Pretty sure the forthcoming Panasonic full-frame will be the camera of your dreams. They do flippy screen, they do ibis, they do dual card slots, they do great ergos...and they do great video. Interesting to see how they will fuck it up!

My god you are so damn right! Just like you I have been banging my head against the wall of cameras for some years! Yet it would be sooo simple! Even as a regular film maker (no vlogs), I would appreciate not having to haul lights, tripods, rails, steadycams, what have ya, hell not even gimbals! Just a good IBIS would do, I have a pretty steady hand!
Super low light capability is OK, but not necessary, as long as I can see something, I mean if it is night, it should be dark and not look like a damn daylight, right? (talking to Sony A7Sii).
Flip-out screen is a must for anyone, not just vloggers, I want to be able to frame each shot from different angles, without breaking my neck. Fast auto-focus, yeah, I cannot afford a focus puller yet! As a filmmaker I want to concentrate on capturing my ideas into view-able pixel magic and nothing else!
1080p suffices, I do not want to spend months rendering, then go out and buy another shitload of hard drives, I want to finish my movie and work on the next idea!
Having said all that, I almost thought the new Sony A7iii was it, but when I look at the prices of their lens, my bank account starts to cry. I would love to be able to use vintage lens, do weird stuff.
Well, seems like we will get a visit from some alien civilization before the camera manufacturers will give us what we want!

Your camera is great. Dual SD RAID. Dual mini jack audio inputs (although I guess xlr to mini adapter will do it for my second mic input). 6" 4K display for sure why not. People who need evf can buy an optional external one that docks perhaps on top camera smart shoe port or something. I'd like Wi-Fi for youtube uploading, 4K youtube streaming, TYpe-C port should backup and live record to external HDD/SSD storage, and use multi LTE dongles with bonding service.

I would choose a clip up screen instead of flip out. That way it wouldn't interfere with any of the inputs on the side. I never use the hot shoe anyway. I think Canon will be the first to release the articulating full-frame mirrorless.
A lot of vlogger put a microphone on top of their camera .. which make the flip up screen very pointless.
Sony and Canon already tried, nobody liked those camera.

How about all that stuff, but the camera also... wait for it... turns into a drone! Yes, it has flip out extensions with propellers and the whole thing can fly around and be controlled remotely by a set of AR glasses that come with it. You wont ever even need to hold a camera in your hands again, it will just fly around next to you... freeing your hands for other things like holding your sandwich and soda. Oh, and built-in ND filters.
Need a follow-up on this one. A7SIII seems to check most of these boxes. Except the EVF lol

Can you add "pre intelligent recording option" PIRO for short! so if anything interesting "which you can pre-load your own custom options, as to what you think are interesting! it will then start recording before you even realise it's interesting, so you don't miss anything!

I agree with you in principle: every camera out there has something that's missing, while a competitor has that missing feature, but it's missing what the first camera had. The Sony A7 III is very good right now, but its stabilization is still not as good as Panny's, it doesn't record in better codecs, and its screen is not fully articulate. Canon, as you correctly said, always cripples their offerings on purpose on almost all respects, while Panny just doesn't have large sensors (and not good AF either). As for the new pocket Blackmagic, it has no stabilization, no articulate screen, and no AF. It only has RAW to show for itself, and a large, but non-articulate screen. The camera that comes the closest in that sub-$2k market is indeed the A7 III. But, it's still not fully there either.

The one thing that you think cripples the Panasonic is one of the things I like - the crop sensor! Filming surfing I appreciate the 2x crop on my 300mm and their excellent video quality. I guess I have *my* perfect camera in the GH5, yay!......... I feel for you still searching...... sorry to gloat ;)
Ha ha awesome job! I just started to look for a camera and tired of the some do some don’t BS. But obviously the way it looks to me all camera manufacturers leave something out so they get you to upgrade every year or so. They must meet once a year and pick from a hat the features they can have. Like a snake draft in fantasy football. Sony a6400 is a prime example- no stabilization??

Son, this camera exists and I've had it for the past 40 years. It's the Leica M4. Never had to change or charge batteries in 40 years, full frame, no EVF, compact... It doesn't have a flip out screen but it has a flip out back AND a removable bottom plate. What more do you need?

Hey mr. CC, you know there's a sony camera with good sensor that has flippy screen and no EVF, and it's light :) 280 grams! Add sony 16mm f2.8 pancake for 67grams and there you go. Light autofocus fullhd 60p goodness. Oh I almost forgot to mention the camera model, think thats important too. Sony A5100, you're welcome!
