Slovakia and Orthodox? :D Biggest lie I've ever heard. There is only 50 000 Orthodox members which is only 0,93% of inhabitants.

@@kineticpassports Why do you make videos when you are lazy to get at least basic information? You can spread disinformation about yourself, but not about foreign countries.

00:13:33 - Yes, Castles was mostly builded on hills or high rock hills for protect surounded area. it was place where can willigers from near area come for protection behind walls when enemy army comes. Also from higher position is more easy fight against enemy. During centuries it happens more like houndred times. In today view of modern guns / bombs and army airplanes it looking weird, but in past was strong logical and effective.

Nice video and beautiful shots! Looks like you had a good time. 🙂 In case you wonder why Czechoslovakia split, it wasn't because of the catholicism vs atheism difference. There were multiple reasons rooted in a different historical evolution of both nations. One of them was that Czechs felt like they have gained back their lost autonomy and felt like the whole Czechoslovakia was their, Czech country. Meanwhile Slovaks have never had autonomy and they wanted it when Czechoslovakia was being created in 1918. They had it promised, but never got it in 74 years, and felt like Czechoslovakia was not their state, like they were invisible.
Also they had different economies, poorer Slovakia felt like the reforms were helping Czechs and hurting Slovaks, while richer Czechia felt like Slovakia was slowing their progress and using their money.
As a result, in 1992, the Czech politicians wanted a centralist Czechoslovakia or to split, and Slovak politicians wanted a confederation or to split. Their opposite ideas about everything made the two national leaders decide that splitting was the only resolution. So Czechoslovakia was split peacefully by the politicians, even if people of both nations didn't want to split.

Great comment - and thank you for the kind correction and elaboration to what we discussed in the video. We're glad to see people are watching and adding historical insight to the places we're visiting - makes me want to explore more in these countries!

Yes, but it is also true that the Czechs were rather atheists and the Slovaks a strongly Christian nation.

Hi there I'm not sure where did you get that information on admission to the Primate's palace but it is definitely not 25€ :D I dont think there is a museum or a gallery where the ticket is more than 15 € in Slovakia, that must have been some concert event or so. Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time! Next time try Danubiana gallery, a short ride from Bratislava, it is such a peaceful place,

Bald and bankrupt did a video in a Gypsy Ghetto in Slovakia, that was very poor and dirty (most of the Romani people there seemed happy and kept their house nice, but lots of garbage outside); that's the closest thing to the poverty in the movie. However, there's no exchange rate benefit; I knew a guy who had been in Europe in the 90's before the Euro and had some places where the exchange rate gave triple the value. Eurotrip was filmed in Prague and though it was cheaper than some of the biggest cities it's still not super cheap, though I had a friend who married someone to stay in the US instead of Prague so who knows. That movie cost $25 million to make (not from Matt Damon, not sure if they paid him more than $1k scale) but I could shoot it with no-names for $25k-50k (acting students, porn actors for nude scenes and community college film students.) Of course, you have to sell it; but all I'd really need is a distributor that can get it on Netflix and then get it on TV 1-2 times.

Got scammed 80 euro immediately after getting off the train. I bought a tram ticket and got onboard. 50 seconds after being onboard the machine that validates the ticket turns off and they were waiting to give me the fine. Im sure they wait on tourist who make the mistake of coming to Slovakia. Criminal scum.

That's very unlucky and definitely a bad experience that can ruin your trip, but it's not a scam at all, you just didn't follow the rules. 50 seconds is too long, you have to validate it immediately, you need less than 10 seconds to do it even in a full bus. They actually gave you too much time to do it, normally it's even less. Why were you waiting for one whole minute? In 50 seconds it can take you one bus stop away and that's not allowed, you can't travel free. The bus can't be moving without you having paid for the ride. They do this to everyone, not just tourists and not just in the tourist areas, but in the residential areas too. I have experienced it regularly on my way to school. The tourists are especially unlucky, because often they come onboard without knowing the rules, but they are treated equally with locals, so they have to pay the fine too.

You weren't scammed - you didn't follow the rules. There are really good visual signs all over the bus, the validating machine has the possibility to switch to English and the system is really pretty clear for a city public transport system. If there wasn't a time limit to validate everyone would just buy a ticket and ride forever on that one ticket. If people could get away with not paying they all would and pretty soon there would be no public transport system so this is a necessary thing not criminal behaviour. 50 seconds is plenty of time to pop your ticket in the machine especially considering there are validating machines immediately next to every door. The buses exist to move us residents of Bratislava around the city as we go about our lives and there are many routes that have stops every minute or so. They weren't waiting for you - they get on random routes and check literally everyone and fine anyone who hasn't got a valid form of payment to travel.

Every idiot who buys a ticket sees an arrow on it and has to mark it RIGHT after boarding. Not after a minute, not after two. That you are an idiot and don't get it is your problem.
