Every manufacturer should make their wireless headsets works on all platforms from now on. It's ridiculous to have to buy multiple headsets if you own more than one console. The dongle with a switch should become the industry standard
That’s Microsoft’s fault.
@@gttrmgc3284 ...of course it is but they shouldn't be like that. They are missing the opportunity to get some great headsets with their stupid proprietary wireless protocol. Same goes for the wireless controllers where all 3rd party ones are wired.
Agreed
I o jury n
Damn. Apparently the black one doesn’t work with Xbox….
Can't wait for 700 max review 😍
Ive had my steath 600 gen 2 since the release, and they're still working amazing. I use them every day for gaming. Cushions are still in great condition. Ear swivels and headband are still comfortable. Still feels new. Take care of your products and they'll last for years. 😉
Do you have a problem with your mic picking up a lot of back ground noise? Also what version do you have?
@@VENOM99099 i have the ps4 version. I did have a small issue with background noise. Depending on what you play, there could be an audio settings adjustment you can back in the game to reduce background noise being picked up. I play Call of Duty, if you go to the in game audio settings, i believe its called "mic threshold volume."
I don’t know how to talk through them ?
i’ve had mine for a couple months and the slider snapped randomly what do i do
@@VENOM99099 did you ever get this straighten out? Just got mine and it's driving me nuts. Picks up sounds in the other room -_-
Had this headset for awhile. Had a few issues and the main one being the mic no longer working like it should. Finally got a new headset and just wanna say thanks technee. Been watching you while deciding for about a month now. Definitely the best reviewer I have watched
With a 10% welcome discount i have just snagged a pair of the 600p gen 2 max for £72 including delivery. I bought direct from turtle beach based on a very high 4.8 customer service rating on trust pilot. Thanks for the review.
The stealth 600 gen 2 is the first headset I bought for my PlayStation5. I have never been so dissatisfied/ disappointed in a electronic product as I was this device. To be real it was actually a blessing in disguise though because that hunt I started once I returned the said headset a freaking frenzy of buys and tests ended with like 11 headsets bought, tested and returned. Ended up with a set of audeze penrose (mains)because of this guy right here and also as back ups I have a 7P+. This guy created my love of headsets and I did not see it coming one single bit lol.
Dude I ended up getting Penrose with the wicked cushion replacement because of Techne also haha Headset bros
@@MichaelMariscal dude I’ve talked to you before in some comment sections! I think on a separate penrose video though lol. Do you play fps games? I’ve got a fairly solid all the way around eq setting for those type of games but it still really pronounces the explosions and fun, immersive stuff like that. love talking to other people that use the same equipment because we can kinda fine tune it out together and get the best performance. My little 2.7 thousand population town in Tennessee would think im speaking gibberish if I said something about a “penrose” to them.😂 but I’m posting a couple eq settings for the penrose and steelseries 7P+ if you are interested!
@@djm24ablei am interrested in your eq settings for 7p for game warzone to hear better Footsteps maybe you can Show me a pic of your eq settings
@@killerbabe1890 absolutely I can it’s on my youtube page, the most recent eq I made on there for them
Is a little quite but still very good if your in a quite environment. But for cod it would probably be a little to quite. I usually main apex legends which has a little louder footstep sounds to me. I’m fixing to post my updated set here in just a minute long as everything goes to plan in the next ten minutes fixing to start up my engine app now.
@@killerbabe1890 actually you got somewhere I can send it to might be a second before I post on UA-cam.
I have owned many versions of Turtle Beach headsets over many years of gaming. After medium length time owned, every model ended up in the trash. Most had broken headbands, some of which had been replaced under warranty. The last two I owned, Stealth 600 & 700, both started creeking so loud around the pivot points, it completely ruined the immersion of the game and made it impossible to chat. I tried every lubrication option available to eliminate the loud noise, to no avail. I will never trust Turtle Beach again. Go with either Steele series or Astro, both of which I have used long term with no issues.
exactly, i just bought the Logitech G Pro X and its the one of the best gaming headsets out there
@@mitchellgoldstein1573 Steelseries is alright but their 40mm drivers is very long in the tooth and just plain ancient compared to everyone else that have 50mm drivers. Yes the GPro X is great
I had the same issue. Hence why I now look for headphones with metal forks for longer durability
Astro A50's are the headset to beat, they have the 3D for haptic feedback on ps5 and the command centre very easy to use plus I have the Steele series 7+ they are really good but the Astro's are brilliant sound quality and a nice 3 preset for your fav games, yeah well happy with both headsets and comfortable is important too
@@johnjames7332 driver size doesnt matter
I jusr got these yesterday refurbished from GameStop for 65 plus warranty right at 80 love it. I have some a20 but they are PlayStation version so this was the best budget option for anyone looking. Dope headset
i recently got one of these as a birthday gift, but was very disappointed in its cheap "plastic" feel, not great (too tight) comfort, lack of noise canceling, inability to control the volume from the PC controls, and very bad "muddled" microphone pick up sound. It did have great battery life though. I returned it after a few days and went back to my old, beat up Logitech headset (that can't hold a charge for more than an hour) for now - which was a big step up. I won't be looking at Turtle Beach again after that experience!
A shame we can’t adjust game audio/chat audio on PS5. Why it’s relegated to party chat is beyond me.
Great review, I honestly did not like this headset when I purchased it. The sound was great no complaints there. The quality of materials was solid. However The Microphone was just too sensitive even with adjusting the mic settings on console and in game, too much background noise and the audio was very Spiky and Sharp
I do agree with you there sadly the microphone is just sensitive to background noise
i like them . had for 6 months ,going great
I'm using the turtle beach stealth 700 G2 on with my PlayStation 5 and they are amazing!
I love this headset. Best headset I ever owned. But mind you I'm not spending like hundreds and hundreds of dollars and I'm an amateur gamer. So for me in the price range that for me is the best I've ever owned. Just clarifying for those that own very expensive headsets
Is it too sensitive for you? Does it pick up background noise?
Great review! Is there a difference in sound between these and the 600 gen 2? Is there deeper bass or is it loud? Did you notice any different in its sound profile?
As much as I liked the Stealth 600 Gen 2 Max, mine had an annoying creaking noise coming from the plastic outside of the right earcup, right where the turtle beach logo is. When I talked or moved any at all it would pop constantly. I tried to ignore it, but it just became too annoying to use. Too me it just felt cheap. Returned.
Just picked these up for my ps5 at walmart for 80 on clearance hyped
First wireless headset I bought. Bought the pink version today, I play pc and they connected perfectly. Mic quality is alright (you get what you pay for) and ear cushioning is decent
I don't get audio on my PC
Could you buy another dongle if you want to keep one in your Playstation and one in your Xbox? Would it work?
what is the main difference between this and the 700 gen max?
The earpads are different and a few other things. All I can think of is the earpads tho
@@NoCommentaryLife Maybe the bluetooth option?
@@hybridtheory1985 Yeah that as well.
Bluetooth 5.0, ear cushions are different which seem more comfortable on the 700, slightly less battery life on the 700s and more expensive $199 MSRP
700 has bluetooth, upgraded earpads, lower battery life (40 hours vs 48+ on the 600), and an all metal headband support
I went for the Corsair HS75 XB instead of this as the non Max version and i made a good choice.
just bought this for myself with an awesome black Friday deal for 85.00 and I'm super excited to try it out. I love the fact I will be able to hear myself trough the mic and into the headset so I know if I'm being to loud!
How is the headset ? I might buy it aswell
@@Raed-rj9np buy them cuz they are good and sound good and it gets loud. I have R.I.G headphone ps for backup but these are worth the money.
Just got them. One thing I immediately noticed is how sensitive the mic is. It picks up everything, which is good, meaning you won't have to scream for otgers to hear you, but on the flip side, it will pick up background noise, like your controller, especially when you're not talking.
Just discovered this guy and i love him
Mine are actually set to come in today. Looking forward to it.
Don't they release next month?
Not if I have mine already
I wish you made this video like a month ago 😅 I went through a ton of headsets before landing on the A40s and A50s. I still have my Stealth 700 G2s but the clamping force is noticeable now that I use the Astros.
I tried these out last night and like them as I got them on sale for $99. The battery life is great though I hope I don't lose the dongle for it. I can use these with my PS3 which is nice and PS4 and Series S/Switch.
My favorite tech reviewer. Can’t wait to watch this.
thank you so much
I used to have a pretty regular wireless pair then they broke bc little brothers but I didn’t get a new one for awhile I just got these and my god I forget how important audio is I’ve never felt more immersed playing Spider-Man swinging low glad I got these
How do you use the signature sound? I pressed the mode button but it just cycles through all the options. Can i just turn MODE off?
Impressive microphone for a wireless headset
right, so good
👏🏻👏🏽👏🏿Great video Techne👏🏿👏🏽👏🏻 I’m pumped that Turtle Beach is now putting the Xbox/USB toggle on the dongle. That’s the reason I recommend the Arctis 7X to so many people. I’m hoping the TB 700s will have Bluetooth
They do.
thanks man
Unfortunately the 7x is not for sale anymore. Can't buy them anywhere atm
@@darrenjk5438 I know. They are still selling the 7Ps. I don’t understand why they black listed the 7X
@@darrenjk5438 they aren't blacklisted....just out of stock. I received an email from Steelseries on Friday that they were available for sale again. I ordered myself another pair
Great video, Techne! Would you recommend these over the Razer Blackshark V2 Pros at $120?
Please answer back doesn't the Xbox version of these have Xbox connectivity? so why does it come with a dongle? I'm so confused , my turtle beach stealth gen 1 connected with no dongle
Works fine on Ps5 and XBXSX ???
How about this scenario I'm curious about and not sure if that would work this way. Let's say I've got this headset with two usb receivers. This headset is synchronized with both of them. One adapter has slider set to xbox mode and it is connected to xbox and the second adapter has slider set to usb mode and is connected to playstation. Once I turn on my xbox, it automatically connects to this adapter (second one in playstation is powered off) and then I shut down xbox and power on playstation with second adapter. Does it automatically connects to the second receiver plugged to playstation (first one from xbox is powered off)? I don't want to replug one adapter to either one console or the other, I just need to work it on whatever console I turn on.
How much softer are the ear cushions compared to the standard 600 gen 2? I found them really rough and hard on the ear.
much softer. the originals were a bit rough
4:02 I am using it on PC and it works, will check with my ps5 as well.
I'm looking at getting these, my question is that I'm deaf in my right ear so I relie on my left. Is it loud enough?
I need a headset that’s comfortable to my ears for long hours of gaming
Thanks for this very detailed review!👍🏾 I love my 700 Gen 2 Max for PS4 and PS5 and I just got a Xbox Series S a couple weeks ago.
Since I haven’t had an Xbox since the very 1st one, the only headset I have that can work with my Series S are my Astro A10’s. Nice booming sound but they are wired and I really want to have freedom and mobility.
Saw these are on sale so I might just pull the trigger on these. Too bad my Gen 2 700s are only for PS4/PS5 and my Switch lite via Bluetooth. I tried to connect them to my Series S but it did not recognize them since the dongle only has PS4/5 and PC options and Series S doesn’t support Bluetooth😢
How do these virtual surround headsets that use windows sonic or Dolby atmos perform compared to older true 5.1 surround sound headsets. I have a pair of stealth 500x and audio is great, but they don’t work with series x without optical port.
Are the ear size bigger or smaller then the Astro A20s? Which ever has bigger ear dimensions is the one i would have to buy.
I ordered the stealth 600 gen 2 max in black and sold the previous normal 600 gen 2 for it, accept of battery life i was wondering is the sound Quality also improved over the first gen 2? Or is it just the battery life and multiplatform support that's improved..?
I’m a little confused about this and can’t seem to find an answer anywhere. Do you NEED to use the dongle on Xbox?
Yes with this one you need the dongle for xbox, with Stealth 700 MAX you dont need the dongle for xbox.
Why does it have a dongle if it uses Xbox connectivity? My stealth 600 gen 1 for my Xbox one X project scorpio had no dongle. Someone please explain and do I need the dongle to connect stealth 600 gen2 (non max) to my series S
Bottom line do I need the dongle for my Xbox series S with either the 600 gen 2 both non max and max?!
Corsair HS80 or Turtle Beach Stealth 600/700 Gen 2 Max??
HS80 if youre not on Xbox. The TB has more features but the HS80s build quality is much better
@@johnjames7332 and the mic? Its for PS4 and PS5, I think I'll use it in Lives.
@@JuanDevill the HS80 is better, pretty much class leading mic on a headset however the TB mics are also really good
Thanks for the review. It would help if you did more microphone testing and tried out all the controls and features of the headset on a PC and Xbox.
more mic testing how?
@@TheTechne First off, thanks a lot for your always great reviews, I really enjoy them all and has helped me make lots of buying decisions.
What I meant was mostly a bit more details on the dials and how they work with Xbox and PC and whether or not that affects the mic. You mentioned there are 2 dials, 1 for volume and 1 for chat balance but it only works on Xbox. So what happens to it on PC and does it have any effect on the mic? Personally, I'm still holding out on a wireless headset until I can somehow find one that has a great mic and does game/chat balance for PC. Most wireless headsets lack 1 thing and offer the others. I was happy that this had it but it wasn't too clear what happens to it on PC.
Hey techne you already had one that work across every platform and is the penrose x from audeze it is the same as this but with better sound.
Pretty sure the shape is meant to allow glasses to still tuck behind the ear without pushing on them too much
So, my dongle says ps/pc but my brother said it works with Xbox, does it really?
Techne - are you still using the Penrose mainly? If so - how do these compare?
I would also like to know about it. Also wondering if the 3D Audio support makes it stand out.
@@alexgmrs 3D Audio works on all headsets.
Can someone please tell me do these work with my PS5 and Xbox
I can’t believe they used a plastic slider in the headband again. My son broke 2 TB Stealth Gen 2 headsets on that plastic slider. It’s a huge weak point.
I broke my stealth 600x years ago but I used a wood veneer that has glue on one side to fix this problem. It comes in a roll like tape. Just cut to dimensions with scissors, use the hot tip of a glue gun, press on the wood side and it will bond to the plastic. Best way to fix a snapped headband.
Yo Techne love your vids btw you can use the penrose x dongle on the Ps5 too , thats why i bought them.
Do you need the dongle for series x? I thought it had Bluetooth for Xbox?
Hey there i bought the PlayStation version but I want to know if it would work on Xbox too
Do you think the sound quality is better with the USB dongle compared to the 600 version that is Bluetooth connection only?
I have 2 pairs of the Stealth 600 for years and they will not connect to my steamdeck. I hate the though have having to buy another headset
Would you recommend this or the cloud 2 wireless?
this
The sound direction doesn’t work on Xbox just PlayStation and pc
Hello Techne. Great video as always!
I was wondering what’s the best headset in the market for the xbox series x. I am exclusively an fps/shooter player, so hearing footsteps clearly/loudly and being able to best discern enemy positions precisely and as far away as possible is the biggest goal. I don’t care about price, wireless, Bluetooth connectivity, comfort, battery life or anything else. For these criteria please give me the best headset below and above 400$. Many thanks!
if you dont mind running wired & using a dac/amp id recommend going a route like mine or similar to. which is the hifiman deva pro’s or you can also look into sennheiser hd560s, & other “audiophile” headsets that you can run wired. i personally love the openness sound & staging of open-back headphones but if you need something that blocks out sound and is more dedicated to your system then audeze penrose x
Just get either the Drop+Sennheiser PC38X or the Epos H6 Pro open version. Trust me you will hear everything and hear it early enough to get the jump on enemies
@@clawson32104 ive also tried both of these options. if you can tolerate the clamping force i felt the pc38x was a bit better in sound awareness but the h6 pro open was easily one of the most comfy sets and still really good but neither as good as the hifiman, but will get the job done
LETS GO!! Play Xbox or PC! DONGLE HYPE! Turtle Beach is underrated. If it’s good enough for the 2 time it’s probably good enough for most.
on my way
Man that stretch test was so wide I was fkn nervous. Definitely not gonna do that mine 😅
Anybody knows where can i purchase another transmitter for Playstation? I lost mines 😢
Does they support 3D Sound for ps5?
Dose it has to be max one for you to use as USB
but is it plagued with the same shenanigans as the 700 max?
Hey all, I'm looking for an all-around headset with high comfort! I want to use it for gaming and to listen to music. Wirereless has my preference, but wired works as well. Anybody got tips?
Did you tried to pair an old 600 to the 600 max dungle?
I have that in teal color copped it for 109
Yeah I tried them and am returning them. Sound is tinny and I have all sort of connectivity issues. Tried to play around with the EQ, but there is an unpleasant, piercing quality to the sound. The app could not update the firmware, it just broke. Not recommended for this price.
I'm here to comment because of the fact that the link that it sends you in the description are the version 700
And not the 600 so hopefully he changes that (by the way this is only for the US since the UK has the correct ones)
On the fence about getting these. Still rocking my 8 year old Turtle Beaches when I got my original Xbox One. Now I have my series X and not sure what to buy to upgrade. They are $99 now
hey man , what headset are you talking about that was 8 years old? i’m in this current situation
Does this wirelessly work on an xbox one
It’s not it chief..
I’ve had this as my first pair of more premium quality headphones.
It’s lacks in a lot of areas from sounds crispness to overheating.
For £80 - it’s over priced, headphones 100% half the price for better quality.
The actual built of it in terms of strength, I’d give it a positive.. it can survive a throw or two lol
And for anyone wearing glasses it’s no issues.
But overall, not worth the price at all.
Would highly recommend saving your p’s for better quality sound or just buy cheaper headphones that’ll do the exact same job
Could you stream on Streamlabs with these headsets
Is the "superhuman hearing mode" really that good for hearing steps in like call of duty?
no
I think all companies should start doing this
100%
Hey guys I just got my headset and the volume adjustment doesn’t work I’m trying to turn it down because it’s blasting my ears but it doesn’t adjust when even I’m turning the wheel completely down. I’m on the new Xbox as well and I can’t adjust it.
I had this exact same issue with my last 2 pairs, volume wheels just stopped working as intended… had to turn up and down 5-6 times to get full volume!! Sometimes it would get stuck in max volume and it just wouldn’t turn it down even if I turned them all the way down, very annoying…. Did you manage to sort yours eventually?
Can you please make a review on the Redragon Zeus-X headset ?!!
What's the best headset for ps5?
Steelseries Arctis 7x and Penrose X support all the platforms as well.
two great ones there
Good luck finding a new Arctis 7x. They have all but disappeared from everywhere
@@clawson32104 exactly! Wanted to get a pair and its gone
@@darrenjk5438 just FYI but Steelseries has them in stock. I signed up for email notification and they sent one late last night
Will this work with Ipads?
I have big hair they broke at the plastic adjustment band ob the number notch 😢
I think the mic sounds great I picked this headset up for 95$ I'm happy with it
Is it still working good because i’ve seen a bunch of people saying it develops random issues over time, so i’m trying to figure out if I should get one lol
Is it worth to upgrade soundwise if you have the gen 2 already?
If it was me, And If I had the warranty I would probably upgrade also depending on how long who have had them.

Noise cancelation ?
How do I get the mic to work?
Does this have a mic
Just got this head set. Everyone is complaining they can hear my background noise extremly loud.
I tried downloading app but only has options for stealth 700 ?????
Did you ever solved this? I just got my and have yet to test it out in a party chat. But judging from the mic monitoring, the mic does indeed seem extremely sensitive and so picks up quite some background noise when I'm quite.
@Revird Kcalb no...
However, my friends have turned down me on the party chat. However the sound quality for is top quality 👌
@@lukephillips1769 I really wanted to like these but the background noises being picked up from the next room is just too much. I was hoping someone had a setting I didn't realize was not on like noise canceling or something .
