus the second explosion only killed the castle and ejected the King. Like any other case, destroying the castle doesn't destroy the garrisoned units, it only ejects them.
59:22 Funniest moment! Yellow chasing grey's king. Grey trying to figure where to escape. And just at that moment a nuke going there for a second and moving along, what a game!
On a relevant note, I feel that the nukes are pointless for targeting units or kings, but make excellent large scale eco destruction. Best to let units deal with the king-or drop it in your own base mid fight-and just focus on crippling their ability to pursue the war by destroying trees, buildings, and any villagers they can't grab. Which makes sense to real life too, a nuke is rarely used to crush armies, but rather deny an opponent resources and infrastructure, even modern much cleaner nukes(So a lot less fallout/waste) focus on destroying their ability to maintain a war effort rather than just outright winning the war.
Not entirely pointless for killing kings (with orange dying as an example), but yeah mostly for decimating eco. With nuke + treason + land units surrounding the base would probably kill a king.
@@quando5862 A fair amount of setup to enact a coup de gras basically by sieging them out. Or pure luck that they dont notice. However, I still believe that destroying huge swaths of their eco would be the most effective method-while not an instant win, it can quite potentially set them back enough to press a military advantage.
Agreed. That's how I would do it. Unless you have enough nukes to drop several all around an enemy king, they're better used to kill eco or production buildings then following them up with your army to kill their units. In reverse, it's a good idea to spread out your own eco as much as possible, especially late game. Had I been grey, once it was down to 3 or 4, I would have used all those resources I saved and built several smaller bases around the empty areas of the map with some towers and castles in between to transfer the king into.
Generally speaking the map maker has made collecting from a specific animal(in this case a goat) at near 0(idk if you can set it to 0). So it would go off before a villager could ever get 1 food off of it to quicken it.

What did I just saw?! Grey couldn't save his nuke from dead purple's army, Grey couldn't kill blue's king with nuke and his army, and Grey had the most resources. But after he lost his remaining army did more than he did.
I think Grey's King survived because the nuke hits twice so it can kill garrisoned units, but the castle survive the first hit so the 2nd hit destroyed it allowing the king to get ungarrisoned safely.

Had an idea for a fun custom map/mode. Collosium battles. Similar to the Overseer mode in set up. On a 8 player map, Regicide, then you set up a large multi walled in area in the center which will act as the battle arena. 1 Player acts as the host of the arena, the other 7 are competitors. Everyone allies the host and sends their kings into a castle controlled by the host. Then at certain intervals of time the host will call out for 2 competitors to bring an army with certain themes or conditions to fight. The winner of these fights gets a load of resources and the loser has their king killed. Then that keeps on happening after certain time periods until we have an arena champion.
I just thought of a cool community game concept. Remember the Juggernaut game mode from earlier call of Duty games? Why not bring that here? 1 person vs several in a team, but the teamed players can only go to Feudal age... Or Castle if the team is smaller.
